Bro a d c a s te r s S h o w D a i l y Tu e s d a y, A p ri l 8 , 2 0 1 4 1 8 ORION IMAGES INTRODUCES NEW 3G SDI MONITORS FOR 2014 An interview with Terry Hongo, Product Manager, Orion Images Corporation. BSD: Tell our readers about your compa- ny. What's your main line of business? TH: Orion Images Corporation special- izes in designing, developing and manu- facturing 24/7/365 LCD commercial dis- plays targeting a diverse range of market segments. Offering world class value, reliability and innovative technology in a wide range of screen sizes from 2.5 inch- es up to 82 inches, OIC can provide your business with the products necessary to stand apart in today's market. Our highly specialized team is uniquely skilled in customizing monitors offering extensive expertise in consulting, design and build, custom development and support to fit into a variety of applications. BSD: What would you say makes your company unique? TH: With over 10 years of LCD monitor manufacturing expertise in both standard and custom display products, Orion Images has the ability to provide high quality display solutions to virtually any market segment. Our products are designed for commercial usage, meaning 24/7/365 operation while offering a full three year warranty. Combined with our extensive product offerings of display solutions for the Security, AV, Broadcast and Digital Signage segments, our sales staff is highly experienced and can help customers design in the best products for the application while minimizing cost. BSD: Are you introducing any new prod- ucts? TH: In 2014, we will be launching our new 3G SDI monitors, which includes a quad rack mount monitor. With four inputs, all four video sources can be viewed on the same monitor. We will also be launching our new video wall moni- tors. Our RNK monitor series has sizes ranging from 42 inches all the way up to our new 82 inch. The RNK series has built-in image processors that allow video walls to be created simply by daisy chaining the monitors together. Displaying a single image across a wall can be done without additional hardware or software, which is highly cost effec- tive. Video walls up to 10 by 10 [100 monitors] can be created. BSD: What products do you see as being hottest this year? TH: We have seen tremendous growth with our video wall products. Video walls are becoming more and more popular across all market segments. The need to display vast amounts of HD content on large viewing areas is becoming more common. Our RNK video wall monitor series has an option for a super narrow bezel [5.5mm edge to edge] and can be daisy chained together to form a wall as large as 10 by 10. Images can be displayed across the entire wall without additional hard- ware or software, which is a real advantage for the customer. We also have a multiviewer video processor that allows up to 16 separate video sources to be display simultaneously on a video wall or large monitor. BSD: What are some examples of your product applications? TH: Our largest project to date was a massive 72 monitor wall for a command and control center on the east coast. We have also installed a 16 monitor video walls into a car dealership for product advertising, casino's for their security control centers, state mass transit author- ities for monitoring local traffic flow, auditoriums of local state agencies for council meetings and retail chain head- quarters for nationwide store monitoring, just to name a few. BSD: How can our readers find out more about your company? TH: They can visit our website at www.orionimages.com, where we have information and specifications on all of our products. They can also contact us directly by phone at 714-766-6300 or by email at sales@orionimages.com where one of our experienced sales staff can assist with product information, applica- tion and technical assistance. CAPTURE UP TO 1,000 FPS WITH THE NEW PHANTOM FLEX4K High-speed camera manufacturer Vision Research is featuring the new Phantom Flex4K at this year's NAB. The latest member of its award-winning cinema product line is capable of recording up to 1,000 frames per second (fps) at 4K res- olution, and up to 2,000 fps at 2K. The camera offers exceptional image quality, new workflow options, a full-featured camera control interface and improved performance at standard frame rates. The Phantom Flex4K supports sever- al in-camera workflow options to address different production styles. Both raw and video workflows are currently supported, with the plan for in-camera compression coming soon. The camera's multi-channel 3G-SDI video system includes a dual-link 4K video output and supports simultane- ous live and replay – making it an option for sports broadcast applications. Raw files are saved to the hot-swappable Phantom CineMag IV and can be quickly downloaded via the CineStation IV over Gb or 10Gb Ethernet. Both Windows and Mac download software is included with each camera. Sync-sound frame rates and time code is fully supported. For high-speed capture, it's possible to record up to 940 fps at full resolution of 4096 x 2304, 1,000 fps at 4096 x 2160, up to 2,000 fps when windowed down to 1920 x 1080, and over 3,000 fps at 1280 x 720. The full-featured on-camera control interface eliminates the need for software connection on set. All capture, playback and save parameters can be set from the built-in menu on the right side of the camera body, shortcuts are available for popular functions and multiple user presets exist to allow for a quick setup. Monitoring, playback and save controls are also avail- able from the left side of the camera. Accessory power outputs and optional battery packs exist to make this camera a completely self-contained unit that can be used as easily remotely and un-teth- ered as it can in the studio. A prototype Flex4K was first pre- viewed at NAB 2013, where Vision Research took the opportunity to gather user input on its initial form. Work con- tinued throughout the year getting it ready for action, and an improved design was formally introduced later in the year. Shipments of the initial Flex4K system began in early 2014. Be sure to visit Vision Research at NEW SEALCASE FOR GALAXY S4 IS PERFECT FOR PARENTS For years, smartphone case manufactur- ers have promised that their underwater, IP68-certified cases keep phones dry and safe from the thrills and perils of hiking, whitewater rafting, scaling Kilimanjaro, or – you name it. Although Concord Keystone can make those same claims with its new SealCase™, its new cus- tomers are the weekday warriors – those brave souls known as parents. The com- pany just launched a new super slim, smart-looking case in the most desirable colors, which keeps the Galaxy ® S4 safe and dry from, well, children, and features all the convenience and ease that parents love. Sure, Mom and Dad could be loung- ing poolside in San Tropez with a desire to take their smartphone for a dip, but more than likely, the potentially wet and wild scenario has the smartphone in the hands of a fast-moving toddler with an eye toward the nearest toilet. When the phone is flung into the bowl, parents can be sure the SealCase will keep the Galaxy S4 bone dry with sturdy watertight latch- es, seals and port covers. If families do finally make it to a beach or pool, the SealCase is waterproof up to 6.6/2 meters below the surface so they can capture images or record family video. Installing the S4 in the case is easy and quick, so there's no need for a lengthy study of diagrams. The one- piece, clamshell design opens on a single hinge. Slide the phone in the case, and click to lock it. That's all there is to it. No separate parts to disappear down a drain or drop into the hands of curious tots. Once the phone is safely in the case, it's ready for talk, text, Internet, pictures or video. The SealCase also allows access to headphones, charging, and all ports and buttons. The unit comes with an adjustable neck strap so Mom or Dad can hang the phone around their neck so it's always nearby when they need to snap a picture, answer a call or text a friend for some comic relief. Also, when using the lan- yard, there is no need to circle back to the theme park or birthday party to locate a left-behind phone. While the SealCase protects from wet, sticky little fingers, it also comes with a cleaning cloth. MSRP is $69.99. For more information, go online to www.concordkeystone.com. booth #C9031 for a hands-on demo and learn all about what the Flex4K has to offer, including new accessories, workflow tools and stunning 4K content. Other Vision Research products will be featured, such as the handheld Phantom Miro LC320S, which is an extremely small, portable camera system that can capture up to 1,500 fps at 1080p. This camera takes standard cam- corder batteries and has a built in touch- screen LCD which acts as a viewfinder and allows for complete camera control. Also on display will be Vision Research's latest offerings for sports broadcast applications, which will include systems built around the Flex4K and the specialized Phantom v642 in order to achieve the ultimate in ultra slow motion replays.
