SPDN: Tell our readers about your company. JP: Powers Steel & Wire, headquartered with our primary facility in Phoenix, Ariz., is celebrat- ing its 50th year in business in 2014. We fabricate and manufacture over 40,000 tons of steel products annual- ly, supplying those products to multiple environments across the United States. In addition to our solar com- ponents – Slide-in Super Purlin, Ground Mounts, Solar Carports – our many other steel products supply POWERS STEEL & WIRE CELEBRATES 50 YEARS IN BUSINESS In response to the increased amount of attention paid to operational assessment of PV power plants, Campbell Scientific has redesigned the popular SMP100 Solar Module Performance system. Originally designed for maximum power point measurements of non-inverter tied PV modules, the SMP100 now offers the instrumentation and methodology required for accurate measurement of PV module soiling, defined as the decrease in production as a result of the accumulation of contami- nants on the surface of the PV module. A literature review of the effects of soiling on module performance indicates that empirical soiling losses on the order of An interview with Dr. Javier de Oñate, Vice President Systems, Schneeberger AG. SPDN: Tell our readers about your company. What's your main line of business? JD: SCHNEEBERGER is a well-established provider of innovative and reliable linear motion products, from linear guideways – with and without integrated measur- ing systems – to high integrated motion systems. SPDN: What would you say makes your company unique? An interview with Warren Blossom, Manufacturing Director, B&H Machine Company. SPDN: What distinguishes your prod- ucts from the competition? WB: More than 80 percent of the pro- filers we sell are custom machines – we strive to meet the needs of the individual customer. Our systems are non-contact, low cost and modular, so they tend to weather the storm of obsolescence and allow smaller companies to benefit from this technology. SPDN: In the past year, what significant changes have The solar powered pumping sys- tems by Franklin Electric made its debut at Intersolar North America just last year. Growing quite steadi- ly in popularity, this solar-powered pumping system is as powerful as conventionally-powered pumps, and just as easy to install. For years, solar-powered pumps have been used as an option in remote locations, in applications with unreliable power and in special situations such as applications requiring extreme portability. However, their use has often been limited by low-flow pumping options that cannot generate enough water before they run out of daylight. The new SubDrive Continued on Page 13 By Mike Anderson, Sales Team Leader, Custom Rollforming Corporation Roll forming is a continuous forming operation in which a strip of sheet metal (typically coiled steel) is passed through sets of roller dies mounted on consecutive stands, each pass performing only an incremental part of the bend, until the desired profile cross-section is obtained. Roll forming is ideal for producing tight tolerance profiles with long lengths and in large quantities. Roll forming has advantages over other methods of metal forming by producing parts that are much lighter, Continued on Page 13 Continued on Page 13 INTRODUCING THE NEW SMP100 SCHNEEBERGER LEADS THE WAY WITH ITS LINEAR MOTION PRODUCTS FRANKLIN OFFERS POWERFUL NEW SOLAR-POWERED PUMPING SYSTEM B&H MACHINE COMPANY UNVEILING NEW SCANNER CAPITALIZING ON PRODUCTIVITY Continued on Page 8 Continued on Page 8 Continued on Page 8
