H a r d w a r e & H o u s e w a r e s R e v i e w 4 1 W e d n e s d a y, M a y 4 , 2 0 1 6 with the BioLite CampStove, a portable wood-burning stove that generates elec- tricity from the heat of the fire. Since then, we've released numerous products that help people cook, charge and light their lives using the energy around them. HHR: This is your first year at NHS. Why come this year in particular? JC: Our recent partnership with Lowe's showed us how much demand there is for our outdoor recreation products much closer to home, like in the backyard or at a tailgate. One thing that we found particularly compelling is that wood fired cooking is making a comeback. BioLite's stoves and grill make cooking over wood much more approachable than traditional fire pits or grills because they are smokeless, making them easier to spend time around — and environmentally friendly. We are rethinking the way that people interact with their backyard grills and tailgates. HHR: What's different about BioLite's approach to grilling? B io L ite (C o nt'd. fro m p. 1 ) JC: Three things: design, functionality and origins. Our designs re-imagine the way people interact with fire, making it more social and enjoyable. Our grills allow you to experience the natural taste of cooking over wood, but with- out worrying about the smoke. As an added bonus, our technology generates usable electricity from the fire, so that you can power USB devices like your phone or lights while grilling. Lastly, a part of the research process for our products was conducted in emerging markets where innovative cooking, charging and lighting solutions are paramount. HHR: Why should people visit BioLite at NHS this year? JC: One, you'll be the first to see the latest additions to our Energy Ecosystem. Two, we'll have our existing award-winning prod- ucts on display. Three, we'll charge your phone and cook you up something tasty. Visit BioLite at booth #OUTDR621, locat- ed in the tailgating section. For more infor- mation, email sales@bioliteenergy.com, or visit www.bioliteenergy.com. want to cramp up while using my chain- saw or brush cutter. I knew the solution involved cutting out felt vibration to ease the impact on my body. LimbSaver has been producing products for years for the archery and firearm industries which reduce vibration, noise and recoil. I want- ed to employ the technology that we had been using for years to help people who use tools day in and day out. HHR: What kind of products did you end up coming up with to counter all that vibration? SS: We began designing wraps designed to go around the grip on chainsaws, weed trimmers, hammers, axes, you name it. What we came up with is a universal design that really works. Our testing shows that the Comfort-Tech Grip-Wrap Isolator reduces up to 50 percent of felt vibration. That's huge when you're talk- ing about stress and pain inducing vibra- tion. HHR: Have any other products come about as a result of your own aches and pains? SS: Yes! My back would just kill me as I was using my weed trimmer. I would have to take frequent breaks, and it became a dreaded and drawn out chore. Sims Vibration Laboratory (Cont'd. from p. 1 ) My other company, LimbSaver, has had huge success with rifle and bow slings, and I thought, by golly, I'm going to have my engineers design the best weed trim- mer sling, and they did! HHR: What makes your trimmer sling the best? SS: The Comfort-Tech Weed Trimmer Sling has a contoured and flexible design which takes the weight of your trimmer and keeps it balanced and dis- tributed across your shoulder and back, eliminating pressure points and minimizing fatigue. The material is slip-resistant, so you don't have to constantly be readjusting it on your shoulder. HHR: Is there anything else you'd like to tell our readers? SS: Give our slings, wraps and other products a try. You'll love them. I think the last thing I want to say about Comfort-Tech is that all of our products are designed and made in the United States. We're pretty passionate about making jobs and improving the local economy here in Shelton, Washington, and the rest of our great nation. Outdoor Edge took its top selling Razor-Lite replacement blade hunting knife and improved it for everyday use. While replacement razor blade utility knives were once the industry standard for DIY types and contractors, Outdoor Edge has set the new standard for knife perform- ance by combining the convenience of a utility knife with the versatility of a tradi- tional folding knife. Outdoor Edge's Jordan Brothers explains, "While the trapezoidal utility knife has always been favored by con- tractors and hardware store patrons for their affordable blade replacement, the suitability of these knives for everyday use is limited by their blade shape. The Razor-Lite and Onyx EDC's easily replaceable and incredibly sharp drop- point replacement blades make them the only knives to combine the best qualities of disposable utility knives and tradition- al drop point folding knives." Now in-stock and ready to ship, the Onyx EDC retails competitively at $24.95, and the Razor-Lite EDC retails at $29.95. The handles of both models are constructed from an incredibly tough, glass-nylon polymer called Grivory ® . While the lower priced Onyx features a O utdo o r Edge (C o nt'd. fro m p. 1 ) Trimond™ textured pattern for grip, the Razor-Lite EDC utilizes rubberized TPR inserts for a safe, non-slip grip. The handle features a recessed, replaceable pocket clip design for a comfortable grip as well as added convenience if the clip ever needed to be replaced. In fact, the clip is so well shaped that the grip feels like there is no clip at all. Once the blade goes dull, it's as easy as ever to change blades. Simply depress the lock button on the han- dle to remove the worn blade and insert a "shaving-sharp" new one. The black- oxide coated blade holder offers double- sided thumb studs for one-hand opening and supports the 3.5-inch razor-blade for the strength of a traditional knife with the sharpness of a surgeon's scalpel. Each knife comes with three or six replacement blades and additional six packs of blades can be purchased for a retail of $11.95. Available in both box and blister packaging, dealers with limited merchan- dising space can also purchase conven- ient countertop displays which hold nine knives and four replacement blade packs.
