GENERAL NEWS 6 KITCHENWARE NEWS & HOUSEWARES REVIEW ■ JULY 2014 ■ www.kitchenwarenews.com BY LORRIE BAUMANN After just three months as the Marketing Manager at Full Circle Home, Michelle Hinsvark is bubbling over about her chance to be involved with an exciting new product line of oven-to-table bakeware that's a first entry in the category for the company, which is introducing CREO as a standalone brand. Full Circle Home has also been in the news recently for a Red Dot Award for the company's kitchen compost collector. The line is called CREO, which is Latin for "I create," and it includes a set of four nesting mixing bowls, 2- and 3-quart rectangular baking pans, a 9-inch pie pan and an 8.5-inch by 4.5-inch loaf pan. They're all made of Smartglass, a tempered borosilicate glass within a ceramic shell exterior, made with a unique manufacturing process that makes them both durable and beautiful in purple, green, red, blue and gray with a dark and a light shade for each color. Interiors of the pieces are white. The material is tested for high resistance to thermal shock CReo: Smartglass ovenware for Creative Cooks so that the pieces can go directly from freezer into the oven (at temperatures up to 450 degrees F) and then to the table. "It's pretty incredible stuff," Hinsvark says. "It's absolutely gorgeous, and you don't have to worry about it exploding in your oven." Full Circle Co-Founder Heather Kauffman is just as excited about the launch of the new line. "We have always been passionate about good food, cooking and sharing these experiences with f riends and family. Knowing how much a thoughtfully designed tool can really impact a cook's life, we set out to create a brand and line of products that inspire a richer experience in the kitchen. Cooking is as much about the process as it is the gratification of serving and digging in to a beautiful dish. We hope our products encourage the at- home cook to experiment more, indulge more and just have a little more fun in the kitchen," she said. The mixing bowls were inspired by vintage glass bakeware with spout and handle for a nostalgic appeal that's still completely modern. "It's very functional. Why did we go away from these things? It reminds me of Grandma's kitchen, yet it's something I want to have now," Hinsvark says. The mixing bowls are available in a set of four that retails for $69.99. The 2-quart baking dish retails for $29.99, the 3-quart dish retails for $34.99. The loaf pan and pie pan both retail for $19.99 each. The line will be released in stores in the third quarter of this year. The Fresh Air Odor Free Compost Collector from Full Circle Home was given the Product Design 2014 Red Dot: Best of the Best for highest quality and groundbreaking design. A panel comprised of 40 design experts reviewed and tested more than 1,186 applications from manufacturers, designers and architects from 53 nations; making the Red Dot one of the biggest and most prestigious design awards worldwide. "Only the best products were bestowed with the sought-after award for design excellence," according to Red Dot. "Winning the Red Dot Design Award is a huge honor and we couldn't be more proud to be recognized by such a prestigious award, Full Circle Home Wins Red Dot for Fresh Air odor Free Compost Collector and in the company of some of the most innovative products in the world. We created the Fresh Air Compost Collector to make composting cleaner, easier and less intimidating with the hope more people will incorporate composting into their lives. We thank the Red Dot jurors as their recognition will only help us further that mission," said Full Circle Home Co-Founder Heather Kauffman. Unlike sealed compost containers, the Fresh Air allows oxygen to easily flow through the organic kitchen waste deposited inside it, allowing for aerobic breakdown. This means that food decomposes more slowly and stays drier during the composting process. The result? Less mess, less odor and no flies. The Fresh Air Compost Collector retails for $29.99.
