S o l a r Po we r D a i l y N e ws Th u r s d a y, J u l y 1 0 , 2 0 1 4 4 HEREUS PHOTOVOLTAICS SOL 9620 SERIES AND SOL 9621 SERIES By Dr. Weiming Zhang, Vice President of Technology; Heraeus Photovoltaics Business Unit During the Intersolar North America 2014, the Heraeus Photovoltaics Business Unit is featuring two new front- side metallization pastes for c-Si solar cells. The SOL9620 Series and SOL9621 Series are Heraeus' latest and the best pastes that enable cell manufacturers to further increase their c-Si cells' conver- sion efficiencies to an industry-leading level and beyond. The developments of these two products are for customers with slightly different LDE applications and process; both pastes provide superior cell efficiencies while lowering customers' cost per watt. When tested, customers confirmed efficiency improvements that ranged between 0.1 percent and 0.20 per- cent absolute on lightly doped emitter wafers, relative to the best commercially available front-side pastes. Even greater gains have been achieved on further fine tuning emitter structure such as ultra lightly doped emitter [85 – 100 ohm/sq.] wafers, relative to the best commercially available front-side pastes. Even greater gains have been achieved on further fine tuning emitter structure such as ultra lightly doped emitter [110 ohm/sq.] wafers combined with optimized screen design, where the paste unfolds its peak performance. The SOL9620 Series and SOL9621 Series of pastes are able to provide excellent contact on lightly doped emit- ters [LDE]. The SOL9620 Series is out- standing for ultra-lightly doped emitters [ULDE], with surface doping concen- trations down to 1xE20/cm3. The SOL9620 Series has demonstrated the highest performance during customer testing, particularly on mono-crys- talline wafers. Relative to the SOL9610 Series on monocrystalline wafers, the SOL9620 Series demonstrated an 80 percent reduction in contact resistance; approximately a 3mV increase in Voc; BAJA'S SOLAR SUPPORT SYSTEM – DESIGNED FROM A CARPORT BUT ENGINEERED FOR THE SUN Baja Construction, the leader in highly specialized and engineered solar support structures, has installed its Solar Support System™ at facilities generating in aggregate of 35MWs of power. Baja will custom design, engineer, supply and install Solar Support Systems to support PV and secondarily shade vehicles of all heights. PV is mounted directly to Baja's Solar Support System with a patent-pending connection that delivers minimal impact to the site, max- imum efficiencies for installation and the potential for additional revenue. For more information, email bob@baja carports.com, visit www.bajacarports.com or stop by booth #9444. Continued on Page 13 AN INDEPENDENT PUBLICATION NOT AFFILIATED WITH INTERSOLAR Lee M.
