GOURMET NEWS www.gourmetnews.com n JUNE 2016 n GOURMET NEWS 1 2 Introducing Sitti's Foods By Fredrick Khoury, President Sitti's Foods is a new company introduc- ing a frozen line of Lebanese cuisine. We are sharing century old recipes passed down thru generations from my grand- mothers and mother. Our product line con- sists of traditional Lebanese entrees and desserts made pure and natural, without preservatives, fillers or GMOs, the way they have been served for decades in our home. Mediterranean foods is one of the fastest growing segments in the U.S. mar- ket as witnessed by the popularity of ap- petizers such as hummus, baba ganoush and tabouli. Customers have taken notice of how wonderful and delicious these foods taste and are wanting more. Sitti's Foods is a company dedicated to produc- ing the highest quality Lebanese desserts and entrees on the market. With decades of foodservice experience, the company owner understands the demand for good quality foods. Living in faster paced lifestyles than our parents and grandparents before us, it is more difficult to find time to prepare the same quality meals at home we were for- tunate to have growing up. Sitti's Foods believes that just because we live in a fast paced society doesn't mean we need to ac- cept fast food as our only option. We have developed new tech- niques to make these wonderful foods that typically take hours to prepare by hand and are making them available to the retail and foodservice industries. By offering these products frozen, it enables the end user to enjoy a quality dessert or entrée in a frac- tion of the time. Sitti's Foods products provides restau- rateurs, caterers, upscale grocers, coffee and gourmet shops the ability to tap into one of the fastest growing market seg- ments without having to invest time and money creating menu items from new or unfamiliar recipes. Our recipes and foods have been en- joyed by family and friends over the past century and we are pleased to have the opportunity to now share these with you. Our first products will be introduced at this year's Summer Fancy Food Show booth #5363. We are launching our dessert line by introducing a "first on the market" freezer-to-oven gourmet baklava product. Other classic entrée products will be com- ing soon such as Mjadra, Koosa and Baked Kibbeh, with more wonderful dishes to follow. For more information, stop by booth #5363. Vintage Italia Introduces New Product in 2016 2016 kicked off with a bang for Vintage Italia, the snack company behind the pop- ular Pasta Chips brand. Vintage Italia is continuing on its path of crunchy success with the introduction of two new Pasta Chips varieties: Rosemary and Red Veg- gie, as well as the snack innovation Pasta Chips' sister product, Bow Ties. "Bow Ties are the first puffed, crunchy pasta snack – we've been lauded by our peers for this innovation and we can't wait to launch this product in July," said Vin- tage Italia Founder and Chief Executive Officer Jerry Bello. Bow Ties are available in four flavors, including: Caesar Ranch, Honey Butter, Meatball Parm and Cheesy Alfredo. Bow Ties will hit snack aisles beginning in July and are just one of many innovations from Vintage Italia. Pasta Chips and Bow Ties are the brain- child of Bello, whose discovery of fresh pasta dough lightly baked then topped with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt during a trip to the Tuscan Countryside of Italy inspired him to recre- ate the dish into a crunchy snack for health-conscious consumers the world over. Bello honors Pasta Chips' Italian heritage by using the very same semolina flour, ancient grains and Italian herbs that were celebrated more than 800 years ago. Pasta Chips, the low-calorie, low-fat, low-cholesterol chip, is single-handedly putting pasta back on the map as a baked pasta snack. "Now you can have 'grab 'n' go' pasta," said Bello. In fact, Pasta Chips is the very first company to bring a baked pasta snack to the market- place – typi- cal of Bello's innovation in specialty food. Pasta Chips, a skinny pasta snack, are very light and crispy and have just 120 calories per serving, 60 percent less fat than regular potato chips and 20 percent less fat than the leading pita chips, and is kosher and GMO-free. The snack, avail- able in signature original, as well as eight other tantalizing flavors, including Mari- nara, Alfredo, Spicy Tomato Basil, Garlic Olive Oil, Veggie, Red Veggie, Rosemary and Mediterranean Sea Salt utilizes the semolina flour, ancient grains and Italian herbs that were cele- brated more than 800 years ago. P a s t a Chips are available in- store at Kroger, Weg- man's, select Costco locations, A&P, Chamberlin's, DuaneReade, Harris Teeter, Hyvee, King Kullen, Kings, Mariano's Fresh Market, Meijer, Pick'n Save, Pub- lix, Randalls, Roche Bros., Roundy's, Safeway, Schnucks, Shaws, Sendik's Food Market, The Fresh Market, Tops Friendly Markets, Vons, Walmart, WinCo Foods and other retailers nationwide and at www.pastachips.com. It's Personal – Just Jan's Celebrates Four Years By Jan Hogrewe, Founder When I started Just Jan's, I couldn't tell you where this journey would take me. My hope was to share my fruit spreads and other cre- ations with friends, family, chefs and anyone who might be interested in tasting what I came up with. Armed with a passion for cre- ating new spreads to pair with cheese and wine and the occasional PB&J sandwich, I dove headfirst into this business. I've never worked harder in my life, and have enjoyed every minute learning, growing and meeting some incredible people along the way. In four years, this company has grown beyond my wildest expectations, and I have grown with it. Reflecting on where this journey has brought me, I can sum it up with one word: grate- ful. I know the true meaning of serendip- ity and the kindness of strangers. Today the Just Jan's line is featured in four and five star hotels, gourmet restaurants and retail stores na- tionwide. I'm privileged to collaborate with chefs, creating recipes for use in their kitchens with as well as hotel room service. To see the success that Just Jan's has at- tained is humbling and I'm thankful to my fam- ily, friends and strangers who tasted my creations over the years – you continue to help me spread the good- ness. I'm excited and look forward to see where the next four years take us. For more information, visit www.justjans .com or stop by booth #774.
