Marianne LaCroix, who has served as Acting Executive Director for the MLMC for the past two years, will remain on in a supporting role. "The Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative is vital to promoting Maine's lobster industry to the world," said Maine Governor Paul R. LePage. "Matt has a track record of accomplishment in business growth and de- velopment, and we look forward to his efforts to lead the Maine lobster industry into a new era of marketing and profitability." The primary objective of the Maine Lobster Market- ing Collaborative is to increase awareness and de- mand for whole live Maine lobster as well as value-added Maine lobster products. The MLMC sup- ports that objective by promoting the core values of the Maine lobster industry, which is sustainable and deeply rooted in tradition. Jacobson brings to his new position over 20 years in sales, marketing and senior leadership positions, most notably in connection to business and economic development in Maine. From 2006 to 2011, Jacobson served as President and CEO of Maine & Company, a non-profit business consulting and development or- ganization. Under Jacobson's leadership, Maine & Company was able to attract companies to Maine that now employ over 5,000 people across the state. Be- tween 2008 and 2009, Jacobson also ran for Governor, co-hosted the Jacobson & Katz: Inside Maine Business television show and wrote a guest column for MaineBiz magazine. Tribeca Oven CEO Marc Essenfeld Named N.J. EY Entrepreneur of the Year Ernst and Young recently announced that Marc Essen- feld, CEO of Tribeca Oven, Inc., a high quality manu- facturer and marketer of artisan breads and rolls, received the EY Entrepreneur Of The Yearâ„¢ 2014 Award in the Retail and Consumer category in New Jersey. The award recognizes outstanding entrepre- neurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial per- formance and personal commitment to their busi- nesses and communities. Marc was selected by an independent panel of judges. "I want to thank EY for their leadership and support of this recognition program through their Strategic Growth Forum," said Essenfeld. "I am honored and humbled by this recognition and want to thank every- one in the Tribeca organization who truly helped to make this happen." Now in its 28th year, the EY Entrepreneur of the Year program has honored the inspirational leader- ship of such entrepreneurs as Howard Schultz of Starbucks Coffee Company, Pierre Omidyar of eBay, Inc. and Mindy Grossman of HSN. Recent U.S. na- tional winners include Reid Hoffman and Jeff Weiner of LinkedIn, Hamdi Ulukaya, founder of Chobani and 2013 winner Hamid Moghadam, CEO and Chairman of Prologis. As a New Jersey award winner, Essenfeld is now eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the Entrepreneur of the Year National Overall Award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 15. Loblaw Announces Appointment of Galen G. Weston as President The Board of Directors of Loblaw Companies Limited recently announced that Galen G. Weston, Executive Chairman, has also been appointed as President, ef- fective immediately. While serving as Executive Chairman Weston was responsible for setting the strategic direction of the company and in leading its board. In assuming the po- sition of President, Weston will also be responsible for the execution of the company's strategy, for the lead- ership of the management team and for the company's overall business performance. Weston has an extensive background in retail in Canada, as well as an intimate knowledge of the busi- ness and its talent. He has been the strategic architect of reshaping the grocery business, as well as trans- forming Loblaw into a diversified portfolio of comple- mentary businesses, including the creation of Choice Properties and the acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart. "I am excited about the future, and the opportunity to execute on the strategic vision we have built for the Company," said Weston. "I am confident that Loblaw will continue to advance its business both financially and operationally and be well positioned to create long-term sustainable value."
