EXPERIENCE QUALITY PRINT TECHNOLOGY WITH MIMAKI By Paul McGovern, Marketing and Promotions Manager, Mimaki USA Mimaki USA will be demonstrating the latest in its latex print technology with various wrap applications in booth 12953 at this year's SEMA show. The newly enhanced 64-inch JV400LX will be running 3M™ Envision 480Cv3 graphic film and Mimaki's LUS-200 inks that feature a six-color set – CMYK plus orange and green – for a wider color gamut. Mimaki and its partner 3M offer one of the best warranties in the business. The 3M MCS™ Warranty offers a vehicle wrap life of five years when used along with the 3M 8528/8548G over-laminate film that is applied over the printed Envision 480Cv3 media and printed with Mimaki's new LUS-200 inks. Mimaki's eco-friendly LUS-200 latex inks make it a breeze for wrap installations, since prints can be laminat- ed immediately after printing. There is no need for "de-gassing" time delays like conventional solvent inks used today in most vehicle wrapping applications. Plus, the flexibility of the latex inks makes them easy to handle and conform around tough edges and corners of the most difficult wrap surface placements. In their SEMA booth this year, Mimaki is partnering with TK Wrap Designs, based in Mooresville, N.C., who will be demonstrating how they use the JV400LX in applying wraps to a sports car and helmets. Also available from Mimaki, but not demonstrated at the SEMA show this year, is the new high speed, 64- inch UJV500-160 UV printer that sets the benchmark in high production vehi- cle and fleet graphics printing. With a print speed of up to 645 square feet per hour and the latest LED UV curing technology, the UJV500 is a real win- ner in the high performance vehicle wrap marketplace. WINALIGN HD FROM HUNTER ENGINEERING REVOLUTIONIZES ALIGNMENT PROCESS FOR HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLES New technology from Hunter Engineering provides accurate, three- axle wheel alignment readings in just four minutes, improving on traditional 12 to 15 minute setup times in today's shops. "Speed is the most attractive feature of this system," says Dave Francis, Owner of D&D Wreck Rebuilders in St. Louis. "Because of our central location, we need to be prepared to handle every- thing. Speed and consistency is essential. Hunter's improved WinAlign HD Alignment System uses four or six rev- olutionary DSP700T heavy-duty align- ment sensors. DSP700T sensors use exclusive roll-forward compensation to compensate all sensors at once without the need to jack each axle. The new sys- tem decreases setup time and equipment wear through a completely reengineered setup process. Kelly Farrell, General Manager of Cross-Midwest Tire Co. in Bridgeton, Mo. says, "Before we had this system, our alignment technician devoted 100 percent of his time to alignments. Using Hunter's new system, we can assign our alignment technician to additional repair work to generate more profit. When we have an abnormally busy day, I am no longer worried." The new WinAlign HD Alignment software allows Hunter customers to align trailers without unhooking the power unit. The system can also align trailers without a power unit using an optional kingpin adaptor. New WinAlign HD Alignment Systems also feature new, copyrighted adjustment videos to guide technicians through the alignment proce- dure. Just-in-time videos help train new technicians and make sure each wheel alignment is completed properly. "After using Hunter's new system, I would never want to use another align- ment unit," says Ian Heidemann, Lead Technician at Cross-Midwest Tire Co. "The battery life on the sensors is great, and I am able to see my alignment results without jacking up each axle and moving around the sensors. AUDYSSEY DSX 2: A DYNAMIC SURROUND EXPANSION Audyssey DSX (Dynamic Surround eXpansion) adds heights and wides to 5.1 surround sound, providing a variety of configurations up to 11.2 channels. The technology is included in many home theater AVRs and has set the standard for up-mixing technology. Audyssey DSX 2 provides that experience starting with just a stereo signal. Audyssey DSX first hit CES four years ago and Audyssey showed the world how immersive everyone's living rooms could sound. Those extra height and wide channels provide a seamless playback environment that perfectly complements action, concert and 3-D viewing. No longer do viewers hear the position of their speakers as sounds pan around the room or as action attacks from all sides; all the holes are filled and the result is pure envelopment. It was a major step for surround sound. Now, Audyssey DSX 2 can start with a stereo signal, which opens the door to a completely new set of uses, the most obvious being inside of a car. Automobiles already pose a chal- lenging acoustic environment. And still, people listen to more music in the car than anywhere else. Almost everything you play in a car is stereo content, yet cars today often have more speakers than found in a home theater setup. Audyssey DSX 2 uses all of those speakers for a completely immersive audio experience. At home, nothing is more prevalent than the television and Audyssey DSX 2 can now take any of those stereo TV pro- grams to 5.1 and beyond for a true home theater experience. This has never been available in one technology and marks yet another innovative milestone for Audyssey—one that provides more con- venience and better sound for consumers.
