Rick Dancer, President and Owner of Skyline Solar Arizona, a division of Skyline Steel, Inc. dropped by to talk about why you can trust his company to build solar support structures to cover your parking areas. SPDN: Tell me about your company. RD: Skyline Solar has been around for more than three years. It's a division of Skyline Steel, which was found- ed in 1983 as a commercial covered parking company in the state of Arizona. In 1990, the company diversified into Division 5 Miscellaneous and Structural Steel Fabrication and Erection. Then in 2002, we used our experience as a covered parking company to springboard into the solar industry because, of course, mounting a solar installation on top of a covered parking facility is just a terrific opportuni- ty to increase the efficiency of the structure. We now have eleven years in the solar industry. Last year alone, we installed more than 23 megaWatts of solar support structures, which ranks us as one of the larger solar SKYLINE SOLAR: A ONE-STOP SHOP FOR SOLAR SUPPORT STRUCTURES FOR COVERED PARKING AREAS An interview with Thomas Dobler, International Sales Manager, GNB Corporation SPDN: We've seen GNB's slogan: "Vacuum Excellence Defined." What exactly do you mean by it? TD: For us, a passion for excellence is extremely impor- tant, and it is lived in all parts of the organization. For example, we require all of our sales staff to be engineers and be able to provide our customers with an excellent solution for their application. This passion for excel- lence further applies in our Engineering Department, where our team of experts design vacuum chambers and valves with state of the art CAD tools. The passion for excellence can be especially seen in the attention to detail on our production floor. Our high- ly trained team of machinists, ASME certified welders and other technicians will make sure that your product will exceed your high expectations. We are fully committed to quality systems to ensure that you will have an outstanding experience for each order. After getting ISO certified in 2008, we have An interview with Olivier Blachier, Vice President, World Business Line – Electronics Markets Group, Air Liquide. SPDN: Tell our readers about your com- pany. OB: Air Liquide is the world leader in gases for industry, health and environment and is present in 80 countries. Air Liquide provides high-purity fluid supply solutions to the photovoltaic industry, not only to the entire crystalline silicon value chain such as polysil- icon, Ingot, and solar cell manufacturers, but also to the thin film segments of the industry. SPDN: What do you offer? OB: Air Liquide offers integrated supply of high-purity nitrogen (N2), hydrogen (H2), and argon (Ar), as well as electronic specialty gases such as mono-silane (SiH4), ammonia (NH3), hydrogen selenide (H2Se), mono-ger- mane (GeH4) and others. It also innovates through its ALTAY™ advanced and innovative materials product line, which includes materials such as diethylzinc Making its debut at Intersolar North America this year is a new solar-powered pumping system that is as powerful as conven- tionally-powered pumps, and just as easy to install. For years, solar-powered pumps have been used as an option in remote locations, in applications with unreliable power, and in special situations such as applications requiring extreme portability. However, their use has often been limited by low flow pumping options that cannot generate enough water before they run out of daylight. The new SubDrive SolarPAK from Franklin Electric stands to change all that. Two things make Franklin's solar pumping sys- tem different from others already on the market: its simplicity and its output volume. Designed to use a standard submersible pump and motor combination, no special equipment or training is required. Installers of the SolarPAK can continue to do what they do best: function as pump experts rather than having to become experts at installing solar power sources. The system's solar-powered control unit comes An interview with Steve Schwerd, Partner & VP of Facilities & Energy Engineering SPDN: Tell our readers about your com- pany. SS: KMB Design Group is a full-service consulting engineering firm licensed in 49 states. Headquartered in New Jersey with branch offices in Massachusetts and Chicago, we provide pro- fessional services nationally. Our three divisions include telecommunications, design-build, and facilities and energy engineering. Our F&E division is especially strong in the area of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) engineering for buildings, in addition to solar engineering. SPDN: What would you say makes your company unique? SS: At KMB, we bring large company capability with a small-firm feel and rate structure. We have the resources to handle large scale projects throughout the country, and have engineered projects with fees Continued on Page 19 Campbell Scientific manufactures dataloggers, data acquisition sys- tems, and measurement and control products used worldwide in a wide variety of research and industry applications.
