As the market heats up, budgets tighten and health and safety requirements narrow; task-specific cleaning products must be introduced to maximize time, cost-sav- ings and productivity. ADN: What traditional cleaning trend is impeding the productivity of automotive worksites? BV: Despite the modernization of auto- motive manufacturing, many worksites rely on using rental towels and bulk rags to clean – both of which can cause damage and impact the bottom line. The variety of sizes and materials of bulk rags can cause inconsistent perform- ance, surface damage and increased waste. While reliance on rental towels can decrease – rather than increase – the cleanliness of a worksite, a mix of multi-industry contaminants can spread grease, oil, chemicals and even metal shavings. As an alternate to these methods, we have shifted to a task-based disposable wiper like the Tork Industrial Cleaning Cloth. Unlike the unpredictability of pre- used rags and rental towels, Tork Industrial Cleaning Cloths are designed specifically to remove oil and grease. Each wiper is fresh and protects users from metal shavings and the contamina- tion of hazardous chemicals. Venturini Motorsports (Cont'd. from p. 1) ADN: Over and above cleanliness, how does the introduction of task-based wipes improve efficiency in the shop or in the pit? BV: With task-based wipers, we feel con- fident knowing they've been designed specifically to combat the complexities of wiping, cleaning and polishing. Preparing a vehicle for painting, for example, requires the right tool for the job. Without the proper wiper like Tork Industrial Low-Lint Cleaning Cloth, lint can be left behind leading to loss of time, quality and money. For example, the Tork Industrial Low-Lint Cleaning Cloth is absorbent, low-linting and has certified anti-static properties. ADN: What results have proven the effectiveness of task-based wipes? BV: While a simple look around an automotive site can reveal the cleaning benefits of task-based wipers, to further illustrate their performance enhancing capabilities, a recent study compared the performance of Tork Wipers to rental towels and rags. The study revealed that the Tork Industrial Cleaning Cloth requires up to 20 per- cent less effort, 23 percent less time and 40 percent less solvent than traditional textiles to get the job done. The wipers themselves take up 80 percent less stor- age, transportation and disposal space than traditional textiles.
