The Thunder3 Duo Pro, the indus- try's first hardware RAID and display dock solution was designed to unleash the groundbreaking speed and simplicity of Thunderbolt™3. Developed to handle the data protec- tion and performance requirements for today's ever- growing media libraries, the Thunder3 Duo Pro offers fast transfers with the added flexibility of a DisplayPort video output in a form factor small enough for a desk- top. "Thunderbolt3 will be transformational for the industry," said Richard Wright, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Akitio. "The revolutionary 40Gb/s bandwidth will drive storage innovation to better trans- fer, save, protect and edit photos, videos, music and other extremely large files and free up valuable space on computers." AKITIO A LEADER IN THUNDERBOLT3 STORAGE An interview with Jeff Smith, Vice President of Sales at Blonder Tongue Laboratories, Inc. BSD: Where is your current product emphasis? JS: We are a small U.S. manu- facturer in the communications industry. We have been primarily focused on video, but with the advent of IPTV as the technologies merge, we are expanding our portfolio to all forms of media. Our products are found in all kinds of business deployments, such as broadcast studios, lodging and hospitality, MDUs, education, healthcare, government facilities and offices, stadiums, entertainment venues, retail stores and small-medium businesses like boutiques and doctor's offices. We work with any operator, integrator or newcomer that serves these locations, whether it is the largest cable MSO, a telco or satellite provider. The solutions we cre- ate cover a full gamut; it is not a single company, single market or single technology. You can now resolve the limited reach of HDMI using the emView series. The emView series is a small converter that can be mounted at the back of your monitor with connection via HDMI. Embrionix is introducing two new families of conversion products, allowing IP signals to be moni- tored on standard displays and base band signals to be injected inside your IP network. While using the same form factor, the emFusion series will enable you to take base band signals (SDI or HDMI) and encap- sulate them into IP, so they can be incorporated into your media network. Embrionix achieves yet another milestone by incorporating HDMI SFP technology with its latest 2022-6 advanced IP transport solutions. Embrionix's two new conversion families allow IP signals to be monitored on standard HDMI displays, and base band or HDMI signals to be injected into your IP network. The emView series combines its SFPs in a small By Calvin Harrison, President and Chief Executive Officer, IneoQuest Technologies As the video industry contin- ues to face seismic change, network operators, video serv- ice providers and content own- ers must constantly make criti- cal strategic and tactical deci- sions to offer the "right" content, stay ahead of demand and keep the video streaming smoothly – all while keeping the business realities of cost, revenue and prof- it in mind. Good decisions rely on accurate, detailed knowledge. The right intelligence at the right time can make the difference between success and failure. IneoQuest's DNA was formed at the turn of the century, during the emergence of packet-based video and IPTV. We cut our teeth working with network oper- ators to develop the test and measurement equipment they needed to quickly diagnose issues in the lab. But this "reactive" approach to packet video issues was insufficient, as viewership and revenue would be lost when the problems were not quickly identified and LEMO has been producing the highest quality push-pull electronic, fiber optic and hybrid connectors since the technology was first intro- duced in the early '50s. Over the past half-century, design engineers around the world have turned to LEMO whenever they've needed a new solution in high performance circular connectors. LEMO was founded in 1946, originally focused on man- ufacturing contacts (pins) made of noble and rare metals. Since the breakthrough of the LEMO push-pull technol- ogy in 1957, LEMO has led to growth throughout Europe and the United States. LEMO connectors are designed for long-lasting operation and maximum interconnect stability in even the harshest environments. The LEMO 3K.93C HDTV SMPTE hybrid connector has a compact design with two single-mode fiber contacts, two power contacts and two signal contacts for HD camera interconnection systems. The LEMO 3K.93C HDTV Connector is one of the only connectors that is fully AINSI/SMPTE (USA), ARIB Continued on Page 29 Have you been waiting for LED fresnel prices to come down? Your existing fresnels are just fine, right? Well, the heat and power draw is more than those sexy LEDs. What if you could just fix that? Visionsmith is producing just such a fix. ReLamp is its new product line of LED globes for halogen fresnels. Not a retrofit, just a globe. There are sizes for the most common fresnels. Each one fits into the socket the same as the halogen globe. Pull out the halogen, put in the LED. Can it really be that easy? Well, in some fixtures the reflector should be unscrewed to make room for the LED. Also, in order to achieve the "brighter than halogen" performance, you'll have to opt for the lens upgrade. But otherwise, yes, it's that easy. Have you ever blown a circuit? With the ReLamp 1K, you can fit 10 lights on a powerstrip. That would be the same light output as 10,000 watts of halogen, on one power-strip. Generator rentals may suffer.
