Oneida Extends Range of Dinnerware in all Categories BY LORRIE BAUMANN CTW Home Collection has a whole line of home decor products guaranteed to appeal to canning jar enthusiasts. The line will be seen at the Las Vegas Home & Gift Market for the first time this year, but CTW is a familiar vendor at other market shows around the country. CTW has been making products based on the iconic Mason jar since long before the item sparked the imagination of the Millennial generation, according to Charlie Lederer, CTW Home Collection Vice President. "I've worked here for 31 years, and we've been selling wholesale since 1987. The first item was the Mason Jar Lamp, which screwed onto the top of a standard Mason Jar and had a lamp socket on it, and you had a country-looking lamp," he says. "Once we started bringing some things in from overseas, the very first item we sent over there to be reproduced was an old blue Mason Jar. We've been having blue Mason Jars reproduced in India for the past 14 years." Lederer says he has no idea what accounts for the canning jar's sudden popularity, but Pinterest fans have documented their use as lanterns, candle holders, spice shakers, toothpick holders as well as drinking glasses, food storage containers and much more. At CTW Home Collection, Lederer and his colleagues are also continually searching for inspiration about the many uses of the Mason Mason Jar Decor from CTW Home Collection Jar, he said. "Any time we can think of an item that will work with a Mason jar – we just like doing Mason jars," he says. "We're getting ready to introduce new items for summer, and expect to include half a dozen new items based on Mason jars. We're glad everybody caught up to us." The CTW Collection that will be debuting in Las Vegas this summer includes Mason jar salt and pepper shakers and a caddy for them whose design came from an old wooden crate in which the jars' manufacturer once shipped them from the factory. He bought it from Ebay, Lederer says. "We just took the graphics off that and changed it up a bit to go on our salt and pepper caddy." The salt and pepper shakers for the set are hand-blown in India as is a set of Christmas ornaments based on the Mason jar design. Outside of the salt and pepper shakers, the Mason jar items sold by CTW Home Collection are not intended for use with food. "These are strictly decor items. The lids that we use are not food-safe. They do accept standard Mason jar lids," Lederer says. Another Mason jar item produced by the company that has been very popular with consumers is the solar lid light – a solar light that screws right onto the threads of a standard Mason jar. Consumers are using them in their gardens, and they're even being used as wedding decor items. The solar lid light is in it fourth year of production f rom CTW Home Collection, and sales have been brisk, Lederer says. "It's been great; it's been fantastic." "Mason jar pendant lamps are another good category. There are 10 models that use Mason jars as chimneys," he says. "We've even got a couple of Mason jar bird feeders." CTW Home Collection sells wholesale- only to retailers, and orders are shipped in three to four days. Retailers are invited to register at http://ctwhomecollection.com to shop online. Consumers can also browse the collection and find the location of a nearby retailer on the website.
