G a m i n g N e w s Tu e s d a y, M a r ch 1 5 , 2 0 1 6 1 0 made fabric structures popular — bright interiors, insulation, soundproofing — and add a rigid steel frame. The frame allows for more design options, includ- ing additional square footage, HVAC and lighting systems, plus greater resistance to heavy wind and snow loads. GN: Why is the rigid frame important? BF: The rigid frame increases the build- ing use options. When space for ancillary use is a concern, we can add a mezzanine for offices, meeting rooms and security. Legacy buildings often include separated areas for storage, operations and building maintenance systems. These factors com- bine for a more efficient building and a faster return on investment. GN: How does Legacy work with build- ing owners? BF: Legacy Building Solutions is a design-build and design-assist company, so we partner with you throughout the design, engineering and construction process. Our customers range from small municipalities to major corporations, and we offer services from simple building projects to full construction management. Our team listens to the needs and wants of your stakeholders throughout the process. GN: How does the cost compare to that of traditional construction? Legacy Building Solutions (Cont'd. from p. 1 ) BF: We have two advantages when it comes to cost: expedited construction and lower life cycle costs. Installation is completed in about one third the time of traditional buildings, and we own the schedule and budget for on-time and on- budget projects. Life cycle costs are decreased large- ly by greater energy efficiency. Lighting and heating systems work more effi- ciently in the insulated and lined build- ings. With the ever-growing need for green buildings, Legacy has developed a solar panel and turbine system to decrease the carbon footprint of our structures. We care about our environ- ment. GN: What sets Legacy apart from other fabric structures on the market? BF: Legacy is one of the few fabric structure companies certified by ISO 9001:2008. All building components are manufactured onsite for complete quality control. Our factory-trained installation crew is the most experi- enced in the industry for professional, quality installation. The principal team has over a century of combined experi- ence in all aspects of the industry. We were the first to apply fabric cladding to a rigid steel frame, and we hold a patent for the attachment process. While we are based in Minnesota with offices in Canada, we provide engi- neering and installation services worldwide. For more information, visit booth #1314 or www.legacybuildingsolutions.com. BIG IDEAS NOW OFFERING MARVEL PANELS Big Ideas has been a growing compa- ny for over 20 years. With this experi- ence, it is capable in responding to the ever-changing needs in the tech indus- try. As technology and the demands of customers change, so does Big Ideas. It now features light up/sound activated merchandise. They light up and flash to the beat of music or any sound. They can be made into signs, panels, ties and caps. The ultra-thin, highly flexible panels are attached onto the merchan- dise and have a small battery/driver unit. The driver unit has an on/off switch, a small built-in microphone and a sensitivity dial, which allows the user to adjust the way the panel reacts to louder or softer sounds. This technology is called electrolu- minescence (EL). EL is a small, low voltage flashing light panel incorporat- ed into the product, and when activated makes the panels come to life with flashing lights. Electroluminescence happens when you plug in a sandwich made of plastic, conductive material and phosphor. There are two electrode layers in the sandwich and a layer of phosphor in between them. It's the phosphor that makes the light when it glows as the electricity goes through it as it pass- es from one electrode layer to the other. These panels have a wide range of use indoors and outdoors, whether you're using them to accessorize your clothing, backpacks or decorating your room. Now it is offering licensed Marvel panels. This brings a new age range for consumers. Just like the non- licensed panels, the user can use his or her imagination for where to apply the panels. EL prod- ucts are great for retail sales and promotional use. You can customize the EL panels to your design and size requirements. EL products are durable. Unlike incandes- cent or fluorescent lamps, EL lights do not fail abruptly. Instead, the brightness will gradually decrease over long periods of use. It is difficult to quantify the exact life span, as humidity, initial brightness and type of inverter used all have an effect. Under normal conditions, the useful life is approximately 20,000 hours.
