8 Thursday, September 26, 2013 LOGICAL DECISIONS, INC. INTRODUCES REMOTE GATE MONITORING SYSTEM By Andrew Spring, Sales, Logical Decisions, Inc. There are quite a few options on the market today when it comes to monitoring a gate system. But what about those gates that are securing a very remote property or asset? The list of options starts to get smaller. Now, let's add remote gate monitoring for a reasonable price— the list gets even smaller. Logical Decisions, Inc. (LDI) has introduced a cell-based gate operator monitoring system that is simple and cost-effective. The small module can be wired into any make and model gate operator and provide feedback from the gate via text messages. The messages can be programed to alert you to two different preset conditions of the gate. Some examples include, but are not limited to: "Gate X has been open too long," "Gate X has gone into an alarm situation," and "Gate X is closed." Not only the does the mod- OCG Security Daily ule alert you of these changes in status, it can also be called from any pre-approved phone number and given one of two preset commands, such as: reset gate, close gate, and open gate. All that is required for the module to work is a GSM enabled SIM-card (AT&T or T-Mobile). Most users can simply "add a line" to their current cell phone plane for a minimal fee. This monitoring method is much less costly compared to most of the other remote gate monitoring systems available today. We've hidden 15 golden tickets in our ASIS 2013 brochures. Every golden ticket holder will receive a prize, and the grand prize is a free year of Report Exec―including software setup, training, support and licenses. Stop by our booth to collect your brochure and see if you're a winner! At ASIS 2013, we'll see some of the latest and greatest innovations in security. It's undeniably exciting to see all the new technological developments in our industry as each year brings new dimensions of security into focus. But how can you make sure that these new technologies work together? How to manage new developments and integrate them into an efficient system has recently become a major topic of interest in the security industry. Many directors of security agree that managing a multitude of separate technologies, working with legacy systems, and finding ways to synthesize information across platforms can be a huge challenge. At Report Exec, we think it's time to simplify. For both security directors and security officers, integrating information from a multitude of sources every day is inefficient and sometimes downright impossible. We think it's time someone stepped up to make it easier to run a highly efficient, proactive security operation while making it easy to complete reports and documentation to comply with regulations and avoid penalties. In order to eliminate the need for officers to switch from program to program just to complete their daily duties, our team has integrated 24 modules into one easy-to-use, easy-to-search security management and reporting system. The software guides officers through any type of report―case reports, incident reports, injury reports, Clery Act reporting and more. All the reports are streamlined and simplified with drop-down menus, INFORMATION SECURITY: IS YOUR STRUCTURE PREVENTING RISK MITIGATION? By Tom Lambakis, Vice President of Information Security Consulting and Bill Udell, Vice President of Crisis and Security Consulting, Control Risks As advanced information security threats such as the Stuxnet worm and state-sponsored cyber espionage have worked their KBC Networks (Cont'd. from p. 1) link. The units also feature a gigabit port, making them ideal for backhaul and megapixel camera installations. The new KBC HT series is available in all of KBC's wireless formats: pointto-point, point-to-multipoint and redundant ring mesh with both passive PoE and 802.3af/at PoE variants. The products also boast the same plug-and-play design as KBC's existing WESII and MeshII ranges. Steve Kuntz, President of KBC way into the mainstream security conversation, there is a perception that the cyber portion of information security is the realm of an elite few–those with the ability to understand the details of these attacks and keep up with constantly evolving tactics of the threat actors. While security directors typically have Networks, commented on the latest additions to the KBC wireless family. "The new HT products will allow our customers to up-scale their wireless transmission to meet the growing demands of the latest megapixel cameras as well as delivering backhaul links." Kuntz continued, "We've been providing innovative wireless products for 20 years now, and that experience has taught us that our customers need reliable and straightforward solutions. They need to deliver secure and stable transmission to their customers, and at the same time, Lee M. We're committed to constant innovation and creating the best possible solution to help those who protect. It's bold, but it's the philosophy that has helped build a great product over the past 20 years. With years of customer feedback and constant input from industry experts, we're proud to offer one oversight of other aspects of information security, including physical files and sensitive or proprietary equipment, they often struggle to find their role in digital security among increasingly complex countermeasures required to combat network-based attacks. The truth is that many data breaches are not nearly so complex in their origins. The 2012 Verizon Data Breach Investigation Report (DBIR), which profiled 855 separate incidents and the loss of 174 million records, categorized 96 percent of attacks as "not highly difficult." The analysis further found that 97 minimize the time spent on site. Responsibility for many of these controls sits in the shared space between IT and security. Unfortunately, structural, budgetary and cultural divides complicate coordination between the two departments, creating dangerous gaps and expensive redundancies. Security recognizes, but does not own, digital-based risks and as a consequence, does not often treat them properly as an enterprise-wide business risk.
