It imparts both the flavor and appearance of vanilla by adding the gorgeous flecks of actual vanilla seeds. "Our Madagascar Vanilla Bean Paste uses only premium vanilla from Madagascar and is one of our most popular vanilla products," says John Gret- tenberger, LorAnn Oils' CEO. "Chefs and home cooks love it because it's much more convenient and affordable than buying whole beans, which dry out easily and require slicing and scraping to get to the seeds inside of the pods. We've done all the work for you. Just open the jar and substitute one tablespoon of paste for one whole bean." It is certified gluten free and offers spicy heat from the chorizo or hot Italian sausage added by home cooks, and achieves a deep flavor from saffron seasoned rice, Hungarian paprika, cumin, turmeric, thyme and bay leaf. The balanced heat and spice enrich this hearty tomato-based stew, and the pre-cooked and dehydrated chickpeas in the mix keep stovetop simmering time to 30 minutes. Southwestern Sausage & Chickpea Stew builds on the popularity of other South- western style soup mixes in Frontier Soups line, including South of the Border Tortilla Soup, the company's top seller; the new Montana Creekside Classic Chili; Arizona Sunset Enchilada Soup and Texas Wrangler Black Bean Soup. All mixes have no salt added and contain no preservatives, MSG, or genetically modified ingredients. The suggested retail price is $5.95-$6.95 for a 6-ounce package. Two of the flavors, Chipotle Cinnamon and Smoky Chile, are inspired by Mexican cuisine which has seen a rise in popularity in recent years. Mild Sriracha and Coriander Lime draw their inspiration from the exotic flavors of Thailand. Smoky Turmeric and Tandoori are inspired by the warm aromatic flavors of Indian cuisine. Finally, Spicy Garlic draws inspiration from harissa, a popular North African condiment. The rubs are a natural fit for the upcoming grilling season, but The Spice Hunter has provided usage suggestions to educate consumers on how to use these rubs year-round. For example, the Mild Sriracha blend makes a deli- cious dip and the Chipotle Cinnamon pairs perfectly with roasted sweet potatoes. The rubs are rated by level of spiciness and provide a nice range for adventurous and sensitive palates alike.
