P ro d u c e S h o w D a i l y 6 3 S u n d a y, O c to b e r 1 9 , 2 0 1 4 THE LITTLE POTATO COMPANY INTRODUCES GUSSET BAG WITH HANDLE The Little Potato Company Ltd., the largest grower of little creamer potatoes in North America, has introduced more convenient packaging for its 1.5-pound bags of proprietary red, yellow and blue potatoes. The new gusset bag – a first for potato packaging – comes with its own carrying handle, making it highly portable, easily storable and ultra con- venient. Each package is customized to the potato variety and details its distinc- tive origin story, appearance, flavor and texture. The look of the new packaging is also fresh, following the company's recent rebranding. "We have updated our brand and reinvigorated our entire product line to get people excited about potatoes again," said Angela Santiago, CEO of The Little Potato Company Ltd. "With our modern- ized branding, plus packaging innova- tions like the new stand-up form and stur- dy handle, our little potatoes are making a bigger impact than ever on store shelves." The new packaging follows on the heels of consumer research that revealed shoppers were confused about potato nutrition and wanted more clear and convenient packaging. Aside from the gusset for- mat and carrying handle, other new features of the revamped bags include a large view- ing window into the fresh product inside and a QR code that consumers can scan with their smartphones to connect to recipes on the company website. Quick product facts are also detailed on the packaging, including that little potatoes are nutritious, come pre-washed and require no peeling. "Consumer feedback to the packag- ing has been exceptional, and we've gained new customers and new listings in areas we were previously unable to tap into," said Santiago. "The new, more convenient packaging is one more reason our potatoes have peo- ple proclaiming the virtues of being small!" The Little Potato Company Ltd. is North America's leader in the breeding, grow- ing and marketing of proprietary little potatoes. Focusing exclusively on little potatoes since 1996, the company works with specialized growers to provide a quality and consistent supply of product year-round. Its entire product line – including its fresh creamer potatoes and value-added microwave and roasting kits – can be found throughout the United States and Canada.
