Flora had served as president of the chain for the past six years. "We are deeply saddened to lose Jon, our dear friend and extraordinary leader," said Dave Dillon, Chairman and CEO of Kroger, Fry's parent company. "Jon leaves a legacy of enthusiasm and passion for doing what's right for our customers, our neighbors and our associates. He touched the lives of countless people in our company as well as throughout our industry and community. He was a true 'servant leader' who mentored many associates at every level of our business and an incredible champion of Associate Engagement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends." Flora was named President of Fry's, an Arizona-based supermarket chain, in 2007. Prior to taking this position, Flora spent 36 years working for Kroger, serving in a variety of leadership positions, including as Senior Vice President and President of the company's Great Lakes division. He began his career in 1971 with Kroger's Dillon stores, working as a "bottle boy" who cleaned glass soda bottles that were returned for recycling. Flora was renowned for his commitment to volunteerism and charitable causes, including The Boys & Girls Club. Flora was also committed to the issue of ending hunger. 800.456.7115 MIXES Statement of Ownership, Management and Circulation Publication Title: Gourmet News Publication Number: 544-070 Filing Date: October 10, 2013 Issue Frequency: Monthly Number of Issues Published Annually: 12 Annual Subscription Price: Free Complete Mailing Address of Known Office of Publication: P.
