2 GENERAL NEWS KITCHENWARE NEWS & HOUSEWARES REVIEW n AUGUST 2013 n www.kitchenwarenews.com General News New KitchenAid Refrigerator Features Unique Platinum Interior KitchenAid® is introducing a new French Door refrigerator that not only maximizes food preservation and freshness, but flatters the refrigerator's contents by providing a sophisticated, platinum interior backdrop as an alternative to the traditional stark white finish. "The platinum finish not only complements the metallic accents found throughout the interior, it also creates a unique look that many will find more attractive, more elegant and easier on the eyes," said Beth Robinson, Senior Manager of Brand Experience for KitchenAid. "It's an unexpected design touch that no other model offers." Featuring the Preserva® Food Care System, this latest model was engineered to control the storage life of refrigerated and frozen foods by addressing three key issues that are essential for food preservation: humidity, ethylene and odors. Sequential dual evaporators provide independent cooling to help prevent refrigerator air from mixing with freezer air. This allows for the higher humidity needed to maintain fresh ingredients in the refrigerator, while keeping humidity out of the freezer compartment to minimize freezer burn. Separate evaporators also help to prevent any strong refrigerator odors caused by foods like onions or fish from seeping into the freezer. A FreshFlow Produce Preserver with an ethylene-absorption cartridge extends the freshness of produce by up to 25 percent* and auto humidity-controlled crisper drawers adjust for humidity based on the types of food being stored. To reduce common food odors, a FreshFlow™ Air Filter uses activated carbon that is 15 times more powerful than baking soda. The Temperature-Controlled Pantry Drawer offers additional flexibility with four settings that allow for different foods to be stored at the optimal temperatures, including: Fresh Meat (32˚ F), Party (36˚ F), Deli (39˚ F) and Wine (41˚ F). The drawer can also be customized between 32˚ F – 41˚ F to accommodate a range of foods. "Modern cooks have a wide variety of ingredients and an array of artisan foods at their disposal," notes Robinson. "Whether it's local market produce or a favorite gelato flavor, this refrigerator will keep foods at their freshest." Additional premium features found on the French door models include ClearVue™ Evriholder Products Makes Leadership Changes Evriholder Products has announced the promotion of Ivan Stein to the position of CEO and Gary Seehoff will become company Chairman and Founder. Taking over the day-to-day responsibility and management of Evriholder, all senior executives will report directly to Stein including Administration, HR, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Sales, and Creative., Stein held the position of President, and Seehoff served as CEO. The changes took effect on July 1, 2013. "Over the next six months will be working very closely with Ivan to transition my day-to-day role to him," said Gary Seehoff. "From almost Day 1, Ivan and I have grown and managed this business together. For years, we had a dual reporting structure at the day-to-day level with multiple LED Theater Lighting in both the refrigerator and freezer that gradually ramp up to provide a sharp view with fewer shadows. Die-cast aluminum and stainless steel accents on shelves, storage bins and crispers complement the platinum interior and a flush water and ice dispenser offers convenient access to filtered water and ice. Three of the six adjustable door bins feature a removable insert that is dishwasher safe and easily transportable to the counter or table when preparing or serving food. In the freezer, a three-tier drawer system provides easy access and organization for frozen foods with a SatinGlide® Max System for smooth movement, even when shelves are fully loaded. An In-Door Pizza Storage feature at the front of the freezer easily accommodates packaged foods, while an adjustable bin located at the bottom of the freezer, ideal for storing frozen treats like ice cream, can be moved left or right depending on storage space needs. A Whisper Quiet® Compressor System keeps operating sound levels at a minimum. An ice and water dispenser within the door features responsive, light-touch controls, with a measured fill that dispenses a select amount of water in ounces, cups or liters. Additional controls on the exterior include Temperature, Max Ice, Max Cool and Sabbath Mode. The Max Cool setting offers the option of dropping the refrigerator and departments essentially reporting to both of us, which sometimes makes it difficult and cumbersome. With the management transition, we are streamlining the reporting lines and processes." Seehoff continued, "At Evriholder, we have worked very hard to create a certain culture, one that is successful, entrepreneurial, growth oriented, collaborative, creative, challenging and fun. Our growth plan is multifaceted and includes organic as well as acquisitive growth." "Gary's leadership over the years has been freezer temperatures to their lowest settings during high-use times when the doors are being opened frequently. The Max Ice option speeds ice production over a 24hour period. The AquaSense™ In-DoorIce® System, thoughtfully located in the refrigerator door, provides more usable storage space with a bin that can be easily removed for serving. All Preserva Refrigerators are ENERGY STAR® qualified, and this model exceeds minimum Federal Energy Standards by 25 percent. The new KitchenAid freestanding French door standard-depth model with the platinum interior is available in monochromatic stainless steel at a suggested retail price of $3,399. instrumental in our company's continued success," said Ivan Stein. "Gary will remain in place—full time and fully engaged— and will continue on the Board as an active director. By moving into his new position, he will be able to focus more on strategies and opportunities to grow, including additional product lines, new licenses and acquisitions. Gary and I will continue to build the senior leadership team as well as continue to add and focus resources to successfully grow the company. This is a natural evolution to our next phase and everyone at Evriholder is very excited about the future."
