G a m i n g N e w s 1 5 W e d n e s d a y, A p r i l 1 , 2 0 1 5 KEEP YOUR PHONE SECURE WITH BEELINE CASES An interview with Brent Williams, President, Beeline Cases, Inc. GN: Tell us about Beeline Cases. How did you get the idea? BW: Beeline Cases was born out of neces- sity. I was snowboarding with my son at Whistler a couple years ago, and we were on the chair lift when I took my five-day- old iPhone 5S out to take a picture. Next thing I knew, it was flying 150 feet through the air into deep powder below us. While driving home, I came up with this idea and pulled off the road to scratch it down on my notepad. Eighteen months later, it's reality. GN: What makes Beeline unique? BW: I designed a cell phone case that is minimal, durable, stylish and functional. The Beeline carabiner will secure your phone to your backpack, belt loop or purse, so you never have to worry about losing it. Beeline has a sleek built-in carabiner on a Kevlar cord that extends out of the phone case so you can use it to call, text or take a photo and then simply retract the cord and the cara- biner returns to its hidden position. GN: Who do you feel your end user for the brand is? BW: The Beeline case is great for all con- sumers. It's a well-built everyday cell phone case. If you're an active person that enjoys hiking, riding, golfing, running, hunting, paddling, fishing, traveling, work- ing or anywhere in between, you can be secure with a Beeline by your side. This would also be a great tool for fire, police or military personnel. Also, we can all tell a story about leaving our cell phone on the airplane, or in a restaurant or bar, but a Beeline case keeps your phone by your side. GN: What phone cases are you manufac- turing? BW: Currently we offer cases for the iPhone 5/5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+. We are in development on Samsung cases for Q2 2015. We have a great color palette and are also licensed to manufacture Mossy Oak camouflage cases. It's a fresh line-up, great colors and I'm looking forward to seeing the response at retail. Beeline is ready for business. For more information, go to www.beeline cases.com, call 206.948.1616 or email info@beelinecases.com. THE VALUE OF PROVISIONAL CREDIT TO CASINO RETAIL OPERATIONS By Bob Allexon, VP of Product Management at Glory Global Solutions, North America Cash has always been a primary payment instrument for retailers in the gaming industry, and it will continue to be for years to come. Managing this cash is both costly to process and to secure. It can require expensive armored services to move it from point A to point B, as well as sig- nificant staff resources. Indeed, staff can spend hours counting and balancing cash drawers throughout the day or reconcil- ing books at the end of a shift. It is therefore no surprise that gam- ing enterprises are looking to automate these processes with cash handling solu- tions from companies like Glory Global Solutions. Automated cash handling can significantly reduce employee stress and improve accuracy, efficiency and securi- ty across the complex transaction land- scapes of casinos and their retail opera- tions. In addition to these core benefits, the introduction of automated cash manage- ment can open the door to techniques that can generate further benefits. One model that we've seen in the wider retail industry is for businesses to work closely with their banks to introduce tech- nology solutions for remote cash capture. Under this con- cept, retailers deal with cash through the same automated handling processes, but they are able to receive provisional cred- it from their bank at the end of the day for cash that remains locked securely on site in their cash recycler. By effectively eliminating idle cash that is trapped on site, provisional credit allows deposits to be credited to a busi- ness' account sooner, which can provide increased visibility of its overall finances, faster access to funds, and will ultimately have an impact on its bottom line. Also, as cash can be stored for longer in cash recyclers on site, fewer cash deliveries and pick-ups are needed, meaning that this con- cept can reduce the risk of theft and the cost of armored carrier services. Given the additional benefits this offers, you can bank on for- ward-thinking casinos and retailers in the gaming industry taking advantage of this concept, particu- larly as more move towards automating their cash handling processes. GROWING TREND FOR SMOKEFREE INDOOR AIR In the gaming industry, it's said that change is the only constant – including the evolving views on secondhand smoke. Today, 82 percent of the U.S. population are nonsmokers, and there is more awareness of the health hazards of secondhand smoke. Not surprisingly, more sovereign tribal governments are considering a 100 percent smokefree indoor air environment for their work- places and facilities. "Implementing policies that elimi- nate commercial tobacco use in tribally- controlled spaces is an effective way of reducing the health risks associated with secondhand smoke exposure," said Cynthia Hallett, Executive Director of American Nonsmokers' Rights Foundation. "Tribal governments have a unique opportunity to protect those indi- viduals residing, working or visiting sov- ereign tribal lands. Everyone should have the right to breathe clean air." Hundreds of gambling venues across the U.S. have either opened with or transi- tioned to a smokefree policy, providing valuable lessons learned for how to make going smokefree a smooth process. One example is con- ducting player club surveys to under- stand the changing perceptions of current players as well the potential to bring in new gaming customers. Another example is the design and placement of outdoor smoking areas that are accessible from gaming floors. Smokefree tribal casinos ensure that gaming jobs are in an envi- ronment that is healthy and free from secondhand com- mercial tobacco smoke, and beneficial to all tribal employ- ees, patrons and customers. Secondhand smoke in the workplace is a leading preventable cause of health- care costs, chronic disease and death. There is no safe level of exposure to sec- ondhand smoke. Smoking sections, smoking rooms and ventilation systems do not address the health hazards. For more information, visit booth #336 or www.smokefreecasinos.org.
