C o n s t r u c t i o n M a r k e t p l a c e W e d n e s d a y, J a n u a r y 2 0 , 2 0 1 6 4 0 WHIRLPOOL DEBUTS SMART KITCHEN, LAUNDRY APPLIANCES The world's leading global manufacturer of home appliances put its connected home integrations on display at CES in Las Vegas, with an array of breakthrough home appliance innovations developed with help from Nest, Amazon and Procter & Gamble. The company's flagship brand show- cased care-centric innovations, including products within the Whirlpool ® Smart Kitchen Suite featuring use of Amazon Dash Replenishment and the Smart Top Load Washer and Dryer that integrates with Works with Nest, as well as the rev- olutionary Swash™ clothing care system developed in partnership with P&G. "Innovation is in our DNA and a part of everything we do. It's deeply embed- ded in our people and our processes – starting with an understanding of our consumers, which enables us to learn and anticipate their preferences, and fulfill their needs," said Brett Dibkey, Vice President and General Manager, Integrated Business Units at Whirlpool Corporation. "By working with compa- nies who share our desire for purposeful innovation, combining our efforts and distinct strengths, we can create products that fully address the changing needs of consumers today." As the first home appliance brand to partner with Nest, the company's rela- tionships with companies like Amazon and Procter & Gamble have resulted in a lineup of new features and home appli- ance products complementing how fami- lies care for each other in the kitchen and the laundry room. The Whirlpool Smart Kitchen Suite with CareSync™ system is a three-piece suite of connected appliances – refrigera- tor, dishwasher and range – and the newest innovations from Whirlpool that allow families to control their kitchen appliances remotely using the Whirlpool mobile app and through select integration options with Works with Nest. When the app is synced with an Amazon account and a family's stock is estimated to be running low, the dishwasher can auto- matically order and ship dish detergent and affresh ® cleaner, through Amazon Dash Replenishment. The Whirlpool Smart Top Load Washer and Dryer was the first-ever laundry pair in the U.S. to introduce the use of technology to power philanthropic donations. The Connect to care™ pro- gram allows families to automatically donate an amount of their choosing to Habitat for Humanity with every load of laundry they wash. Whirlpool laundry was the first appliance brand to use Nest technology, and is now one of the first appliance brands to announce the use of Amazon Dash Replenishment. When consumers sync their Whirlpool mobile app with their Amazon account, the fea- ture estimates the amount of supplies remaining, targeting the right time to automatically re-order more detergent, affresh washer cleaner and dryer sheets. Both the Smart Dishwasher and Smart Top Load Washer and Dryer also integrate with the Nest Learning Thermostat. When Nest is set to Away, the dishwasher will automatically start a dish cycle and the washer and dryer can enable the eco-mode feature. "We're excited to bring Amazon Dash Replenishment to additional appli- ances for Whirlpool, including the brand's Smart Kitchen Suite," said Daniel Rausch, Director, Amazon Devices. "Amazon Dash Replenishment makes customers' lives easier. With integration into Whirlpool brand's appliances, cus- tomers won't ever have to worry about running out of items like laundry or dish- washer detergent again—they can simply rely on Amazon to automatically deliver those everyday essentials." While Nest and Amazon represent two of the company's latest partnership endeavors, the Swash at-home clothing care system that de-wrinkles, refreshes, restores fit and preserves clothing – in just ten minutes – is the latest collabora- tion between a longstanding partnership between Whirlpool Corporation and Procter & Gamble. KENWOOD KITCHEN MACHINE DELIVERS UNSURPASSED PERFORMANCE Turbocharged, highly versatile, and able to take a beating, the Kenwood Kitchen Machine makes chef-inspired cooking easier than ever. Since 2013, American cooks have been able to experience what cooks around the world have known for decades: The unsurpassed quality, superior perform- ance and innovation, and meticulous and timeless design of Kenwood prod- ucts. "As the global leader, innovator and expert in home kitchen food prepa- ration, Kenwood understands the com- bination of innovation, design and con- venience that is important to home chefs," said Mike Prager, De'Longhi Group NA's President and CEO. "Owners of Kenwood products are some of the most loyal in the world, and the Kenwood Kitchen Machine is an excellent example of why." In fact, every three seconds, a Kenwood kitchen appliance is sold around the world. It's an innovative, powerful and exceptionally designed tool that really is in a culinary class of its own. The "heart" of the Kitchen Machine is a European-designed turbocharged motor with up to 800 watts of power. With twice the force of ordinary stand mix- ers, it delivers the ideal amount of torque and can easily handle the heavi- est dough loads. A dual motor ventilation feature also prevents overheat- ing, extending the motor's life. Due to its strong motor and additional ventilation points, the kitchen machine can mix for longer periods of time without needing to cool down or stop in between mixing loads. Precision is another key element of the Kenwood Kitchen Machine. Its electronic variable speed control fea- ture allows for the gradual incorpora- tion of ingredients before mixing them at high speeds, thus reducing mess by keeping them in the bowl rather than splattering across the countertop. With three stainless steel bowl tools, a bowl capacity of up to seven quarts, dough capacity of up to 11 pounds, cake capacity of up to 10 pounds, and egg white capacity of up to 16, the machine is ready to tackle the most complicated daily or holiday meal preparation. Four built-in speed hubs allow the user to add a variety of attachments including a pasta maker and cutter, meat grinder, blender, food processor and ice cream maker. The Kenwood Kitchen Machines come com- plete with a power whisk, dough hook and Kenwood's signature K-Beater – designed for enhanced mixing perform- ance – providing the tools needed for easy, efficient and delicious mixing and baking. The bowl's rugged, easy-to-grip handles make it easy to remove, and the bowl tools are solid stainless steel and dishwasher safe making them durable and easy to clean. The Kenwood Kitchen Machine, available in Chef and Chef Major mod- els, is currently available; retail price: $499.95 and $649.95, respectively.
