GOURMET NEWS www.gourmetnews.com n JANUARY 2015 n GOURMET NEWS 1 6 Columbia Valley Family Farms Unveils Newly Designed Labels for Foster's Pickled Products Columbia Valley Family Farms Inc., produc- ers of Foster's Pickled Asparagus and Green Beans, is located in the heart of the Colum- bia Basin in Washington State. Owners Kevin Filbrun and Bryan Lynch have a pas- sion for agriculture and are family oriented brothers who have been farming for more than 20 years. They are active in the local community through coaching youth sporting teams, volunteering in community service, giving to charities and providing support for youth missions. Their success can be attrib- uted to operating with integrity and imple- menting sustainable farming programs. These definitive traits have brought a long line of farming to an eager fourth generation, who are now learning what it means to bring a quality product to the marketplace. Columbia Valley Family Farms Inc. is ex- cited to announce the unveiling of a newly designed line of labels for Foster's Pickled Products. Its crisp and tangy pickled beans and asparagus were already perfect, so it made changes the only place it could: on the outside. Now, both its labels and contents are just as eye-popping, standing out on store shelves as well as at parties, in salads, drinks and on dining room tables. Through the careful imple- mentation of intentional steps, it provides the excel- lence its customers have come to expect over the last two and a half decades. The hand-harvested asparagus is precisely cut daily and imme- diately shipped from its fields to the fresh packing lines or to the processing plant for pick- ling. With the processing plants only a mere 10 miles from the asparagus fields, Foster's guarantees a fresh product going into processing and ultimately on to the consumer. "Growing the raw product in our own fields give us an advantage, the consumer can buy our asparagus knowing that it's been processed fresh or placed into the jar for pickling within 24 hours," said Kevin Filbrun, President of Co- lumbia Valley Family Farms (Foster's Pickled Products). Loyal customers in the United States and Canada will see the sleek, newly designed label on Foster's Pickled Products in major wholesale chains, retail outlets and roadside stands in 2015. These great products have been pleasing cus- tomers for over 20 years and Columbia Val- ley Family Farms Inc. is looking forward to seeing these new "classier" products distrib- uted for years to come. Following in the footsteps of patriarchs Vincenzo and son, Pat Ricchiuti, are Patrick and Vincent Ric- chiuti, representing the third-and-fourth gen- eration, with an aim to carry on the family legacy of being a vital diversified California agricultural business. The Ricchiuti family has long been known worldwide for its almonds and, more re- cently, for its organic almonds under the P- R Farms, Inc. label. P-R Farms, Inc. is a grower, huller, packer and shipper in addi- tion to being qualified in all export regula- tions which has earned it an excellent inter- national reputation. As a member of the Al- mond Board of California, P-R Farms, Inc. abides by prescribed grower practices that are sustainable, economical and environmen- tally friendly. With a strong commitment to stay abreast of technological advancements, P-R Farms, Inc. installed a state-of-the-art Satake Vision System that utilizes electronic optical color sorting tailored to identify qual- ity almonds. Thus, the family continually reevaluates and upgrades equipment and production methodologies to ensure excep- tional products, efficiency and food safety. In a quest to continue diversification while responding to consumer demands, the Ric- chiuti family took on a new venture in 2008, drawing upon old world expertise and four genera- tions of farming in the heart of California's San Joaquin Valley to craft 100 percent estate-grown organic extra virgin olive oil. The Ricchiuti's Enzo Olive Oil Company remains steadfast in its pursuit to uphold the family's 100-year tradition of excellence by planting each and every tree, harvesting the crop, milling the fruit, and bottling the oil under the direction and supervision of Patrick and Vincent Ricchiuti. This meticu- lous, hands-on approach is what Patrick and Vincent believe it takes to produce the finest, most flavorful, aromatic oil. As a proud member of the California Olive Oil Council, Enzo Olive Oil Company adheres to the most stringent standards in the world and shares in the organization's mis- sion of promoting fresh extra virgin olive oils. Enzo Olive Oil Company is also sanctioned by the United States Department of Agri- culture and certified by Cal- ifornia Certified Organic Farmers as well as Kosher Supervision of America. With its nationally and internationally ac- claimed, award-winning line of varietals and infused Enzo organic extra virgin olive oil and premium P-R Farms, Inc. California al- monds, one could easily agree that Founders Vincenzo and Pat Ricchiuti would be most pleased to see the direction and progress that Ricchiuti Family Farms has realized since its inception back in 1914.
