Oser One of the many pleasures of this issue of Kitchenware News & Housewares Review is that it includes more than the usual number of kitchenware retailers who are our wonderful readers. We hope that you will enjoy reading along with the folks at Sign of the Bear, Granada Gourmet, Las Cosas Kitchen Shoppe, and The Happy Cook who were gracious enough to share their experience about what works in the real world where we're all cooking and eating and selling and trying to figure out how to do it all better. Also in this issue, you'll read the good news that the folks at Charles Viancin think they've worked out the kinks that delayed shipments to some of you during the past year. You get to learn more about the people behind Opinel cutlery, and you'll read how the president of Japan Tiger USA plans to make this a breakout year for his company in the American marketplace. You'll read how IMUSA's Global Kitchen line responds to the increasing globalization of our eating habits as Americans travel around the world and then return home to seek out the authentic flavors that they enjoyed during their travels and as new immigrants bring their tastes of home into the country with them. And on the f ront-cover, you'll get some expert insight on new housewares products that might get a huge boost in the market because they appeal to both the Millennial and Baby Boomer generations. Inside, you will also find an update on some of the products on display at the New York Tabletop Show this year and a preview of some of what you can expect to see as you travel to summer gift and home shows. As we saw this year at the International Home + Housewares Show, an improving economy has encouraged a lot of creativity and the optimism in the marketplace that creates the fertile ground in which creative ideas bloom into new products designed to beautify our homes and make our lives easier, healthier or more pleasurable. But before the summer gift shows, we here at Oser Communications Group, the parent company for Kitchenware News & Housewares Review are heading back to Chicago to attend the National Restaurant Association's annual trade show, which provides a splendid showcase for culinary trends, celebrity chefs' showmanship and demonstration techniques. It's a place where we have the chance to immerse ourselves in the discussions that also color the television cooking programs and talk shows that bring so many home cooks into kitchenware stores to look for the equipment they'll need to follow along behind their televised role models. Also, there will be cutlery to try out and dinnerware to admire and amazing samples of delicious food to taste. And around all that, we're making some time to visit a kitchenware store or two. You can expect to read about many of these adventures over the next couple of months in Kitchenware News & Housewares Review. But for now, sit back, relax and enjoy the issue you're holding in your hands – or reading on your screens! Lee M.
