A f te rm a rke t D a i l y N e ws 4 7 W e d n e s d a y, N o ve m b e r 5 , 2 0 1 4 NEW MIMAKI CJV300 SERIES CUT-AND-PRINT WITH SILVER INK By Ken VanHorn, Director, Marketing and Business Development, Mimaki USA The new MimakiCJV300 Series pairs eco-solvent print technology with on- board automated cutting capability. With one of these models – available in 54-inch and 64-inch widths – you can produce full vehicle wraps as well as custom markings. Among the 10 eco-solvent ink colors available for the CJV300 printer is silver, which can be used to create high value- added print products. This new formula- tion is 150 percent brighter than previous inks, delivering brilliant mirror-effect results that are not diminished even when overlaminated. Silver ink can be used to create metallic color effects, which are in high demand for vehicle markings. RasterLink6 RIP software – standard with CJV300 Series units – includes a swatch palette of 648 metallic colors that are easily selectable from Illustrator ® and can be utilized in a near endless combi- nation of custom colors. White ink is also available for print- ing onto non-white media, including transparent film for window clings. Or use white as a base on colored media to create custom helmet or motorcycle gas tank graphics. Orange ink increases the color gamut and delivers more vivid output and the ability to reproduce more than 94 percent of the Pantone ® color chart. Matching tricky corporate colors just got easier. The unit features advanced cutting functions that enable you to cut an entire roll of media without interruption, free- ing you to do other things while creating custom graphics. It includes features that reduce media waste and facilitate preci- sion cutting over long-length prints, even if the image is distorted. Also included is a cut-and-print function for pre-cutting before printing, which prevents common problems such as film separation and other issues related to post-cutting on thin materials. We also offer the CJV150 Series that includes all the same features and func- tions, designed for lighter production environments where high throughput isn't required. With one unit, you can produce a full range of graphics to customize your ride. WEATHERTECH'S RECENTLY UNVEILED REVOLUTIONARY ADDITIONS WeatherTech ® , located in Bolingbrook, Ill., is known for its line of high quality, American made automotive accessories. Most widely known for its revolutionary line of custom-fit FloorLiners™, WeatherTech also manufactures custom- fit No-Drill MudFlaps, All-Weather Floor Mats, Cargo Liners and more. WeatherTech has steadily added a variety of additional automotive accessories to its line of products to provide the total package for automotive care. Some revo- lutionary additions that WeatherTech has recently unveiled include TechLiner ® , UnderLiner ® and BumpStep ® . With its success in providing prod- ucts that protect a vehicle's interior floor- ing, WeatherTech noticed the need for a custom-fit solution for protecting truck beds. WeatherTech's digital measuring processes led to the development of TechLiner that armors a truck's bed against scratches, dents and paint damage by seamlessly lining the truck bed and tailgate with a custom-fit design. The liner's "soft touch" material helps pre- vent cargo from shifting, yet provides ease to loading/unloading. Made from a 100 percent recyclable and odorless ther- moplastic elastomer, it remains flexible in all temperature extremes. Custom-fit for each application, the liner securely fits the exact contours of the truck bed with the use of Velcro ® discs. For those that prefer a more heavy-duty option for their truck beds with the use of rigid drop-in liners, WeatherTech has also developed a solution for protection against paint rubbing off from the rigid surface. UnderLiner is digitally designed to perfectly match the contours of the spe- cific pickup truck bed. The UnderLiner provides added protection by creating a .065" thick semi-soft protective barrier between the rigid drop-in bed liner and the painted surface of the truck bed. Damage to the bumper of vehicles is one of the most common accidents; natu- rally WeatherTech noticed the need for a higher quality solution to this problem. BumpStep fits any vehicle with a stan- dard 2" receiver hitch and is available as an Aluminum Billet model or injection molded from a proprietary resin. It is the ultimate protection against bumps, dents and scratches to a vehicle's bumper. BumpStep protects vehicles from other motorist's mistakes and small accidents from backing up. As the "step" portion of its name describes, BumpStep also allows users to safely stand on the step (up to a 300 lb max) for every day tasks such as loading a roof rack, racking a bike or kayak or washing the upper area of a vehicle. WeatherTech strives to provide con- sumers with high quality products, while staying at the top of technology advance- ments in manufacturing. These products mentioned in this article, plus more can be seen at the WeatherTech booth at the SEMA show, booth # 31135. FARO SCANS MARKET AND COMES OUT ON TOP WITH NEW EDGE SCANARM HD PORTABLE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FARO Technologies Inc. has long held a leading position in the portable 3D meas- urement systems industry, and now the company has created an entirely new level of sophistication and performance detail with the FARO Edge ScanArm HD. Already accustomed to the confi- dence provided by previous FARO sys- tems, users of the new device tandem can approach scan tasks knowing that every variable is accounted for with cutting edge, proven technology, provided at an affordable price. No matter the surface material, and regardless of contrast, reflectivity or part complexity; whether contact or non-con- tact, the FARO Edge ScanArm HD pro- vides enhanced resolution with High Definition data, rapid scanning speed with a wider scan stripe and faster frame speed, and offers a FARO Laser Line Probe attachment equipped with noise reduction technology to give virtually perfect accuracy. The FARO Edge ScanArm HD is the ideal tool for product development, inspection and quality control and offers capabilities such as point cloud compari- son with CAD, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering and 3D modeling. While teaming with the ScanArm HD to provide versatility and the ultimate in scan efficiency, the FARO Edge pro- vides true stand-alone measurement capability that is free of reliance on addi- tional, and remote components (like a laptop!). With its built-in touchscreen and on-board operating system, the Edge provides users the freedom to scan when- ever and wherever the next task demands. All that remains is to choose the appropriate one of the ScanArm HD's interchangeable probes, depending on the surface or material being measured. By the numbers, and when used with the FARO Laser Line Probe attachment, the Edge ScanArm HD provides a frame rate approximately four times that of its widely popular predecessor, and grabs almost twice as many points per line. In addition to other advancements, FARO's use of a blue laser, rather than red, means a shorter wavelength and higher defini- tion data scans. Combining the system's increased frame speed, enhanced scan line and greater maximum scanning width, users can acquire an unheard of 560,000 points per second. "The Laser Line Probe HD was developed to set a new standard in 3D laser scanning tech- nology. We are strongly focused on the applica- tion needs of our cus- tomers, and we are confi- dent that we will exceed their expectations," stat- ed Kathleen J. Hall, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Americas at FARO. "The Edge ScanArm HD delivers high-definition data with superior speed and surface coverage at an affordable price, enabling our customers to reduce on-site measurement times, to scan very challenging materials, and to meaningful- ly improve their products and processes." While the system offers highly com- plex, unprecedented performance, new users need not be intimidated. The ScanArm HD's new crosshair feature, coupled with the existing LED Rangefinder functionality and the feed- back it provides, have allowed FARO to dramatically reduce the system's required training time. The arm's com- pact size and friendly user interface make it a versatile and intuitive tool. In combination with the all-in-one metrology software CAM2 Measure 10, FARO provides its customers with a unique solution for both contact and non- contact measurement and is perfectly suited for metrology challenges in a wide range of applications. With its superior technology, reliable products and affordable pricing, FARO serves approximately 15,000 customers world-wide, and has more than 30,000 installations in operation.
