A f t e r m a r k e t D a i l y N e w s Tu e s d a y, N o v e m b e r 3 , 2 0 1 5 9 2 and how it came about. BB: My daughter Jen was washing her car and kept getting annoyed when the hose got stuck under the tires. Among other choice things, she said, "You're an engineer. Fix it." Actually, she remembered a plastic wheel chock we had in the garage and asked if that could be used to keep the hose away from the tire. It wouldn't, but it did spark the idea for a solution. Hozeez™ was born. ADN: Tell us a little bit about yourself and the company. BB: Bishop Innovations is a family- owned business that produces all of its products in America. Our passion is auto- motive, but we also develop other prod- ucts, all considered innovative solutions to everyday problems. I began my career as a Design Engineer developing auto- motive sensors and evolved into manu- facturing and corporate management. Having held roles including COO and Vice President of Operations, and research and development for major cor- porations, I can engineer solutions and then effectively produce and market those products. ADN: What is unique about the Hozeez? BB: People have tried to solve this problem as long as cars have been around. When I researched patents I found designs going back to the early days of the automobile. I saw aban- doned patents and products that looked good but didn't work well. I looked at the opportunity from an engineer's point of view and saw two main chal- lenges: The product had to work on a wide variety of tire sizes and it had to Bishop Innovations (Cont'd. from p. 1) stay lodged against the tire. Substantial time went into prototyping and testing numerous concepts to develop an effi- cient design that always works. It works on passenger cars, "rubber band" tires on tuners and sports cars, and light truck/SUV tires. The patent-pending design results in a product that gets pulled tighter under the tire by the hose instead of being dislodged like cheap competitive products. Hozeez doesn't need careful placement; all you do is drop it on the driveway and kick it under the tire. It simply works. If you forget to pick it up and drive over it, it will still work! ADN: Does the company have any other products? BB: We have the Deck-Tiedown™, which we introduced at the National Hardware Show in this same convention center several years ago. This product is a removable and re-usable tiedown clip for securing grills, outdoor furniture, pool covers and other items to decks and docks to prevent loss or damage from high winds. Deck-Tiedown has been fea- tured on HGTV and QVC and is avail- able through our website. Like Hozeez, it is made in the United States. New auto- motive products are in development for introduction in 2016. ADN: How can people get your products or contact you? BB: We are exhibiting in SEMA booth #16524 to introduce Hozeez to aftermar- ket accessories and catalog retailers. The product is available on our website, www.hozeez.com. I can be contacted via email at bob@bishopinnovations.com or by phone at 781.264.5698. For more information, stop by booth #16524 or visit www.hozeez.com. tubing for replacement of fluid carrying lines for hydraulic brake, fuel, transmis- sion and oil cooler lines? DG: Copper nickel is easy to bend and flare and will not rust, making each fluid line replacement a permanent repair. ADN: Why are steel lines rusting and corroding faster when they are protecting the steel with better plating or coatings like PVF (poly vinyl floride green polymer coat- ing), gal fan with epoxy paint (light grey coating) and Nygal (thick nylon black coating) which requires the tube nuts used on the ends of the lines to be over- sized on the inside diameter? DG: Most roads in northern climates use rock salt to melt ice and snow from roads in the winter and have for many years. Those same roads are now being sprayed down with liquid sodium and magnesium chloride which is applied to roads before the storm arrives. These concentrated products coat the underside of vehicles and get into places that are difficult to clean and corrosion accelerates, especially as the temperature climbs above freezing. ADN: Do any original equipment manu- facturers use copper nickel tubing lines as original equipment? FMSI (Cont'd. from p. 1) DG: Volvo has used copper nickel tubing since 1976 as original equip- ment after determining at that time that it was the only tubing that would not eventually fail in their climate. The Society of Automotive Engineers in 1965 said that copper nickel tubing is outstandingly superior to conven- tional steel brake lines. Many other world class vehicle manufacturers like Rolls Royce, Lotus, Aston Martin, Porsche and Audi use copper nickel fluid carrying lines. Copper nickel is also used by the military, fire fighting and ocean going vessels for their hydraulic lines. ADN: Does copper nickel tubing meet the same standards as steel tubing lines, especially brake lines? DG: Copper nickel tubing meets the fol- lowing world standards: SAEJ1650, ASTM B466 which specifies dimen- sions, tensile and yield strength. Formability and internal cleanliness con- form to specifications SAEJ527, ASTM254, SMMT C5B (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders). Also the alloy meets the requirements for pres- sure containment, fabrication and corro- sion resistance for ISO4038 (International Standards Organization) and SAE J1047. Visit FMSI at booth #1655.
