P r o d u c e S h o w D a i l y 3 5 T h u r s d a y, M a y 1 6 , 2 0 1 3 belt splicing for all western region processors. Heinzen is featuring ThermoDrive® products on many start of the art conveyor designs for ultra high risk applications. New to the product line is the ThermoDrive belt with a synchro- nized sidewall that will be ideal for deli- cate products. We see the ThermoDrive product as being the most requested solu- tion for ultra high risk applications. The belt is 100 percent urethane, seamless, no hinges, no lacing and takes minimal chemicals to clean. PSD: What other services or products do you offer? RG: HMI is also the North American sales and service center for Dofra Manufacturing, providing complete onion peeling process lines, knife and abrasive potato peeling, all manufactured in the Netherlands. Sales of the OP-120 featuring a the patented magnetic peeling wheel have been very successful. The magnetic peeling wheel design has proven to be a huge leap forward when compared to the older OP-100 design, and the competition. Dofra has a com- plete line of equipment designed in Europe, tailored for the world market, the partnership has been very successful in bringing this equipment to the North American. Of special interest for the fresh cut industry would be the newly released MVC-4500 specialty onion slab slicer. PSD: Is there anything you would like readers to know? RG: To bring more value to HMI's sani- tary design services, we are partnered with Ampco pumps to provide a fully integrated and well thought out solution for process water pumping, piping and distribution. HMI is an authorized West Coast OEM serving the fresh cut pro- cessing market. What is great about our connection with Ampco pumps is our direct line to the factory. We can offer the best lead times and pricing. Ampco pumps are 100 percent stainless with san- itary end fittings. We provide the com- plete pump coupled to a Baldor stainless premium efficient motor, with threadless pump bases. We also offer complete process piping systems that are 100 per- cent stainless steel seamless tubing out- fitted with our new 100 percent variable locking metering valve with tamperproof lock out capabilities. Heinzen Manufacturing (Cont'd. from p. 1) features or attributes they were just not able to get from existing suppliers. Or they were experiencing breakage they just couldn't get control of, and they needed a way tougher tote. Our cus- tomers and partners helped us to craft our ideas into what they really wanted. I think this is a great way to give grow- ers, packers and shippers what they really need. PSD: I understand you have something new to introduce at the show? JEJ: Yes, we are proud to introduce our innovative new RPC the FreshFold, geared specifically to salad. RPC's have a great role to play improving quality and logistics in moving salad from the field to distant packing and repacking facilities. We have focussed on optimiz- ing our product just for salad, but it is also compatible with more generic RPCs used in salad and other commodi- ties. PSD: What new benefits does your RPC offer? JEJ: Improving the volume utilization for outbound shipping by a few percent and getting 660 more empty RPC's back on the trailer will save packers and shippers a lot of money. Focusing on salad means we can offer more to salad companies. We can also offer proven metal detectable high-impact material, and with color options. Because we are not trying to be a one size fits all, we can simplify the geometry to make the RPC more resistant to damage. Its smooth, inside and out, and has way fewer vertical and horizontal ribs that catch on machinery and hold onto dirt. Our latch is a real pleasure to use. PSD: You sound pretty enthusiastic about it. JEJ: Well, when we followed this same focused strategy for harvest totes, our product was recognized for having raised the bar for totes by focusing closely on a smaller segment, doing one thing really well rather than trying to make one container that can do 25 dif- ferent things sort of OK. PSD: I understand your RPC's latches are a little different? JEJ: These are Delrin, and they are a great material for this function. They provide a gentle smooth way to open and close the container, and they are designed to be particularly finger friendly. They are also particularly intu- itive to open and close. There are no surprises, and they are very tough. PSD: How does this fit with your exist- ing containers geared towards salad? JEJ: The FreshTote (20 inches by 24 inches) is simply the best, toughest, fastest harvest tote available and that's great for local operations under a few hundred miles. The AquaTote is an ultra rapid draining and tough 16-inch by 24- inch tote that was customized for a labor saving approach where the salad is harvested into the tote and then is washed and dried and stays in the tote throughout. FTNON and Heinzen make equipment to do this. The FreshFold will complement this by saving money when shipping salad over long dis- tances. Intercrate (Cont'd. from p. 1) ice is our company's primary goal. Through these years, we have spent countless hours researching and imple- menting better ways of providing exclusive money transfer, currency exchange, freight payment voucher and Mexico truck liabili- ty insurance services. In comparison to a bank money trans- fer to Mexico, we have specialized this process so that our clients' money transfers arrive to their vendor(s) usually within an hour of receiving clients' money transfer in our U.S.A. accounts. Transactions are always protected by a $1 million bond, eliminating any risk to our client's money and allowing client's access to our online database to confirm with their vendors receipt of these monies. We provide produce clients with freight payment services, in which produce clients utilize TME vouchers for payments to Mexico trucking companies delivering shipments to U.S. receiving warehouses. These vouchers are then cashed by Mexico Texas Money Exchange (Cont'd. from p. 1) trucking companies at any of our 13 branches and the 24-hour branch is also available for those late or weekend ship- ments. Mexico freight companies needing to spend additional time in U.S.A. can obtain required liability insurance at any of our 13 branches. This is very important when client's produce arrives late in the evening or weekend. Our goal is to provide produce indus- try with personalized financial services that will increase their profits and valuable pay- ment relationship with their vendors. With TME all your business transactions are covered by a one million dollar bond and excellent audits by Texas Department of Banking, IRS, CPA Audited Financials and Independent Compliance Consultants. I invite everyone to visit us at booth 1001 where we will also be present you with a special gift just for visiting. It is just such a technological threshold that the fresh produce industry is now poised to cross. The days of the tempera- ture recorder are through. No longer beholden to the "pack and pray" mentality, new innovations like the SmartTraxx sys- tem from Locus Traxx offer a unique form of reassurance to the supply chainreal-time, continuous communication. This change has not happened overnight. Much like the cellphone, the SmartTraxx system has had time to develop, replacing the unwieldy, blocky prototypical form with something sleek, high-tech, and most importantly, functional. Improvements in design and technology have lowered costs, and turned the SmartTraxx unit into the only option to reliably monitor your perishable shipments in transit. Locus Traxx monitors more than 6,000 shipments per year from its state-of- the-art network operations center. If a prob- lem is detected, an alert is sent out, making the appropriate people aware of the issue, so corrective measures can be taken. The SmartTraxx system allows you to go about your day-to-day business with confidence, knowing that you don't have to wait for a load to be refused, to learn that something went wrong en route. Locus Traxx (Cont'd. from p. 1) Greenhouse Produce Company(GPC) and its family of growers operate more than 250 acres of greenhouse facilities in Mexico, ranging from high to medium-tech facilities, securing year-round supply from central and northern Mexico. As a grower-shipper, Greenhouse Produce Company is dedicated to continuously improving the efficiency of its operations for optimal resource manage- ment while growing produce with superior flavor, appearance and nutritional value. It takes a precise combination of technology, variety, climate and vigilance to achieve this goal. GPC's conventional greenhouse prod- uct line includes a variety of tomatoes, beef, on-the-vine grapes, colored bell peppers, and cucumbers. GPC promotes sustainable production by encouraging the preservation of natural resources where possible. From production to distribution, GPC and its growers make a special effort to use green materials to reduce waste and preserve natural resources. GPC's tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers are culti- vated in an eco-friendly growing medium called coco peat or lava rock. Using this inex- pensive, natural medium, instead of soil, the need for water and fertilizers is reduced through targeted plant absorption. The plant energy is spent growing and producing fruit, not fighting soil-related issues. In this way, no natural resources are wasted and less syn- thetic materials are used. GPC reaches out with the existing technology and give Mother Nature a hand to achieve the opti- mum production environment. For more information, visit www.green- houseproduce.net.
