As many consumers walk into a dealer- ship to purchase a new vehicle, one thing that is not brought to their atten- tion, or maybe just assumed by many, is that their vehicle will come standard with an automatic transmission. With all the advances we've come to see in electronics, computers, safety devices and the like, it is not hard to understand why we have seen an upswing in six, seven or even eight speed automatics and DCT transmissions that shift quicker than any three pedal car could dream of. We've come to a point in our automotive segment where technology is advancing at such a fast pace that in many minds, older technology seems to be just that: old. Some look at this tech- nology as being ready to be lead out to the pasture. However, Fidanza Performance begs to differ. There are many vehicles that have stayed true to the manual transmission being offered with nothing but that; to name a few, Corvette C6 Z06, ZR1, Subaru WRX/STI, Ford Focus/Fiesta ST, Viper SRT, Honda Civic SI, Mustang Shelby, and the list goes on, with others still having the option, leaving it to the owner's discretion to make the choice. Should we believe that having a manual car makes it bet- ter? Not necessarily. Against most newer performance DCT shift vehicles, the manuals may lack the speed and shifting precision many would like to think they have. So what is it that drives a person to go with a manual transmission? Is it to shift gears, enjoying the nos- talgia of our automotive heritage, or have most been around them since they were kids and are just comfortable? Is it as simple as the age-old dilemma, that a true performance car should have a manual gearbox? Fidanza Performance doesn't believe there is one simple answer for this. As long as people enjoy shifting gears, it is on board. Fidanza Performance feels that the manual is not as readily available as the industry would like to see it, due to changes in multiple different areas of society as a whole, many of which could be fixed. Take the younger gener- ation under your wing. Show them where this industry started and let them see the significance that a manual transmission has. Let them see and feel what shifting their own gears is like, the attach- ment you feel when driv- ing a race course, feeling the pavement through your right hand while setting up for the next corner, the adrenaline when the car launches from the start line on a drag strip while you shift through the gears quicker than ever before. Remind the youth that there is much more to a car than WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and automated controls in every aspect. Fidanza Performance has been a leader in the aftermarket segment sup- porting many brands and types of vehi- cles. With the continued growth of its flywheel and clutch offerings, it is hard to see how enthusiasts would not like to shift gears. Visit Fidanza Performance at booth #23232.
