Lucky's Market Announces
Steve Black as New President
Lucky's Market recently announced that Steve Black
has been appointed as President of the company ef-
fective immediately. Mr. Black brings more than 38
years of relevant industry experience to his new role,
having previously served as Vice President of Opera-
tions, CIO and CMO of Sprouts Farmers Markets.
Mr. Black's experiences in key roles in the retail gro-
cery space make him a natural to help lead the Lucky's
management team. Prior to his roles at Sprouts, he
was the Vice President of Operations and Vice Presi-
dent of IT and Marketing at Sunflower Farmers Market
and was the transitional executive leader during the
Sprouts/Sunflower merger.
Mr. Black has also served as Senior Vice President
of Center Store Purchasing and Pricing at Bruno's Su-
permarkets in Alabama. He spent the majority of his
career at United Supermarkets of Oklahoma, where he
held various store level management roles along with
headquarters IT, marketing and buying positions.
Sean Crane Appointed
Interim CEO of The Fresh Market
The Fresh Market Inc., a growing specialty grocery re-
tailer, recently announced that the Board of Directors
appointed Sean Crane, Executive Vice President and
Chief Operating Officer, as Interim Chief Executive Of-
ficer, effective immediately. Craig Carlock, President
and Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board
of Directors, has left the Company and has resigned as
a member of the Board. The Company's Board of Di-
rectors has retained a national executive search firm
to assist in identifying and evaluating candidates for
the permanent position of President and CEO.
Sean Crane, Interim CEO, is a seasoned executive
with fourteen years of senior management experience
with The Fresh Market, most recently serving as Ex-
ecutive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
since 2012, Senior Vice President of Store Operations
from 2006-2012 and Senior Vice President of Real Es-
tate and Development from 2005-2006. Additionally,
Crane served as Interim Chief Financial Officer from
December 2012 through June 2013.
Unified Announces Senior Team
Promotions and Additions
Unified Grocers, the largest wholesale grocery distributor
in the western United States, has made a number of key
internal promotions and additions to its leadership team
designed to support its growth strategy. Key among the
announced changes are three promotions within the
company's senior management team. President of Mar-
ket Centre Joe Falvey and Chief Marketing Officer Sue
Klug have been elevated to the position of Executive Vice
President. And Chief Information Officer Gary Herman
has been promoted to Senior Vice President.
In addition, the company announced a number of ad-
ditions to the executive team. Mike Brown has been pro-
moted to Vice President of Retail Services. Blake Larson
has been promoted to Vice President of Accounting. Keith
Miller has been promoted to Vice President of Market
Centre Operations. And Ray VanWetten has been pro-
moted to Vice President of Sales for the Pacific Northwest.
Unified is also welcoming a new member to its
team: Gregg Bostick. Bostick joins the company in the
position of Vice President of Logistics. He brings a
wealth of experience in food distribution with Americold
Logistics, SuperValu, Pinnacle Foods and C&S Whole-
sale Grocers. Bostick will oversee company-wide dis-
tribution, transportation and maintenance functions. In
this key position, he will be responsible for developing
logistics and distribution strategies to meet the needs
of the company's members.
