C o n s t r u c t i o n M a r k e t p l a c e Tu e s d a y, J a n u a r y 1 9 , 2 0 1 6 1 2 BULLET TOOLS INNOVATES WITH MAGNUM SIDING CUTTERS Built to last and designed specifically for siding contractors who need a heavy- duty, dust free solution for cutting siding and siding trim, the Bullet Tools MAG- NUM Siding Series 613 (13-inch) and 620 (20-inch) cutters continue to revolu- tionize the way contractors cut siding. These top-of-the line shears provide a fast, clean gable and end cut on fiber cement, OSB, pressboard lap, vinyl, wood, siding trim and shingles up to a little more than one inch thick. They feature full metal-jacketed ball bearings for increased power and ease of opera- tion as well as mounting brackets for fast, easy tool stand mounting. Its hard- ened chromium-vanadium tool steel blades outlast saw blades 20 to one. The MAGNUM 620 shear also features a built-in AngleMaster dual fence system that allows operation from both sides of the table to facilitate accurate, repeat- able cuts. "During the past year we've been refining our tools into industry-specific categories including flooring, siding and insulation to better serve our distributors and ultimately the end user," explained Ben Toews President and Chief Executive Officer of Bullet Tools. "With increased demand in the siding category, we developed the MAGNUM Siding Series with product features that meet the contractor's need for a strong, reli- able, long-lasting shear that provides dust-free cutting on a variety of prod- ucts." The MAGNUM Siding Series 613 and 620 join a series of EZ Shear Siding and Siding Trim cut- ters including the one-of-a-kind 26- inch EZ Shear SST. The 26-inch EZ Shear (226SST) is the only tool on the market that cuts a 4/12 pitch on an eight- inch siding board while producing a very clean edge and no airborne dust. It's recognized by the world's largest fiber cement siding manufacturer as the best way to cut fiber cement siding. In addition to its line of siding shears, Bullet Tools manufactures a variety of flooring cutters for laminate, engineered, hardwood and other floor- ing products and a line of soft flooring cutters for luxury vinyl tile, carpet tile, rubber tile, cork and more. These shears range in size from nine inches to 40 inches and cut installation time by allowing installers to cut where they work and work where they cut, saving both time and money while also provid- ing job site effi- ciency and safety. Based in Hayden, Idaho, Bullet Tools is a U.S. manufacturer of innovative, cutting- edge installation solutions designed to improve the lives and livelihoods of tradespeople across the globe. The com- pany began in 1998 with a simple idea born of necessity by a longtime flooring installer, Dalen Gunn, who decided there had to be a better way to cut flooring and launched the Magnum Shear. With a commitment to improving installation efficiency and safety, Bullet Tools has grown into a world leader in flooring, siding and insulation cutting solutions that improve job site safety and save con- tractors time and money. AVOIDING POOR QUALITY PEBBLE TILES Pebble tiles can transform an environ- ment, creating an unparalleled natural stone surface. The beauty of the final design is intrinsically tied to the quality of the mosaic and no company is as com- mitted to creating the highest quality designs than Island Stone. Since introducing pebble tile to the U.S., Island Stone has continued to focus on ensuring its flagship design is easy to install and results in a beautiful, seamless surface. With growing demand, here are some key features that should always be looked for when choosing a pebble tile. Even surface: A pebble floor should offer a comfortable walking surface. Make sure the tile you are using has flat stones that have the backside sliced off to create a flat surface once installed. Good interlock: Creating a tile with a good interlocking outline is tricky, but essential to ensure a seamless final surface. Without a good interlock, the installation can be far more difficult and often the indi- vidual tiles can be seen in the end result. Quality and consistency of stones: Like any natural stone, pebbles vary dra- matically in hardness and color consis- tency. Using a reputable stone will ensure the final installation looks good for years to come. Hue variation: Natural stone varies, but it is important to create a tile with consistent variation so that once inter- locked together when installed the surface will appear consistent. Quality mesh and adhe- sive: Like any project, instal- lation is a major cost, and having a pebble tile that is easy to handle ensures the tile installer can focus on where it counts, creating a beautiful installation. Pebbles falling off mesh and coming off the surface all take focus and time away from the final goal. For more information, visit booth #S4090 in the South Hall or www. islandstone.com. U.S. SOURCED STONES SO GOOD THEY DEFY THE SENSES Invariably, when someone encounters Overstock Stone materials for the first time, there is a brief look of confusion on their face as their brain tries to connect what their eyes see and what their finger- tips feel. This look is often directed at company staff while the question escapes the customer's lips: "Is that stone?" While most of us can touch the Oak Canyon and know for a fact that it feels like stone, we are baffled by what we see with our eyes that deceives our sense of touch. The folks at Overstock Stone cannot contain the excitement they have for this material. "I love introducing people to it," one employee said. "I love watching them fall in love with it themselves, and begin to toss around what it would look like in their project. More often than not, I have to step back a bit and just let them enjoy the selection process." Overstock Stone lets their customers put their hands on the material, to men- tally place it where they envision it fitting best. Each stone has its own special, inherent character, and the differences draw each individual separately. The lighter tones appeal to some, the darker shades appeals to others. The wood-like grains are a magnet to some people, while the starburst and swirl patterning are the overture for others. In most cases, just as with the preponderance of granite, marble and quartz, the true customer connection hap- pens when a selection made from a hand- ful of close options. The natural variation in the stone can allow for it to comple- ment a considerable array of themes and motifs. Even in the variation, the stone shares themes within itself; slabs can be paired without book matching. One of the greatest attributes of the Oak Canyon slabs is that they're native to the United States. This stone is quarried in Oklahoma, and housed with our various distribu- tors. Now, we here in America can be proud to present stone that ranks alongside with stones that come from Brazil, Italy, China and India. The team at Overstock Stone encourages you to take a look at the new and unique addition of Oak Canyon to the realm of stone counter tops. We have a knowledgeable and friendly team of experts with decades of experience in the industry. Envision your next project with Oak Canyon slabs. Insullite and Insullite Pro Plus are recessed light covers designed to allow the installer to insulate safely and effectively around recessed lights and other heat-producing fixtures. Research has shown that without prop- er insulation, areas around recessed lights can allow a large amount of heat energy to enter or escape from a building. However, insulation placed too close to lights can also cause a fire hazard. When installed, Insullite allows insulation to be placed as close to the light or heat-producing fixture as possible, without the risk of fire. The Insullite is man- ufactured from post-consumer recycled paper products. The cardboard Insullite is available in vented and non-vented versions and is available in two sizes: 12.5-by-12.5- by-14 inches and 10-by-10-by-12 inches. Another version of the recessed light cover that Insulation Solutions has to offer is the Insullite Pro Plus. The Insullite Pro Plus is manufactured with galvanized steel and is also available in a vented or non- vented version. The Insullite Pro Plus comes in the same two size options as the regular Insullite. Both the Insullite and the Insullite Pro Plus allows insulation to be applied around and on top of light fixtures. Easy to install, these recessed light covers are compatible with all types of insulation, cellulose, fiber- glass and rockwall, and can be used with both IC and non-IC rated fixtures. Insulation Solutions makes products with feedback in mind. "We are always looking for ways to make things easier for the installer," said Don Meyer, Founder of Insulation Solutions. "It's important to get feedback from people who are actually using our products so we know if we need to change or improve anything." Whether you are looking for cardboard or steel, vented or non-vented recessed light covers, the Insullite is your solution!
