B r o a d c a s t e r s S h o w D a i l y W e d n e s d a y, A p r i l 1 0 , 2 0 1 3 4 8 solution enabling users with greater flex- ibility to easily remove, transfer, and store large data files. BSD: What future technologies are you planning? MK: We are developing a new energy efficiency and compute platform that uti- lizes Hadoop Cluster. This solution will help reduce power consumption, increase performance, and lower operational costs. With expanding video formats, increased resolution, and capacity requirements, all current storage solutions will soon be obsolete. With Sky Solutions, it will be a simple field upgrade since we already developed a product that will support future technologies. To learn more about Raidundant Sky Solutions, visit www.raidundant.com and stop by booth SL13417 at NAB Show 2013. BSD: How does Raidundant deliver on that vision? MK: Data storage requirements are growing and the need for high perform- ance, flexible, and scalable storage solu- tions are in high demand. Customers are looking for a 'plug and play' format with expansion capabilities built into the hard- ware that supports all video file formats. Raidundant Sky Storage Solutions is a game changer in storage. We take a unique approach in how users should think about storage. Our unique hardware design provides customers with the high- performance requirements required for video demands as well as scales to match whatever performance and capacity is needed for the future. The unique back- plane is designed 'future ready' and is field upgradeable. Our solutions do not require 'rip and replace' in three to five years like other storage manufacturers. Our approach allows customers to extend the life of their storage hardware beyond 10 years. These are just a few key exam- ples of why we are unique. BSD: What makes Sky Solutions better than the competition? MK: Unlimited scalability, flexibility, performance, and price. It's simple to implement, upgrade and provides an all inclusive architecture. Based on Sky Solutions and our technology, we designed a removable drive bay that is used by Sony Cinema Group throughout the U.S. In addition, our Sky Solution supports media process- ing and high performance file opera- tions simultaneously, to meet the band- width requirements of the complex media workflows. BSD: How did you start working with Raidundant (Con't. from p. 1) Sony Cinema Group? MK: While working with clients in the media and entertainment industry, I rec- ognized a need for a new hardware design that addresses three main prob- lems in the industry. First, moving data needed to be simplified. Second, cus- tomers were suffering from 'rip and replace' upgrades with limited expan- sion. Third, the need for more cost effec- tive and higher performance solutions. Sony Media Systems (Cinema Group) needed an expandable storage manage- ment solution to better serve large movie theaters upgrading to 4k technology. As more and more theaters upgrade to 4k projection technology, many find that they lacked know how to operate, man- age, and repair these solutions, leaving Sony with expensive, personal intensive challenges that were quickly losing prof- itability. To address Sony's requirements, Raidundant designed a Sky Technology well as large color grading displays. Our displays are high-quality zero-defect pixel rated and we design and integrate test and measurement overlay software. We also offer software that is used in pro- duction including scaling, false color and variable gamma settings. BSD: What is your marketing strategy and greatest obstacles to achieving your goals for this fiscal year? LE: ViewZ is a recognized leader in the commercial and security display industry for many years and an established engi- neering leader in display technologies. We are looking to drive our brand aware- ness in the broadcast and post-production industry through visual innovation offer- ing our customer engineering advance- ments that allow our products to solve monitoring problems that include confi- dence, test and measurement and color grading. Our brand is not as well known in the broadcast industry, but through our satisfied and growing list of customers our goal is to grow our identity in the professional video market. BSD: What is ViewZ showing new for NAB this year? Which products have seen the most interest? LE: ViewZ has several new exciting products for NAB. The first product we are showing is a 55-inch 4K display high- lighting both size and input display capa- bility. We are also extending our color grade display monitors by adding fea- tures such as closed caption decoding, 3D look-up table import/export and cali- bration tools. Also we are showing a new ViewZ (Con't. from p. 1) tools that can be accessed at the point of display rather than by assembling indi- vidually designed external test devices. With the importance and transparency now of HDMI the ability to convert back and forth from SDI to HDMI also allows for content to be converted and displayed in either format. BSD: How can you see these products at NAB this year? LE: ViewZ has supplied our technology to several manufactures this year includ- ing Playbox Technology and Broadcast PIX. We are located at booth N4536 this year in the North Hall and we are at www.viewzusa.com. For more information, stop by booth N4536, visit www.viewzusa.com, call 888- 99ViewZ or email sales @viewzusa.com. larger 47-inch display to our 21.5-inch and 24-inch display models with our full complement of test and measurement tools. Our 7-inch display product has been well received this year both as portable reference monitor and a viewfinder monitor because of it's light- weight and extensive features. BSD: What trends do you see in refer- ence display technology for NAB and next year? LE: We see customers looking to define the quality of their displays and being able to analyze that quality in a decen- tralized manner whether it is part of a camera package in a remote location, transmission of content in a broadcast facility, or for creation of content in a post-production facility.
