This year, two of the most popular models have been modified to improve their durability. The Flip & Fold Island (model# KK- 2001T2) has been replaced by KK- 2001T4. Instead of a laminate top, it now has a solid hardwood top. The wheels have been changed from 2.5 inches to three inches. This design gives an instant 7.9 square feet of extra work surface for the homeowner while folding down to just under five inches wide to allow for greater flexibility in the kitchen. The Deluxe Flip & Fold (model# KK-3001TDX) has been replaced by KK-31DX. Instead of a single lower cross beam, now it has a double tube lower cross beam. This design gives additional stability to the frame. When fully opened, it offers an instant 10.5 square feet of extra work surface for the homeowner. The food safe hardwood top serves as a perfect prep station for any meal while being exceptionally easy to clean. "These two carts offer the home- owner the ability to create quite a large amount of space on the fly, allowing for them to focus on whatever task they need of the cart for. You shouldn't need to spend half of your time in the kitchen try- ing to compen- sate for a lack of room," said Kelvin Ng, President. With the tabletop size 30 inches wide by 20.5 inches deep, there is more than enough space to prepare multiple dishes at once or one enormous meal for the visiting relatives. Four locking cas- tors means that the table will be secure on any surface, whether that would be in the kitchen being used for prep work, being wheeled out into the dining room for a tableside service experience, or simply serving as extra table space for the kids to work on their science projects. This ver- satility in its functions is a cornerstone of the design, says the company. "When designing the Flip & Fold Islands, we ensured that the table was made extremely versatile in order to be used in many different occa- sions, as a serving table when you have guests, or as a station to prepare the Easter dinner on," Ng explains. "If you find that you need the space outside of the kitchen, simply wheel the table to its new location and set up there. With eight to 10 square feet of work surface available on demand, you can be prepared to handle any task that comes your way." Currently the Flip & Fold Island has a retail price of $304.99 and the Deluxe Flip & Fold Island has a retail price of $339.99. Visit Oasis Concepts at booth #S2278. FAR EAST GLASSWARE FOOD STORAGE: QUALITY AT A COMPETITIVE PRICE Far East Glassware products meet the needs of time-stressed home cooks who often prepare their week's meals over the prior weekend and store them to be reheated after they arrive home from work. "Today's home cooks are different from their mothers who prepared each night's meal from scratch. Today, they're cooking multiple meals in batches and freezing or refrigerating them in meal- size portions," said Martin Owen, Vice President Sales at Far East. "That means that they're looking for high-quality food storage options that can go directly from the refrigerator to the microwave or con- ventional oven, and then into the dish- washer. Far East Glassware provides what they're looking for." Far East is a premier, high-quality borosilicate glass manufacturer in China. Its glass food storage containers and bakeware products are made to withstand large and sudden temperature changes, such as taking them from the refrigerator and sliding them directly into a preheated oven. They can handle oven temperatures up to 600 Celsius – that's 1,112 degrees Fahrenheit – and freezer temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius, or -4 degrees Fahrenheit. Because borosilicate glass is non-porous, it won't absorb food odors, flavors or stains, is highly hygienic and its smooth surface is resistant to corro- sion. Borosilicate glass will never go cloudy, even after years of use in the oven, microwave, freezer and refrigerator. "Our products have the quality you expect from brand names you already know," said Ada Zhang, Director of Worldwide Sales. "We are very attuned to the market's design and fashion trends. While our food storage line offers more than 100 container and lid combinations, we will work with anyone who needs a custom design." Food storage containers from Far East Glassware have specially designed snap-down, no-leak lids that are completely air- and liq- uid-proof, so lunches stay safe as they go from refriger- ator to lunch tote to the office. Far East products are sold in countries around the world, including the U.S., Europe, Japan, Korea, the Middle East and South America. "We have established an excellent reputation for delivering on time, excellent quality products at very competitive prices," said Ada Zhang. "We're looking forward to meeting new customers." SPARQ HOME CREATES LOCATION-SPECIFIC DESIGNS SPARQ Home has recently taken to sup- porting local. As SPARQ began brain- storming shapes to cut for its new slate products, the idea to cut designs that cater to individual cities came to mind. For six months, SPARQ allowed any customer to send in their custom request to have their shape idea turned into a Slate Cork Topper, Slate Wine Note, Slate Wall Note or Slate Cheese Board. Shapes like bicycles and mus- taches for the ever-so-trendy Portland popped up, along with anchors, sail- boats and lighthouses for East Coast cities. Forest creatures like foxes and bears and greenery such as spruce, pine, oak and elm trees for scenic and mountain towns were also popular. Music notes for cities like Nashville and Austin were created as well and have shown much popularity. "In a sense, we're giving back to our customers. We've allowed them to come to us and say 'this is what we want' and we've been able to provide it," explained SPARQ partner, Justin English. "It's been interesting to see what each city has wanted to have represented." Some distinctive designs like a loon are often requested for the Midwest states, with palm trees for cities in Florida and California. Southern locations like New Orleans often chose the fleur de lys design, while Texas stores have continued to order the cowboy boot. "If we can provide a unique prod- uct at a fair price point and that can help a boutique raise their sales, then we're all for it," stated Jessica Purple, SPARQ Home's Sales Manager. Along with creating a line of custom shapes to symbolize different areas of the coun- try, SPARQ also released a line of state shapes for each slate product, including shapes of the U.S.A., Mexico and Canada. "State pride is a trend we are see- ing in every industry – kitchenware, jewelry, apparel – it is something we think is here to stay," explained Marketing Coordinator, Kate Naylor. The Café Wall Caddy Peel-n-Stick will mount to most any flat surface and requires no tools for installation. The Café Wall Caddy organizes and stores 28 Keurig K- Cup ® sized pods.
