NATURALLY HEALTHY GOURMET NEWS n SEPTEMBER 2014 n www.gourmetnews.com N H 3 2 U Rae's Muffins: A Healthy, Fun Snack From watching her parents open and run a successful business at a young age, Raeleen Yoon was given an entrepreneurial seed. Whatever the source, in 2009 she discovered her mission. She and her son were diagnosed with a dairy allergy, and although she searched far and wide, she didn't find any- thing that really tickled their taste buds. With the help of two little ones, she set out to create delicious, nutritious food for those with food allergies. And so in 2013, RaeFoods was born. Her daughter's first grade classmates were some of the first willing guinea pigs to taste- test her veggie and flaxseed filled muffins. When they clamored for more even though they had been expecting cupcakes, she knew she had a hit. 4 Muffins are made with all-natural ingredi- ents and are dairy-, soy-, egg- and peanut-free. They are suitable for all ages. Young or old, Rae's Muffins bring out the kid in all of us. The muffins come in five different fla- vors. Each comes in a vibrantly colored striped box containing four muffins. Rae's mission was to make the food deli- cious and the packaging fun. "I wanted them to be unique, so I came up with personalities for each flavor." said Yoon. With names like Chocochamp, Coco-ono, Gorillanana, Greenosaurus and Mr. Rabbit, there is a variety for everyone: Chocochamp – for those who want super powers (choco- late, zucchini, flaxseeds); Mr. Rabbit – nib- ble on this and embrace your inner bunny (carrot, applesauce, flaxseeds); Gorillanana – one bite will make you go bananas! (ba- nanas, kale, flaxseeds); Coco-ono – befriend your taste buds (coconut, cauliflower, flaxseeds); Greenosaurus – for those who are feeling reptilian (kale, cauliflowers, pineap- ple, flaxseeds). The muffins can be kept in the refrigerator for two weeks and frozen for a year. They are vegan, certified kosher, and peanut- and soy-free. Each muffin is unique, moist and tasty. Moxie Inspires Greatness with MIG Soap Every small business starts with the founder's dream, but that's usually a metaphor for the inspiration that moves a person to action. But when MIG Soap CEO and Founder Jaime Cross says her company started with a dream, she means it literally. The dream occurred on October 5, 2010. "I had a dream one night and woke up and told my husband, 'I think I'm supposed to start a soap company,'" she said. "I saw my- self pouring oils, and I saw this whole process in my dream, and I saw the letters MIG come up out of the soap. Everything was so clear I knew there was substance there." The dream seemed a custom fit for Cross who has had a longstanding passion for herbalism and natural products. She'd been thinking over business ideas for a while, and the dream pointed her in a definite direction. Cross responded with a year of research and development reading every book and med- ical journal she could find on skin care, re- sulting in her brand of luxury skin care products which have been on the market for the past three years. Every product in the MIG line is multi- functional, and the collections are comprised of products for primary or complementary use – a boost for busy people without a lot of time, energy or space to pamper themselves and particularly valuable for business travel- ers who must either fit their entire skin care regimen into a one-quart plastic bag or trust an airline not to lose it en route. "You can buy one or two products and cover your en- tire regimen," Cross said. "What I want people to know about us is that we are a high performance, affordable luxury body care company, with each product formulated and packaged with our no- compromise ingredient list, and we handcraft everything in small batches. We are in the process of getting certified organic and Fair Trade. We currently source responsibly, so all of our products are from sustainable sources. We don't have the certification yet, but we are ethical in all of our sourcing." "For instance, our body butter moisture stick is poured into a convenient twist tube. Use it right before you exit the shower while your skin is still wet, pat dry, and you won't need lotion for the rest of the day," she con- tinued. "Our Sleep Balm is very effective for promoting relaxation. The calming scrub boost – launching at Expo East – is a combi- nation of colloidal oat, bentonite and a num- ber of other rich ingredients that you can add a few times a week to your favorite cleanser for an infused, soothing and exfoliating cleanse." At Natural Products Expo East, Cross is introducing her line of lux- ury soap and body butters, her men's grooming product line, her Apothecary collec- tion (which includes the Sleep Balm and the Breathe Vapor Balm) and new boost products. "The boosts are a great way for busy people to enhance their current skin care regimen with powerful antioxidants, soothing extracts and essential components for healthier looking skin without having to replace their favorite products," she said. Other MIG products will be launching over the next six months. For further information, stop by and visit with Jaime Cross in booth # 8614 at Natural Prod- ucts Expo East. After the show, you can email info@MIGSoap.com to reach her as well.
