NATURALLY HEALTHY www.gourmetnews.com n MARCH 2015 n GOURMET NEWS N H 7 0 Orgasms: The Best Natural Cure-All By Rebecca Cook, Director of Marketing, Wholesale Operations and New Business Development, Sinclair Institute ® and Natu- ral Contours ® . Sinclair Institute provides sexual health and wellness information, education and products that not only help solve problems and overcome issues, but that more impor- tantly add happiness and pleasure to peo- ples' lives. Human beings are unique creatures in that they have sex for pleasure. People know that an orgasm is a wonderful experience, but na- ture knows even better that there is so much more to the orgasm than meets the eye. If more people understood the wide reaching benefits of the orgasm, they would definitely be stocking up on organic lubricant, personal massagers and planning more date nights with their partner. Among the most important benefits result- ing from an orgasm is the release of oxytocin by the hypothalamus. This increase in the feeling of euphoria is a natural stress reliever that not only induces more restful sleep and relaxation, but has been found to help relieve pain and depression. Oxytocin has been cor- related with the urge to bond, be affectionate and protect. Imagine a world with less anti- depressants and pain relievers and more in- timacy. An orgasm is easier and certainly more natural and fun. We know we should all exercise more. Well, sex is exercise … there's no two ways about it. "Sexercise," as we like to call it, burns calories, tones muscles, increases cir- culation, respiration and flexibility. Rather than hitting the gym, change up your routine and add sex to your workout instead. Think about the great yoga poses you can incorpo- rate – downward facing dog, bridge, plow – for those yogis out there, I know your imaginations are running wild. Exercises that strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, like Kegels, were invented to help treat urinary stress incontinence, but it has been discovered that they have other ben- efits as well; namely, they tone the vagina and improve orgasms. Hold- ing the bridge pose is similar to doing a Kegel, because you squeeze the same PC (pubococcygeus) muscle which supports the uterus, bladder, small intestine and rectum. Exercising the PC muscle im- proves orgasms, and orgasms strengthen the PC muscle. Sounds like a win/win. Sex and orgasms feel fabulous and are unlike any other pleasure. It is the closest we can get to our partner, the most vulner- able we are with anyone, the pinnacle of intimacy. Having an orgasm is so pleasur- able that it makes you want to have more, and by doing so, you are motivated to have these intimate moments again and again. Women (or men) who don't have orgasms when they have sex are much less likely to want to con- tinue in active sexual lives. A happy, rewarding sex life makes most other aspects of life just seem better, more worthwhile, brighter and happier. Whether wanting to improve your mood, reduce stress, sleep sounder, exercise more, prevent incontinence or simply have a more fulfilling intimate love life, the answer might be as simple as "have more orgasms." A Grandmother's Journey to Health Yields Soup for Every Diet By Anne Chong Hill, Creator of Smart Soup Growing up on a hobby farm in Brunei, food was an important part of my childhood. I was often exposed to exotic flavors influenced by Brunei's diverse culture: from European to Indian, Indonesian to Chinese. My mother used fresh, whole–food ingredients from our farm to create delicious meals for my family. Food continued to be a big part of my life, both personally and professionally. In order to supplement our family income when I was a young mother, I sold specialty dishes and pastries to local stores, eventually opening a business selling prepared food to restaurants and schools. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with hy- pertension that doctors said was likely brought on by diet and lifestyle. I realized I needed to make a change in my life and to do that, I took control of what I knew best: food. Having been accustomed to rich, delicious meals that I shared with my family, I re- fused to compromise on flavor but also wanted to be sure I understood what it meant to make smart, healthy choices. I armed my- self with the knowledge to eat and cook sim- ply but deliciously, creating a line of soups inspired by my homeland and travels, with flavors like Thai Coconut Curry and Moroccan Chick- pea. Realizing the lack of healthy, low-sodium pre- pared foods on the market, I eventually decided to break into retail and share the soups with the public. From my kitchen to yours, Smart Soup provides a delicious, healthy meal for fami- lies on the go. For more information, visit www.thesmart soup.com or stop by booth #3579, Hall D.
