Monday, June 10, 2013 Hospitality & Design Show Daily SUSTAINABILITY: A MOHAWK GROUP CORE VALUE By Rochelle Routman, LEED AP O+M, Director of Sustainability NeoCon is the place to see new and exciting products and meet new people. It is also a great time to learn what the manufacturers stand for and are doing with respect to the most significant movement of our time: sustainability. Mohawk's sustainable product focus areas include product transparency, healthy products and innovation. Transparency and confidence in knowing that products you purchase from us are safe is one of our objectives too. We support the goals of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the International Living Future Institute, the Healthy Building Network, and other forward-thinking organizations that are making the building industry better for all of us. Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), which include all of the product ingredients as well as environmental impacts over the life cycle of the product, are now available for our most popular styles. EPDs are certified to an international standard and provide information in a transparent, consistent format. In terms of innovation, Mohawk has the most diverse options available to customers that have sustainability preferences, including our non-PVC high performance backing system and the first bio-based commercial carpet fiber on the market. Mohawk Group has an exciting collection of both modular and broadloom carpet made partially from rapidly renewable and biobased fiber called LIGHT CORPORATION REVEALS NEW LED DESKTOP PRODUCT The new, dimmable, 7-watt product named Revo LED Personal Task Light, features full articulation, an equally-diffused pool of light and several energysaving mechanics. "While LED technology has been available for many years now, the CHALLENGES OF SERVICE PROVIDERS, ORCHESTRATING THE VISUAL EXPERIENCE By D. Christopher Howe, Principal Design Strategist, designiterative At designiterative, we understand that service retailers have fundamentally different challenges than product retailers, who are able to put tangible products on display for customers to evaluate for purchase. Service retailers are not as fortunate and must rely on communicating their services in other visual ways. For service retailers, the experience becomes the product, and that is why leveraging the physical environment to deliver a unique differentiating visual experience is so important. There are several steps we take at designiterative to orchestrate a visual experience, whether it is for a single location or implementation across a network. Having a strategic approach to guide decision making is essential. We immerse ourselves in the brand and best practice to develop an experience map that articulates clear and concise goals for each zone of an architectural environment. This map also optimizes messaging based on sight lines, projecting customer flow and when they might be most recep- MÓZ DESIGNS' GRAPHIX METAL COLLECTION INSPIRED BY TIMELESS TEXTILE DESIGNS Móz Designs, an innovator in decorative metal products, is announcing the release of the Graphix Metal Collection. The Revo's full double-arm articulation, reach, and swivel allow the necessary 95 footcandles for desktop comfort to be available to the user at all times. While always providing a healthy amount of workspace light, the 7-watt system uses little power when on full output, with energy-saving mechanics such as an occupancy sensor that shuts the fixture off after 30 minutes of no detection and an automatic turn off feature that shuts the tive to potential communications.
