F o o d E q u i p m e n t N e w s T h u r s d a y, F e b r u a r y 7 , 2 0 1 3 4 6 RENAU EXPANDS UCM-1000 FAMILY OF TOUCHSCREEN CONTROLS Renau Electronic Laboratories has expanded the highly acclaimed UCM- 1000 Series of TFT resistive touch- screen displays with a variety of differ- ent sizes to meet any commercial food- service equipment control application. Now available in a compact 3.5- inch (UCM-1035), standard 4.3-inch (UCM-1043) or jumbo-sized 7-inch (UCM-1070) display, the UCM-1000 Series offers equipment operators a sophisticated control that can be con- figured and installed either horizontal- ly or vertically on the front of a con- trolled appliance. Measuring less than 0.91-inch deep, the UCM-1000 Series is compact and versatile enough to allow equipment manufacturers to mount it on virtually any available panel space. Using Renau's Single Wire Communication Network, the UCM-1000 Series connects to any of Renau's compact, powerful hybrid micro process controllers to power even the most intensive and demand- ing applications. Equipment operators and customers see a sleek, vibrant color display that can easily be mount- ed anywhere on the appliance while keeping the process controller out of sight within the controlled equipment, reducing the need for expensive and complicated harnesses. With the ability to quickly and eas- ily access and select programs, as well as full support for Day Part Programming, training equipment operators to use the UCM-1000 Series is fast and simple. Equipment opera- tors can quickly and easily read the UCM-1000 Series' high-resolution color display from across the kitchen, and because the screen is the interface, use is incredibly intuitive and easy and designed to help reduce operator error and food waste. The UCM-1000 Series can even help guide a service techni- cian through troubleshooting and repair! Easily upgradeable and fully reprogrammable, the UCM-1000 Series allows recipe menus and system configurations to be quickly updated through the mediation of Renau's Universal Host Adaptor (UHA) and custom Windows-based software, which allows for the creation of cus- tom recipe menus, warning alarms, sound files and system configurations that can be stored on an authorized user's hard drive for future use and ref- erence, or for larger organizations, e- mailed to a remote colleague. When it comes time to update the system, sim- ply save the desired file onto a USB flash drive and reprogram the products with the use of a Renau UHA Series Adaptor. The UCM-1000 Series is also completely compatible with the Renau's new WHA Series of WiFi adapters. In order to perform in the most demanding foodservice industry envi- ronments, all Renau products are fully encapsulated for outstanding protec- tion from extreme temperatures, humidity and shock. Designed and manufactured in the United States, all Renau products are rigorously tested and come with an industry-leading three year warranty. US REFRIGERATION ADDS NEW ADVANTAGE AND VALUE SERIES US Refrigeration, a manufacturer of quality commercial refrigerators and freezers—uprights and worktop table products, is located in Beltsville, Md. with distribution centers throughout the United States of America. US Refrigeration's main objective is to manufacture quality refrigerators and freezers for the commercial refrigera- tion industry at a competitive price. US Refrigeration is resolute in bring- ing this new line of equipment into the North America at a competitive price, quality workmanship and with engi- neered reliability. Its experienced tech- nical staff is working very closely with the factory to assure the highest quali- ty and most durable composition dur- ing the manufacturing process. Nearly 10 years ago, US Refrigeration designed and developed the Traditional Series, a new product line of commercial refrigeration equip- ment with the customer in mind! Born from a refrigeration service repair company with extensive background in refrigeration, the company has engi- neered a solution to the expensive cost of maintenance and frequency of downtime with a newly manufactured commercial refrigerator, freezer and work top table products. This includes better gasket design to increase the life cycle of the door gaskets and more foam padding and stronger packaging to get the equip- ment to the customer without damage. This reduces the number of insurance claims and time spent with either wait- ing for the product to be replaced or dealing with the claim filing process. It also includes stainless steel interi- or and exteriors for the price of an alu- minum interior product, stainless steel drip pans compared to aluminum and galvanized steel pans extending the life of the drip pan, larger and stronger stainless steel door handles secured to a heavy gauge steel back plate located inside the refrigerator doors to assure they don't bend or break away, and under-the-counter work tables with rear and side vented condensing units to allow the air to circulate better. Now after almost 10 years of satis- fying our customers around the globe, we have done it again! US Refrigeration has added two more product lines of refrigeration equip- ment designed around quality and with a 20 percent lower price—The Advantage and Value Series! Now with the Traditional, Advantage and Value Series of refrigerators and freezers, US can offer many ways to save its cus- tomer 's money without sacrificing quality. All models are UL and NSF certified with many holding the Energy Star qualifications. US Refrigeration is seeking new dealers and distributors to represent this new line of equipment. ENDURA: INNOVATIVE GREASE MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS In 2001, the first Endura grease intercep- tor was sold in North America by Canplas. Using its core injection molding expertise and an extensive knowledge of plumbing and hydraulic design, the Endura Interceptor set new standards for durabili- ty, longevity and performance in the com- mercial kitchen environment, offering a game-changing alternative to traditional metal grease traps. Since then, Canplas' Endura Grease Management product line has expanded to include a wide range of products to meet the needs of every commercial kitchen. Ranging from seven gpm to 50gpm, the Endura Grease Interceptors have "shown remarkable resilience and sustained growth in a market that was significantly challenged in recent years," according to Andrew Bird, Business Development Manager for Plumbing Products at Canplas. The compact seven, 10 and 15gpm models were launched two years ago at NAFEM 2011, and successfully filled a demand for high efficiency, compact grease interceptors being used in tightly proportioned kitchen spaces. These small- er units draw on all of the proven elements of the Endura range, the EZ-Open cover latching system, the load rated and odor- tight cover, removable baffles and of course PDI and ASME performance approval. "The new compact interceptors use a development of our patented baffle system," said Bird "The effectiveness and capacity of smaller units is on occasion questioned [by] code officials and local jurisdictions. These new units however are just as efficient as their larger hydrome- chanical counterparts, the seven gpm model for instance achieving more than 95 percent efficiency during independent third party evaluation for ASME." In addition to the compact grease interceptors, the Endura Solids Interceptor has also shown tremendous growth following its launch in late 2011. "The management of solid material in a grease interceptor is equally important to that of the FOG (Fats, Oil and Grease) itself," Bird said. "We always look for ways to improve performance and the new Solids Interceptor certainly fits this bill. It is available as both a complete stand-alone solids interceptor that can be used in con- junction with any installation where solids accumulation is an issue, and secondly as an accessory can be retrofitted directly inside any of the full-height Endura mod- els by simply replacing the inlet baffle." To complete the line of grease manage- ment products and aid in ease of installa- tion and maintenance, Canplas offers accessories including sleeve and riser kits for in-floor installations and air admit- tance valves for greater installation flexi- bility. Spare parts are also available at www.endurapartsstore.com which gives fast access to just about any parts of the Endura interceptor anywhere in the United States within 24-48 hours. This is a unique service in this sector and ensures that if a challenge does occur it can be rectified quickly and effectively without impacting your foodservice operation. Canplas is part of the Aliaxis Group of companies, a worldwide manufacturer of plastic products for the building and con- struction industries. More information about the full line of Endura products is available at www.endurainterceptor.com. Be sure to add Canplas to your must-see list at NAFEM 2013 at booth #2052.
