C o n s t r u c t i o n M a r k e t p l a c e T h u r s d a y, J a n u a r y 2 1 , 2 0 1 6 4 0 ZOELLER COMPANY ANNOUNCES NEW TECHNOLOGY An interview with Jeff Sloss, Zoeller Controls and Electronics Product Line Manager. CM: What is Z Control? JS: Z Control is Zoeller Company's name for the overall platform that connects Z Control Enabled devices, such as pump equipment used in lift stations and sump pits, to the Z Control Cloud. CM: Why does pump equipment need to be connected to the Internet? JS: With many homeowners desiring below-grade living spaces, demand is growing for assurance that water will not destroy the investment in these areas of their homes. While a properly sized lift station and pump will reliably protect these spaces the majority of the time, they are mechanical and all mechanical devices risk failure. Z Control technolo- gy is designed to help the homeowner stay informed about their equipment, ensuring that it is doing its job. CM: What are the components of this platform? JS: The Z Control Cloud is a custom, cloud-based service designed and built by Zoeller Company to facilitate Internet-based communication to and from Z Control Enabled devices. These devices allow for Internet connectivity using the homeowner's mobile device or desktop computer. Integration between the Z Control Cloud and Z Control Enabled devices provides a robust plat- form from which customers can remotely manage device settings, silence alarms and run equipment tests. They can receive email, text and push notifications about the status of their home devices. CM: When will Z Control Enabled products be avail- able? JS: Zoeller Company's first Z Control Enabled product, the Aquanot ® Active 508, is available now. It is a self-test- ing, Internet-connected high performance DC battery back- up sump pump system. It is being featured at the 2016 International Builders' Show. As 2016 progresses, Z Control versions of APak ® alarms, SmartPaks ® and other residential devices will be introduced. Additional products are also being developed. Our clean water solutions division, Flint & Walling, Inc., recently released the Commander Pro, its first Z Control Enabled product series of Variable Speed Controllers. CM: What about existing control pan- els and alarms? Is it possible to connect these to the Z Control platform? JS: Yes. Using the Z Control Gateway, non-Z Control Enabled prod- ucts equipped with auxiliary contacts can utilize the email, text and push notification fea- tures of the Z Control Cloud. CM: Will there be a Z Control app for mobile devices? JS: Yes! Both iOS and Android versions will be available. Whether you use an app on a mobile device or your desktop computer, your Z Control account is fully featured from zcontrolcloud.com. The demand for Internet connectivity of today's home is growing for conven- ience and security. It is time to use tech- nology to provide the same peace of mind regarding the home's critical equipment. It is time for Z Control. Peace of mind, now online. KENWOOD KITCHEN MACHINE DELIVERS UNSURPASSED PERFORMANCE Turbocharged, highly versatile, and able to take a beating, the Kenwood Kitchen Machine makes chef-inspired cooking easier than ever. Since 2013, American cooks have been able to experience what cooks around the world have known for decades: The unsurpassed quality, superior perform- ance and innovation, and meticulous and timeless design of Kenwood prod- ucts. "As the global leader, innovator and expert in home kitchen food prepa- ration, Kenwood understands the com- bination of innovation, design and con- venience that is important to home chefs," said Mike Prager, De'Longhi Group NA's President and CEO. "Owners of Kenwood products are some of the most loyal in the world, and the Kenwood Kitchen Machine is an excellent example of why." In fact, every three seconds, a Kenwood kitchen appliance is sold around the world. It's an innovative, powerful and exceptionally designed tool that really is in a culinary class of its own. The "heart" of the Kitchen Machine is a European-designed turbocharged motor with up to 800 watts of power. With twice the force of ordinary stand mix- ers, it delivers the ideal amount of torque and can easily handle the heavi- est dough loads. A dual motor ventilation feature also prevents overheat- ing, extending the motor's life. Due to its strong motor and additional ventilation points, the kitchen machine can mix for longer periods of time without needing to cool down or stop in between mixing loads. Precision is another key element of the Kenwood Kitchen Machine. Its electronic variable speed control fea- ture allows for the gradual incorpora- tion of ingredients before mixing them at high speeds, thus reducing mess by keeping them in the bowl rather than splattering across the countertop. With three stainless steel bowl tools, a bowl capacity of up to seven quarts, dough capacity of up to 11 pounds, cake capacity of up to 10 pounds, and egg white capacity of up to 16, the machine is ready to tackle the most complicated daily or holiday meal preparation. Four built-in speed hubs allow the user to add a variety of attachments including a pasta maker and cutter, meat grinder, blender, food processor and ice cream maker. The Kenwood Kitchen Machines come com- plete with a power whisk, dough hook and Kenwood's signature K-Beater – designed for enhanced mixing perform- ance – providing the tools needed for easy, efficient and delicious mixing and baking. The bowl's rugged, easy-to-grip handles make it easy to remove, and the bowl tools are solid stainless steel and dishwasher safe making them durable and easy to clean. The Kenwood Kitchen Machine, available in Chef and Chef Major mod- els, is currently available; retail price: $499.95 and $649.95, respectively. For additional information and retail availability for all the new products, visit www.kenwoodworld.com.
