This year is just flying by, and as we go to press with this issue, students are heading back to their classes after summer vacations and our editorial staff is already thinking about the upcoming holiday season and what we'll be writing about during 2015. You'll notice that this issue of Kitchenware News has a feature we're calling Gourmet Goodies, and that's something you'll see a lot more of over the next year, as we direct some of our editorial focus to the gourmet food products that many of you tell us are an important source of revenue for your stores. In this issue, we think you'll enjoy a story called "How to Win Generation Y 's Business," by Associate Editor Amber Gallegos, who interviewed Gen Y marketing guru Jason Dorsey, who provided some cost-f ree ideas for how you can turn the curiosity and culinary inexperience of your Millennial- generation customers into sales and win them as long-term customers. Our f ront page also features a story on merchandising the office lunch, designed to help you create that merchandise story for the estimated 1/3 of Americans who take their lunches to work every day and the many others who take their lunches to work on occasion. We'd also like to introduce you to Kathleen Collins, General Manager and Buyer for KITCHENS, a collection of six kitchenware stores scattered around the eastern United States who's demonstrating that it's still possible for a specialty kitchenware store to survive in a shopping mall dominated by department stores.
