44 Tuesday, November 5, 2013 LIKE90 FOAM-0 ZERO VOC FOAMING DEGREASER STAYS WHERE YOU SPRAY IT Bonding Solutions has introduced Like90 Foam-0™, a powerful zero VOC foaming degreaser that cleans like a solvent. Foam-0 comes in a conAP Exhaust Technologies (Cont'd. from p. 1) replacement exhaust and emission systems for light, medium and heavy duty applications. The product line offers a full range of mufflers, exhaust pipes, catalytic converters, performance products and accessories. AMDN: What was the most significant event or series of events affecting your company in the past year? GN: Most recently, the acquisition of IMCO Exhaust. Over the next few months, we will be working with the IMCO customer base and moving them towards the AP program. With IMCO came the Cherry Bomb brand of performance exhaust, which offers tremendous upside potential for growth in that segment. AMDN: Are you introducing any new products? GN: AP is constantly introducing new TK Wrap (Cont'd. from p. 1) TK: That is correct. We will be taking advantage of the newly enhanced Mimaki JV400LX latex printer and 3M substrates to print a 12-foot-plus piece of vinyl, take it directly from the printer because no degassing is required, laminate it and apply it to a sports car. Everyone will be able to see just how smoothly this product conforms to every area of the vehicle, saving them hours of production time and money. AMDN: Being in Mooresville, N.C., customer base and business from the south? a small town like what is your main what brought your west coast to the TK: Mooresville is a small town, but SCA-Tork (Cont'd. from p. 1) knowledge and more sophisticated technology, we now know the damage, or "pain points," that towels can cause to employees, cars, tools and the environment. First, towels can be used by any worker and are generally mixed together during laundering. Those towels are often exposed to harsh, potentially hazardous chemicals and metal shards which the laundering process does not completely remove. The transition from towels to heavyduty wipers draws a close parallel to the transition of cloth baby diapers to disposables, which became popular in the '60s. Cloth diapers were not convenient to clean, not healthy for the baby's skin and venient aerosol can. It creates a powerful foam that stays where you spray it. It removes oil, grease, wax, silicone, and other contaminants from topcoats products to the market. Our development teams work closely with our sales force and product managers to make sure the range of product meets the needs of the market for coverage and quality. During this past year, AP and ANSA have introduced over 500 new exhaust system products. Catalytic converters is a strong portion of our business and we are aggressively expanding that product line, but equally as important are the general exhaust system parts which require a tremendous amount of R&D time due to the ever expanding mix of makes and models of new cars. AMDN: Where is your current product emphasis? GN: Our focus is on the complete exhaust system. Today, when we bring a vehicle into our tech center, we research all the parts. As a core manufacturer of catalytic converters, mufflers and exhaust pipes, we can develop the entire system making all the components avail- we are called Race City U.S.A. for a reason. Many NASCAR drivers reside here, such as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmy Johnson and Jeff Gordon, while many of the major teams keep and maintain their cars and haulers in the race park where our shop is located. This opens the doors to do work for a variety of race teams and commercial transport companies. We also supply custom helmet designs and wraps for all the local drivers and racetracks. Racing is big in Mooresville, so being in an industry that works hand in hand with NASCAR contributes to a huge part of our success. After market Daily News and primers, bare metal and plastic in preparation for painting. Foam-0 is biodegradable. Bill Kernahan, Bonding Solutions' Marketing Manager, said "Foam-0 is a great first prep degreaser. People like it because it's a foam and doesn't run off the panel or bumper like standard degreasers so there's no mess". According to Kernahan, Foam-0 works great with a towel and can be used with a able at the same time. AMDN: What is the nature of your distribution? GN: As a manufacturer, we rely on the auto parts warehouse distributors to move our products through the market. AP has built strong relationships with the best distributors in the United States and Canada, and support them with a 97 percent-plus order fill rate. Our distributors know their markets and customers, and as long as we do our job to produce the products they need, we will both be successful. AMDN: How do you see the next year in terms of economy, sales, technology and product evolution? GN: 2014 will be another exciting year for AP Exhaust Technologies. Over the past couple of years, we have acquired both ANSA and most recently, IMCO Exhaust. We have been expanding our TK: The newly developed LUS-200 latex inks are amazing. Not only can we take advantage of white ink, but we also can take advantage of orange and green ink for a wider color gamut that allows for a lot more design options. The colors are much more vibrant, there's no gas out time, amazing color match capabilities, and the ability to print solid colors with no band marks or pixelation. We also appreciate the outstanding tech support. Knowing you can reach someone when you need them provides us with a lot of peace of mind, especially if you're running 24/7. AMDN: What types of wraps or techniques do you see as being hot in 2014? AMDN: What do you like about the Mimaki JV400LX latex printer that is different from any of the other brands of printers that you have previously owned? TK: We think custom printed wraps on specialty films, such as metallic printed not absorbent enough. Once the consumer became familiar with the disposable diapers, the convenience, absorbency and improvement in the baby's skin health, it made the disposable product hard to beat. Similarly, replacing overused towels with disposable wipers can help alleviate pain points and even decrease cost. Tork®, an SCA brand, offers wipers that are free from the impurities or residues that are found in laundered rental shop towels. Tork wipers are designed to meet specific task requirements and have low environmental impact. With the new EPA guidelines on wiper disposal, proper practices are even easier to follow. Additionally, the Tork Top Pak system wipers are packaged to eliminate cross contamination and be dispensed easily while taking up less space than stacks of towels. This provides more room for employees, and can prevent accidents due to cluttered spaces. Polishing is another typical need in the auto industry. For a beautiful finish, it is important to have a cloth that works well with polishing compounds and does not leave residue or lint. Tork premium polishing cloth's honeycomb structure smoothly removes dry polishing residue and then releases it efficiently and evenly for a perfect finish. Cleaning grease, oil, paint and metal shavings and removing dirt, grease and metal shavings from frequently used areas are common practices in the automotive and collision industry. Using inferior supplies makes the process hard and frustrating for employees, and ultimately scuff pad to degrease and abrade at the same time. AMDN: To what do you attribute your company's success? GN: Customer relationships, period.
