A f te rm a rke t D a i l y N e ws 2 3 W e d n e s d a y, N o ve m b e r 5 , 2 0 1 4 ACDELCO SEMINAR AT ATRA EXPO FEATURES TEHCM PROGRAMMING TRAINING General Motors six-speed automatic transmissions are found in more than eight million cars, trucks and crossovers on the road today, and servicing aging units provides independent service cen- ters and transmission specialists with an attractive business opportunity. Those attending the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association's annual show – Oct. 30-Nov. 2 in Las Vegas – will get a chance to learn how to diagnose, replace or reprogram GM Original Equipment Transmission Electro Hydraulic Control Modules, the heart of GM six-speed automatic trans- missions. Called "GM's TEHCM – You Can Fix 'EM," the seminar is 2-3:15 p.m. Oct. 30 and will be led by expert GM trainers. It will address how to proper- ly diagnose and replace the TEHCM as needed, as well as how to use a J2534 interface tool and a TIS2Web subscrip- tion if all that's needed is a reflash. With these tools, there is no need to send customers to the dealer – and rev- enue out the door. GM six-speed automatic transmis- sions are lauded for their smooth shifting, fuel economy, operating life and overall performance attributes. But like any other automotive component, they will require service as they age. ACDelco introduced GM OE TEHCMs and reprogramming tools last fall at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX). ACDelco GM OE TECHMs cover these families of GM six-speed transmis- sions in 2007-current model year GM cars, trucks and crossovers: 6T30/40/45/50; 6T70/75; 6L45/50; 6L80 and 6L90. They integrate electronic and hydraulic components into a single mod- ule for optimal driveability and durabili- ty. ACDelco TECHMs also include the latest hardware, including a filter plate, solenoids and an upgraded frame. For a demonstration of the ACDelco GM OE TECHM, be sure to stop by the ACDelco booth #4608. "The ability to bring reprogram- ming in-house is a huge breakthrough for independent service centers and transmission shops," said Michelle Francisco, Product Specialist for Transmission and Transfer case assem- blies with GM Customer Care and Aftersales. ACDelco TECHMs feature these advantages over used and/or competitive products: all-new GM OE module for optimized fuel economy; ability to down- load the latest calibration software for smoother shifts and better customer satis- faction; and limited warranty of 12 months/12,000 miles on parts. TECHM replacements in GM six- speed transmissions require Dexron VI transmission oil and additional parts depending on the application, such as seal kits and valve body cover gaskets. Buy a GM Six-Speed Transmission, Get Two Days of TIS2Web Through Dec. 31, purchase a Genuine GM Parts six-speed transmission from a GM dealer and get a no-charge, two-day TIS2Web subscription. To participate, call GM PCC at 866- 453-4123. Provide the transmission part number, serial number and vehicle's vehi- cle identification number for a promo code to be used for the TIS2Web subscription. TIS2Web helps technicians access GM vehicle calibrations, Global Diagnostic System software and Tech2 diagnostic software updates that enable them to quickly and accurately diagnose GM vehicles. TIS2Web subscriptions for various diagnostic and service support packages are available on a daily, monthly and yearly basis. AUBURN GEAR FIRST TO OFFER AFTERMARKET ALTERNATIVE FOR POST-2010 CHRYSLER 9-114 ZF LIMITED-SLIP DIFFERENTIAL Auburn Gear Inc., a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of high performance differ- entials, introduced its new aftermarket, limited-slip differential replacement for vehicles with the Chrysler 9-'l4 ZF rear axle built after 2010. Auburn 's new after- market 9-'l4 differential is the first to market and is designed for easy installa- tion and higher performance than the original equipment. Until now, those wanting a limited- slip differential on certain Dodge, Jeep and RAM vehicles made after 2010 had to either specify it as an option in place of the standard Chrysler 9-'l4 ZF open dif- ferential or pay to have an OE 9-'l4 ZF limited-slip retrofit performed. Cost was often a barrier, and the OE-made posi- track was the only aftermarket option available. "Folks would call me and ask about retrofitting their trucks, but once I quoted them a price for the OE replacement, they'd often change their minds," Ron Hill, Sales Manager for Pyle Bros. of Baytown, Texas, said. ''We've always been impressed with both the quality and operational characteristics of Auburn 's differentials, and its new 9-'l4 gives me a lower-cost, higher performance alterna- tive for my customers." Auburn's new high-torque- bias limited-slip differential is engineered to surpass the abilities of the OE differential, making Auburn's new differential even more attractive to those who want to upgrade their drivetrains and their performance capabilities. Auburn's design provides superior bias torque to the high-traction wheel and is compatible with gear ratios of 2.71:1 and up. Aggressive off-road driving over difficult terrain can challenge some dif- ferentials to the breaking point. Auburn 's new 9-'l4 limited-slip differential is designed to stand up to significant pun- ishment and gives drivers smooth torque- sensing operation with correct bias ratios engineered to outperform other standard differentials. "I expect Auburn's new diff. to be stronger overall and to deliver better trac- tion, so we'll see less one-wheel wonders," Jeremy Ayers, President of J.T.'s Parts & Accessories of Cashmere, Wash., said. "Auburn 's products have the best warranty in the business, and the fact that its products are made in the U.S.A. is important to our customer base." Auburn Gear has been manufactur- ing its products in Auburn, Ind., since 1982. The company engineers a wide variety of performance-enhancing and high-performance aftermarket differen- tials and believes that being exclusively American Made is one of its unique advantages.
