Bro a d c a s te r s S h o w D a i l y Tu e s d a y, A p ri l 8 , 2 0 1 4 4 FX DESIGN GROUP UNVEILS NEW DESIGNS WITH LIGHTING FX Design Group and sister company Giant Octopus are market leaders in set design, environments, lighting and motion graphics. The company was established 27 years ago in Florida, and has flourished with innovative designs, collaborative consulting and industry leadership in broadcast, sport, news, weather and branding. They are the studio lighting pros, and if you stop by booth #C7934 at NAB, you can see first hand the advancements of integration of both LED video and LED studio lighting technologies into broadcast facilities. FX Design Group stays ahead of the curve when it comes to implementing new technologies while at the same time, determining the best prac- tices for each application and ensuring that partners are capable of integrating these new systems. Unique Environments Its very latest sets include some amazing lighting that truly showcase the set, the talent and the versatility. FX's use of low-profile RGB LED strips has given the design team the ability to create unique and dynamic environments while decreasing the depth of its internally lit scenic elements. They allow control over millions of color options from the studio lighting console. Some versions of this LED strip light even have individually controlled pixels, that when patched into a media server can respond as a low-res- olution video image and allows graphical content such as gradients over a distance and eye-catching motion effects to be created with ease. Durantran Replacement Video as scenery is now in higher demand throughout the television and entertainment world, and FX Design Group is leading the charge with a vari- ety of LED video display options, includ- ing lower-cost LED video curtains as well as high-end LED video displays. The LED video curtains are driven by easy-to-use media servers from a single Windows-based computer, and are capa- ble of playing nearly any video file type imaginable. They come in many different resolutions and are quickly replacing static duratrans. The higher-end LED video displays can be used individually or as arrays. They will run on a variety of systems allowing for single-unit control as well as multiplexing several video sources across a single screen. Kick-A** Colors LEDs have also worked their way into standard studio fixtures such as Fresnels, Ellipsodials and Soft Lights. Color-bal- anced LED Lamps perfectly mimic the results of conventional light fixtures when housed in those same fix- tures, but use sig- nificantly less power, do not require expensive dimmers and speak directly with the lighting con- sole. Being LED also means rarely (if ever) having to replace the lamps and possibly corrupt a fixture's focus. With single source color mixing, it is now pos- sible to replace multiple fixtures with one LED fixture capable of producing mil- lions of high CRI colors. Check out the LED Curtain in action! Set Expertise FX knows that you want to showcase your talent in every way with the utmost versatility. It understands that you need the best backgrounds possible for live video, breaking news, weather and traffic cameras in your newscasts throughout the day. FX also knows that whether you have a small studio or a huge space, you want to make the best use of every single foot. Don't leave NAB without seeing the innovative design work from FX Design Group, the next trend in lighting and the best in motion graphics. CINEO LIGHTING PARTNERS WITH LEADING COMPANIES By Richard Pierceall, CEO, Cineo Lighting Cineo Lighting utilizes Remote Phosphor Technology (RPT) to achieve previously impossible light characteristics and color quality in products developed specifical- ly for film, television and photography. Cineo partners with leading phosphor technology companies to develop inter- changeable, high-CRI formulations that deliver unprecedentedly high color ren- dering. RPT allows light to emit directly from the phosphor panels on the front of the fixture, providing a lighting character- istic that radiates equally in a 160-degree radius. Available in all standard color tem- peratures, as well as specialized blue and green screen formulations. Cineo's flagship TruColor HS™ and LS™ deliver an unprecedented volume of soft light optimized for image capture and applications that demand accurate color rendering. TruColor HS exceeds the output of a traditional 3K soft light; the TruColor LS is brighter than a 1K source. New for NAB: both TruColor HS and LS now smoothly dim from 0-100 percent with no flicker at any level. Cineo is introducing several new fix- tures at NAB 2014, expanding the advan- tages of remote phosphor into new tools that solve even more lighting challenges. Cineo Maverick™ is the long-await- ed portable soft light from Cineo. This evolutionary fixture provides all of the benefits of RPT found in TruColor HS and LS while better meeting the demands of field use: lightweight, DC powered and weatherproof. Cineo Maverick delivers a vol- ume of light equal to a traditional 1K soft source, optimized for image capture as well as other applications that demand accurate color rendering. The newly re-designed Foton2™ fixtures are small, PAR-style fixtures with 2000 lumen output, now available in both Tungsten and Daylight balanced color. Foton2 is available in two config- urations: Portable and Studio. The portable fixtures operate on both DC and AC power with local dimming. The studio fixtures are designed for AC operation with DMX control. All units feature a typical CRI of 95, 20-degree to 60-degree beam angle, no flicker and no noise. Cineo Lighting and LiteGear™ have teamed up to develop the Matchstix™, a series of small, versatile Remote Phosphor light sources. Matchstix are optimized for flawless, flick- er-free control with a LiteGear Litedimmer. Only 35mm wide, Matchstix are available in 75, 150 and 300mm lengths. Matchstix are surprisingly bright for their size, can be daisy-chained and include a standard cold-shoe slot for lim- itless mounting options virtually any- where. Matchstix color quality perfectly matches all other TruColor fixtures. Beautifully designed, ruggedly built, outstanding color quality. It's what you expect from Cineo.
