PEAKfresh products cover your modified atmosphere needs while Image Plastics supplies RPC covers and other flexible packaging. This year, the company debuts stand-up pouches, freez- er bags, high clarity stand-up and plain MAP bags, microwave-cooking and soup bags as well as label, tape and stretch film. PEAKfresh products such as box liners and pallet covers are well known around the world for their simplicity and proven ability to provide longer shelf life. The company's plastic films are made with LDPE resin impregnat- ed with natural minerals that extract ethylene; at the same time creating the high humidity levels that produce needs to survive during storage and transportation. PEAKfresh products are used for all varieties of fruits and vegetables. PEAKfresh's most popular pallet cover is highly used in the strawberry indus- try, taking the place of CO 2 gas. Our customers find that they save money in high labor costs and energy while uti- lizing their cooler space for berries instead of large pieces of equipment to induce CO 2 . PEAKfresh pallet covers can be placed with two people in a mat- ter of seconds with no equipment or extra space needed. Another big seller is the vented pal- let cover. These are often used for a mixed variety of fruit and vegetables that PEAKfresh (Cont'd. from p. 1) need to breathe more or that experience cold chain fluctuations. These covers allow the product to re-cool rapidly when temperatures vary during transport, all the while keeping high humidity levels and creating longer shelf life. PEAKfresh for flowers is also being featured, as well as consumer home-use produce bags for retail. Image Plastics and Packaging has always been known for a variety of pack- aging products. For seven years the com- pany has been producing quality high stretch vented RPC covers. Last year, it was the only U.S. manufacturer to take the unique stretch-memory blend over- seas to manufacture a more competitive product and allow customers to benefit from this unique cover at lower costs and lower field waste. The company is also featuring its full line of stand-up pouches. Whether you are looking to market your fresh pro- duce or frozen foods for retail, PEAKfresh has what you need at low costs with the highest quality on the mar- ket. All pouches can be customized with your artwork and come in variety of sizes. Recently, PEAKfresh increased its label capabilities for thermal transfer, direct thermal, color-specialty and ther- mal transfer ribbons. Visitors to the Honeybear booth can get a sneak peek and taste of the company's 2016 Pazazz variety, the all new winter varietal that earned rave reviews from retailers and customers alike in market testing over the past two years. "We're in the final stages of harvest- ing this year's Pazazz crop," says Don Roper, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honeybear Brands. "And we're amazed at what we're seeing com- ing off the trees. The flavor profile, tex- ture and overall eating experience are second to none. We can't wait to see how Pazazz does when we roll out to our largest ever market by market launch in the first quarter of 2016." A descendent of the crowd-pleasing Honeycrisp but with a flavor profile all its own, Pazazz has been in careful devel- opment by Honeybear Brands for more than seven years. The star of the compa- ny's varietal development program and a true winter apple, Pazazz offers retailers a premium variety guaranteed to drive sales beyond the fall peak season. The variety is harvested in late fall for a bal- ance of sugars and starches that offers an ideal flavor any time from late December onward. As starches convert to sugars post harvest, Pazazz develops a perfect blend of sweet and tart flavors as well as exceptional crispness and great texture. "We're in the business of creating the next truly great national variety," adds Roper. "That takes time, careful nurturing in just the right climates and incredible attention to detail. It also requires the respected input of our retail partners nation- Honeybear Brands (Cont'd. from p. 1) wide, who see day in and day out how an apple really hits the mark with customers. Last year, Pazazz flew off every one of their shelves, so we're expecting the variety to break all records this next season." In 2015, Honeybear conducted Pazazz sampling in more than 125 U.S. and Canadian retail stores in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Ontario, Canada. For 2016, the company anticipates a 20 percent increase in mar- ket availability across the country before full national availability in 2017. Pazazz was originally developed by Doug Shefelbine from Holman, Wisconsin, and is grown in Minnesota and Washington. Additional orchards in New York, Washington, Wisconsin and Nova Scotia, Canada will generate increasingly more volume as Honeybear readies the Pazazz variety for national success. Honeybear is a leading grower and developer of premium apple varieties. The company started as Wescott Agri Products, a family-run apple orchard in the early 1970s. From that early start sev- eral generations ago, Honeybear still employs the same hands-on, personal attention to apple varieties produced through the Honeybear Apple Varietal Development Program. Honeybear is the leading grower of Honeycrisp in the Northwest and offers complete domestic and global apply supply integration from varietal development to growing, pack- ing, shipping and retailer support.
