CM: Tell our readers about your company. What is your main line of business? JH: In business for 26 years, Linwood Custom Homes is recognized as the industry leader in the custom design and supply of top quality cedar, timber-crafted and modern home packages or home kits. CM: Tell us about the construction aspect of the home package or home kit. JH: Linwood homes are built using post and beam, as well as conventional construction methods. Approximately 75 percent of a typical Linwood home kit is made from renewable resources. Linwood homes typically range in size from 800 to 4,000 sq. ft. Home package materials are pre-measured at Linwood's factory with the intent of minimal waste on site, and no shortages. Linwood also offers optional factory wall panelization. Independent builders work to build these quality home packages on site to lock-up stage – or the point at which the house is framed, has windows, roofing and doors in place, and is a secure weatherproof structure. Each builder is able to lead his own staff to assist with construction. CM: What would you say makes your company unique? JH: Linwood provides the very best materials to build a new home at factory direct pricing. And yet, customers are still able to take advantage of Linwood's in-house capability to offer full, site-specific design and extended support and expertise. Customers can receive the option of having their own custom home design created from scratch, as well as the ability to choose from an extremely wide range of quality building materials to customize their home package. GUTTERCUPS SUSTAIN HEALTHY FLOWING GUTTERS FOR HOMEOWNERS By Dennis Daniels, Vice President - Sales & Business Development, GutterCups GutterCups are an exciting development in home maintenance. Ease of use and proven effectiveness guarantees minimal hassle and maximum gutter protection. Innovative and patents-pending, GutterCups are a homeowner's best choice to prevent the clogging of gutters due to leaves, pine needles and other debris. Enduring rigorous testing prior to the current national roll out, documented performance tests found GutterCups to be the best gutter protection when compared side-by-side with the competition. In fact, during a 100-year torrential rain test and completely covered by leaves and pine needles, gutters continued to flow unimpeded with the use of GutterCups. GutterCups is a complete system to maximize gutter performance, offering thorough protection and ensuring unhindered flow of water. Designed with numerous features that benefit the homeowner, GutterCups save time and ensure free flowing gutters for years to come. Each GutterCup has an outer shell and an end barrier. When placed end-toend, GutterCups form a modular multibarrier protection system that allows the free flow of water into the gutter while screening debris at multiple points on top of and along the length of the gutter. The first barrier is a very open surface mesh (75 percent open surface area) that allows free flow of water into the gutter. The second barrier is an open mesh end wall (cup) that allows the free flow of water along the length of the gutter and catches any debris that penetrates the first barrier. The combination of an open surface ELEVATING THE STANDARD HOME Home elevators are no longer just for the rich and famous. For years, residential building industry experts have been predicting elevators will become commonplace in homes. Residential Elevators' pioneering approach allows the elevator to be a standard home element, now – not in the future. As the old saying goes, there is no time like the present. Residential Elevators' motto is that having an elevator will be standard, but it will not be a standard elevator. Each one is custom made for the client. How can a company provide custom products that are affordable? The short answer is innovative, committed leadership. The Factory Direct Experience When you get an elevator from Residential Elevators, it is sold, manufactured, delivered, installed and maintained by the company. All of these aspects are performed in-house, which promotes quality and reduces cost. For example, there was a time when the steel structural parts were provided by a supplier, but to ensure quality and reduce expenses, Residential Elevators acquired a metal fabrication plant. Another example: the product is not shipped and delivered by a third-party commercial freight company. Residential Elevators has a fleet of semi-trucks to deliver to the clients. C o n stru c tio n Ma rke tp la c e CM: What do you anticipate to be your greatest challenge in the year ahead? JH: Linwood has a presence in more than 30 countries and works with independent builders worldwide to conduct Linwood builds. A priority for this year is to further grow the Linwood Independent Home Builder Network to support the demand for increased U.S. builds. CM: What distinguishes your product from the competition? JH: In three words: quality, value and customization. Linwood is highly focused on delivering these key aspects to its customers. CM: How do consumers get started with Linwood? JH: Consumers can contact Linwood directly at linwoodhomes.com. They can first review the library of home package plans and designs online and then speak mesh first barrier and mesh walls second barrier screens debris from flowing to the downspout. These combinations of barriers allow gutters to operate in the most demanding conditions with high rainfall levels and large quantities of debris inside and on top of the gutter. Made of flexible but durable UV ray resistant polymer, GutterCups withstand weather extremes and sustain their resilience to make them a great homeowner value. However, GutterCups can be easily trimmed with scissors to desired lengths as needed. Anyone can install GutterCups. Insert GutterCups into the gutter and see how they fit snugly under gutter cross supports. Installed GutterCups cannot be seen from the street and will not be dislodged by wind, snow or ice. Competitive products often require the installation of clips, brackets and modifications of the roof or gutter. They often required professional installation at a much higher cost. Additionally, the removal and rein- This provides greater control and stability during the delivery process which in turn decreases cost. Individuality Each home is unique and should reflect the homeowner's style. Having a product with limited choices is not acceptable. Each hoistway is measured and the elevator built to the client's specifications. Numerous options provide well over 100,000 possibilities, giving clients the ability to tailor the elevator to fit their needs. As an industry leader, Residential Elevators' clientele does not have to compete with large commercial with a design and material consultant or Linwood dealer at no cost or obligation. CM: To what do you attribute your company's success? JH: Linwood has been the recipient of 16 National Home Builder Awards in the past six years because of its ability to listen to the needs of its customers. CM: How do interested builders find out more about becoming a part of Linwood's Independent Home Builder Network? JH: If possible, come see me at the show at booth #C7315.
