Produce Show Daily Sunday, October 16, 2016 4 4 ORIGINAL AND CLICK-N-GO TWIST-EASE SYSTEMS CREATE POSITIVE STORE IMAGE Founded in 1989 and located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Twist-Ease, Inc. has been manufacturing its patent- ed twist tie dispensing system for 27 years. Twist-Ease was designed by a produce manager who recognized the consumer desire for a reliable bag clo- sure but was tired of the mess and inconvenience of bulk twist ties. With the Twist-Ease system, twist ties are glued together at the top, so only one is taken at a time. This eliminates the problem that occurs when a customer intends to pull one tie but instead pulls several, which then either fall into the produce case or onto the floor. Loose ties in the produce case are not only unsightly, but can work their way into the drains, causing a clog. The loose ties on the floor are a potential slip haz- ard that need to be cleaned up. Cups filled with ties can collect garbage, fruit pits, nutshells, used tissue and discarded gum. Twist-Ease twist ties eliminate the potential of an unsan- itary, clutter-filled twist tie container. Twist-Ease twist ties create a positive store image that is clean, organized and sanitary. Additionally, using Twist-Ease twist ties saves both the labor and time required to refill bulk twist tie cups. The Twist-Ease system holds 1,200 twist ties per pack, versus a cup that holds only 300 to 400 loose ties. Twist- Ease ties also protect end use customers from cross contamina- tion threats by keep- ing bags sealed tightly. Studies by the International Association of Food Protection have found yeast, mold, staph and coliforms living and growing on checkout conveyors. With Twist-Ease, the potential for conveyor-borne cross contamination is eliminated. As good as the original system is, Twist-Ease is always seeking innovation and improved technology. The new Click-N-Go system, launching in 2017, optimizes the original system by fitting more ties into a smaller footprint that consists of a metal mounting apparatus that is permanently affixed in the store. This new sys- tem will "click" into the mounting apparatus, pro- viding a fresh and clean dis- penser with every refill. Also launching this year are 4-inch Flag Ties. Traditionally, Twist-Ease has manufactured 6-inch flag ties. In small retail departments, space is valu- able. The 4-inch flag offers the same ben- efits as the original 6-inch flag ties: ample space to write and a long twistable area to tie around the bag while taking up less space. Using the Twist-Ease system pro- vides the best possible environment for the store chain and the end user. Visit Twist-Ease at booth #1653. BUILD THE WAREHOUSE YOU NEED INSIDE THE SAN ANTONIO WHOLESALE PRODUCE MARKET The demand for larger warehouse accom- modations with cold rooms and freezers in central Texas is already pushing the recently inaugurated San Antonio Wholesale Produce Market in south San Antonio to continue the development of the next phases of its warehouse park. So far, only 25 of a total of 80 acres designated for the development have been constructed on. A total of 60 refrig- erated warehouse units of about 3,100 square feet each were finished by the beginning of this year, and the developer, Abasto Properties LLC, had great suc- cess selling most of the units in this first phase and continues leasing the remain- ing units. Abasto Properties has already started with planning and engineering of the sec- ond phase of the new Produce Terminal Market. Although ground break is not planned until the first half of next year, the company is already pre-selling the indus- trial lots for customers to construct ware- houses of 10,000 square feet or more. Backed by more than three decades of experience in wholesale produce market develop- ments, Abasto Properties will offers its counsel to companies acquiring these lots to design and construct a warehouse according to their needs and specifica- tions. Owner financing for the purchase of the lots is available. The new industrial lots will come with ample concrete streets for truck maneuvering and parking on one side, paved streets and plenty of parking for vehicles on the other side, water, sewer, electricity and public light services. In addition, the lots are part of the same condominium administration of the exist- ing warehouses in the first phase, and enjoy the common amenities that come along with it, including controlled access, security and video surveillance, landscaping and mainte- nance. The second phase of the new San Antonio Wholesale Produce Market will not only enhance the relevance of the development in the Texas produce indus- try overall, but will also attract larger companies looking at San Antonio as an ideal distribution, processing, re-packing and wholesale spot for their U.S.- or Mexico-grown products. AT THE LITTLE POTATO COMPANY, IT'S ALL ABOUT CREAMERS Find your passion, pursue it wholeheart- edly and you'll find success. What's true in life has also proven true for The Little Potato Company. The Little Potato Company's team of passionate potato professionals is focused solely on Creamer potatoes. It doesn't grow or sell any other products. Period. Some might even say The Little Potato Company is obsessed with Creamers. It cultivates and crafts its own unique and exclusive proprietary little potatoes with great care from seed germination to order delivery. Each and every step is carefully overseen and planned to ensure the compa- ny's little Creamers are the absolute best they can be from farm to fork. It all starts with choosing the right varieties. Very few of the thousands of potato varieties that The Little Potato Company cultivates and assesses meet the team's extraordinary standards for a new Creamer. In the 20 years since its founding, The Little Potato Company has selected and introduced only a handful of proprietary new varietals. The variety development team painstakingly chooses a new variety for its taste, visual appeal, amenability to local climates and soils, and ability to stay consistently delicious throughout the year. Once selected, Creamers are grown by farmers who have been carefully cho- sen as the best in the business. When mature, the Creamers are gently harvest- ed and immediately shipped to the com- pany's state-of-the-art processing facility. There they are washed, sort- ed and packed under careful scrutiny, and shipped out again while still fresh and bursting with flavor. The team on the processing floor takes as much pride in each and every pack- age as the grower does in nurturing every plant. The Little Potato Company's differ- entiation lies in the innovative and exten- sive ways it offers up its little Creamers. Its most popular varieties include Baby Boomer, Blushing Belle, Fingerlings and the newest variety, Chilean Splash. These popular little Creamers are sold in eye- catching and colorful 1.5-pound gusset bags in leading retailers across North America. They're also available in popu- lar and convenient Oven|Grill and Microwave Ready kits that are super easy to prepare and feature Creamers, a vari- ety of natural savory seasonings and spe- cialty cooking trays. To ensure it can continue to meet ever-increasing demand and exceed customer expecta- tions, the company recently announced it is building a new U.S. processing facility in DeForest, Wisconsin. The com- pany has invested more than $20 million in this new 130,000 square foot facility, which features new custom-built pro- cessing equipment and will ensure year- round accessibility of Creamer potatoes across North America. This year, the team is celebrating 20 years of successfully creating and shar- ing delicious, nutritious and convenient Creamers with families and foodies. This is a team that is focused, and will drive continued success. Visit The Little Potato Company at booth #557.
