GOURMET NEWS AUGUST 2014 SFF WRAP-UP 4 0 Sticky Fingers Bakeries Introduces Five Flavors at the Summer Fancy Food Show Sticky Fingers added three new flavors to its premium line, including Cherry/Choco- late Chip Scone, Glazed Maple Scone and Glazed Cinnamon Raisin Scone mixes. It also introduced two new flavors to its gluten-free line, a Choco- late Chip Gluten Free Scone and a Pumpkin Cranberry Gluten Free Scone mix. "We all were very ex- cited to introduce these new flavors during the show, and we felt all five new flavors were extremely well received," says Ted Vogelman, cofounder of Sticky Fingers Bakeries. There is no doubt the team at Sticky Fingers appreciates the beautiful simplicity of a scone, but every once in a while con- sumers yearn to kick it up a notch and maybe get a little fancy. On those days, the company's Glazed Cinnamon Raisin Scones and Glazed Maple Oat Scones are just the ticket. With the Glazed Cinnamon Raisin scone, raisins dot this cinnamon treat, and the sweet glaze hints that something a lit- tle special is in the air. If maybe maple is more your style, the company's Glazed Maple Scone boasts a sub- tle maple flavor and a per- fectly crumbly, texture. Making scone preparation simple for the consumer, the glaze mix comes right in the scone package. Simply add water and whisk. Brush the glaze on the tops of your freshly baked scones. Sticky Fingers also de- buted two new additions to its gluten-free lineup: Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Scones and Gluten Free Pumpkin Cran- berry Scones. The Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip scones are a not-too-sweet treat ideal for lunch boxes or an after school snack. Meanwhile, the Gluten-Free Pump- kin Cranberry Scones offer an edible re- minder of crisp October mornings. The subtle pumpkin taste and bright cranber- ries in these scones pair nicely with a cup of coffee or warm mug of tea. Bake a batch in anticipation of the autumn favorite season, and stash an extra package or two in your cupboard for a quick addition to brunch any time of year. Crispy Green Receives Non-GMO Project Verification Crispy Green has received official verifica- tion from the Non-GMO Project for its en- tire product line, an achievement that reinforces the commitment Crispy Green has made to provide consumers with the highest-quality, healthiest and safest food snacks for families. "Our single-ingredient products already are safe for our consumers on so many levels, and this designation from the Non- GMO Project is an additional layer of cred- ibility," says Angela Liu, President and Founder of Crispy Green. "Every product we make is not only simple in ingredients, but also made without genetically modi- fied ingredients … Having the Non-GMO Project Veri- fied seal as- s u r e s everyone of our voluntary c o m m i t m e n t to non-GMO products." This is great news for retailers. In a recent poll, retailers were asked to rank marketing claims that capture consumer attention. Non-GMO was second only to gluten-free, as this trend continues to gain momentum. For more information, visit www.crispy green.com.
