H a r d w a r e & H o u s e w a r e s R e v i e w 6 9 W e d n e s d a y, M a y 6 , 2 0 1 5 GB: BeraTek Industries is a product design and manufacturing company based in the Midwest. Our team has mas- tered the art of developing, manufactur- ing and marketing simple, innovative solutions for life's little challenges. Our mission is to offer innovative, easy-to- use solutions that make everyone's life a little easier. HHR: What sort of little challenges? GB: Our first product, VuSee™, The Universal Baby Monitor Shelf was developed after my wife and I brought home our first son. We needed a safe place for the baby monitor, a place that would allow us to see our son anywhere in the crib and keep the cord out of reach. I created an angled monitor shelf, which attached to the wall quickly and easily. Now other parents are benefiting from the use of VuSee to hold their baby mon- itors. HHR: You are launching several new products this week. What is the Hold & Go™ Slow Cooker? GB: The Hold & Go has an innovative single handle and spill-free locking lid, so it can easily be carried with just one hand, and you don't need to worry about spilling. The handle doubles as a conven- ient place to prop the lid while serving, keeping your countertops clean and your hands free to serve. It's the perfect solu- tion for parties, potlucks, tailgates or any- time you use a slower cooker. HHR: Tell our readers about the Power Perch™. BeraTek (Cont'd. from p. 1) GB: The Power Perch is a shelf that can be added anywhere you have an outlet. The Power Perch attaches to the wall using the existing outlet cover, and then you instantly have a shelf for holding everyday objects. We have one in every room in our house, including my garage. I use the Power Perch to store the battery charger for my cordless drill, saving bench top space. My wife uses it to hold and charge her cell phone in the bedroom and living room. The Power Perch can be used anywhere – kitchen, bathroom, garage, family room – anywhere you have an outlet. It's also a great solution for college students to use in their dorm rooms where space is truly limited. HHR: Can you talk about the Café Wall Caddy™? GB: The Café Wall Caddy keeps cof- fee pods right next to your single-serve coffee maker. It attaches to the wall using an existing outlet cover and saves valuable counter space. You can store a variety of flavors in one place without clutter. HHR: Is there anything else you'd like to tell our readers? GB: BeraTek's mission is to simplify your life with easy-to-use innovative solutions that solve life's daily chal- lenges. We develop and manufacture our products in the U.S.A. and we welcome ideas for additional products. You can find more innovative solutions or submit ideas on our website. After a few years of putting mulch and plastic sheeting around young trees and then still pulling weeds, they thought there must be a better way. The idea was TreePans. TreePans expand with the growth of the tree and are made with recycled plastic, which replaces mulch, plastic sheeting and water buckets. They protect young trees from rodents, lawn mowers and weed- eaters, provide for slow fertilization, pre- vent soil compaction, mold and fungus, and create a greenhouse environment. "They are reusable," said Brown. "They save water and do not need herbi- cides to stop weed growth. That's good for our environment." "Many people have good ideas, but never act on them," said Brown. Brown's daughter, Maggie Mae, has suffered since age three with what she calls "the jolts." In 2012, she was diagnosed with Hereditary Angioedema (HAE). "HAE is a very rare and potentially life-threatening genetic condition that occurs in about one in 10,000 to one in TreePans (Cont'd. from p. 1) 50,000 people," according to the U.S. HAE Association. "Its symptoms include episodes of edema (swelling) in various body parts including the hands, feet, face and airway. In addition, patients often have bouts of excruciating abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting that is caused by swelling in the intestinal wall." It was during this year that Maggie had to come home early from school nearly every day due to facial swelling and pain, said Brown. "HAE sufferers typically miss 120 days of work a year. This prompted me to make that first call on Sept. 1 to start our project," said Brown. "I probably would have never made that call if I did not have that Maggie motivation." Brown is not retiring from insur- ance, but wanted to create a way for Maggie to be financially independent. Her brothers both offered to take care of her, but Brown wanted to guarantee her financial future. That is how TreePans came to be. Visit TreePans at booth #37131. For more information, go to www.treepans.com. distributor for wall mounted electrical heaters in the U.S. with the brand name "Amaze-Heater." We believe in doing one thing and doing it better than anyone else in the market. We are a company which has major interests in the manu- facturing of our products and are owned and operated by engineers on both sides (manufacturing and distribution). This is the reason that we are able to respond very quickly to customer requirements. HHR: Tell us more about the improve- ments planned for your heaters. PV: Most of our improvements are driv- en by our customer's feedback. Some of the following are already implemented and some are in the pipe-line and will be ready for launch by next season: plug-in thermostat for all three sizes of heaters; pizza style box – easy for product removal; sturdier packing with rein- forced corner protection; Ezymount (patent pending) – drill-less mounting system; Heatguard – a front mounted protective cover that reduces exposed surface temperature to about 125 degrees Fahrenheit; Legwarmer – for under the desk usage in office settings; Footwarmer – heater pad for resting and warming feet (pending UL approval). HHR: Why did you change your brand name from Cozy-Heater to Amaze- Heater? PV: As we started the 2014 to 2015 sales season, we realized that there was a lot of marketplace confusion about the word "Cozy." There are a lot of companies operating with this word in their name Amaze-Heater (Cont'd. from p. 1) and in their product. We want to position ourselves as a unique brand name offer- ing innovative features to our customers, and this made us change our brand name to Amaze-Heater. HHR: What distinguishes your company and products from the competition? PV: In addition to the enhancements and improvements described above, each and every point below distinguishes our com- pany and products from the competition: We are the only company to offer four different sizes (100W (Legwarmer), 250W, 400W and 600W) with Heat Reflectors, Footwarmer, Ezymount and Heatguard – all geared towards convective space heating. We are the first to offer Heat Reflector for all sizes. This Heat Reflector mini- mizes heat loss into the wall and increases the efficiency of the heater. Each and every panel is hand finished and heat-tested and triple insulated for electrical safety. We offer Ezymount, a feature in which one is able to install the wall mounted heater without drilling any holes into the wall and without using any tools. We also offer Heatguard. This feature not only reduces exposed surface temperature but it also improves the heater efficien- cy in heat distribution by adding a sec- ond layer of convection. As an added bonus, due to the reduced surface tem- perature, one is now able to decorate the unit with any standard paint or stickers or sports logos. Visit Amaze-Heater at booth #5331. PRADCO Outdoor Brands' power- ful portfolio includes several top hunting brands such as Moultrie, Summit, Code Blue and Knight & Hale. Moultrie As leaders of game management for more than 35 years, Moultrie is known for products that are reliable, durable, top performing and afford- able. It offers a full line of high-qual- ity game cameras and wildlife feed- ers designed, tested and used by hunters, game management profes- sionals and outdoor enthusiasts. With an insight for innovation, a commit- ment to excellence and continuous improvement, the company is driven to develop new and superior products year after year. Moultrie is known as the number one feeder-selling company in the indus- try. It believes that's a result of its great products, superior customer service and loyal customers. Summit Treestands Summit Treestands are carefully engi- neered to be the most silent, secure, com- fortable and concealed hunting treestands on the market. From versatile climbing treestands to adaptable tripod stands, all of its treestands are built to last. All Summit stands are designed and engineered to meet or exceed standards set by the Treestands Manufacturers Association. Summit knows what it takes to make quality products. It doesn't build stands that it thinks will work; it builds PRADCO (Cont'd. from p. 1) stands that it knows will work. Code Blue Scents Code Blue set new quality standards for the scent industry as the world's first and only company with a patented certified collection process that guar- antees "One Deer to One Bottle." While other hunting scents may use a blend of urines from many animals or of oils or gland secretions, Code Blue is never a blend of anything. It's that simple. Its "One Deer to One Bottle" process means that every bottle of deer scent, doe estrus and doe urine will be more convincing to a wary, dominant whitetail buck. Knight & Hale In 1972, Harold Knight and David Hale simply intended to make calls that were more realistic. Ultimately, they ended up redefining the game call business. With a product line that includes turkey, waterfowl, deer, pred- ator, small and big game, every corner of North America has yielded to Knight & Hale calls. Likewise, numer- ous world championships have been taken with the designs of these two friends from Kentucky. Whether it's a friction call or bugle, and produces a grunt or yelp, every Knight & Hale call comes with real hunt- ing experience, as if it's molded into the construction. It's those practical insights that guide product development. Innovative, effective and reliable – every new product is the continuation of its founders' principles.
