Oser Founder Thursday, February 6, 2020 4 EdTech Show Daily The Evolution of ELMO USA For over 45 years, ELMO USA has been a leader in K–12 education technology in the United States. Its award-winning doc- ument cameras have long paved the way within the visual presenter space, rein- venting the standard time and time again. In recent years, it has further taken decades of experience and research to develop a full lineup of classroom tech- nology solutions that includes wireless solutions, audio systems, student response systems, collaboration devices and more. ELMO is excited to announce the next stage of the company's almost 100- year legacy as it expands its focus to include complete K–12 classroom solu- tions. By offering reliable, affordable, customizable and user-friendly products all operating within the same ecosystem, its complete solutions will streamline classroom workflow and create an even more immersive learning experience for students. One solution currently in develop- ment is ELMO Prime Academic, a cloud-based collaboration software that will serve as a central hub for all class- room resources. ELMO Prime Academic comes with dynamic screen sharing capability that can be used everywhere, from a 1:1 classroom to across the world. Devices can be bi- directionally linked so that teachers and students can share their screen and videos with each other in real time while also annotating and pulling up teaching materials from the cloud's storage system. ELMO Prime Academic will also offer applications that can be used by its range of docu- ment cameras, such as the Chrome- based Image Mate + Cloud browser- based presentation software. ELMO Prime Academic connects seamlessly to its planned series of inter- active flat panels, ELMO STEM-Board. The STEM-Board will be offered in mul- tiple of screen sizes to fit a variety of classroom setups and is compatible with both Windows tablets and Apple iPads. The ELMO Easy Controller, its unique control panel, provides the widest selec- tion of key functions on an interactive flat panel without compromising any space for content onscreen. Pair STEM- Board with your favorite ELMO docu- ment camera and annotate live video in real time. Teacher Mobility, Student Engagement, Flex Spaces, Enhanced by Pilot X HoverCam, based in San Diego, California, is shipping Pilot X, a mobile, wireless teaching station allowing instruc- tors to teach anywhere in their room with- out dangling cables or a power cord. It features a 13-inch Windows touch tablet so teachers can work from the mobile podium or pick up the tablet and move it to any student's desk or work group, casting video images with no lag, no delay to the screen. "Pilot X gets teachers out into the classroom where students are, away from the front of the room," said Craig Justice, HoverCam Vice President of Sales. "It's an important part of the complete class- room, allowing teachers to be mobile." Pilot X includes a 4K document camera, keyboard, rechargeable battery, wireless transmitter and a wireless receiver that plugs into the HDMI port of any display. The podium's transmitter beams content to any interactive flat panel, projector or TV in resolutions up to 4K, without using the district's WiFi. Pilot X is ideal for districts imple- menting flex spaces, STEAM labs, new classrooms or technology refreshes. The Windows tablet may be imaged and runs all the software a district uses. The docu- ment camera may be folded into the tablet, so teachers can take the tablet home to prepare lessons. The base model includes an Intel M3 mobile processor, with options for i5 or i7 processors and additional SSD memo- ry, so the tablet may be configured to a district's standards. Educators can walk around the room to interact with students and teach with- out being tied to their desk or tied to the front of the room turning their backs on students to work on a touch panel. With Pilot X, instructors can always teach fac- ing the class. H o v e r C a m has developed wireless, interac- tive, USB touch technology so that the Pilot X is com- patible with most leading touch panels. This means instruction can be done with the touch panel or with the Pilot X tablet. For example, students could be working at the large interactive panel while the instructor controls everything from the Pilot X tablet. The tablet's built-in microphone captures audio from lessons, and with HoverCam's ClassFusion software, it enables interactive whiteboarding, anno- tation and desktop marking and lesson recording. With ClassFusion, students don't have to worry about missing out on critical information in class. All notes, annotations, video and audio of every lesson are captured perfectly in real-time for student to access anywhere, anytime and from any device or browser – making it the ideal solution for remote learning and study sessions. Pilot X is in stock and available for purchase. For more information, go to www.hovercam .com/pilotx, email sales@hovercam.com or stop by booth #1133. SecuGen's Low-Cost, Compact Bluetooth Fingerprint Reader By Jeff Brown, Vice President of Sales, SecuGen Corporation What is Unity 20 Bluetooth? The Unity 20 Bluetooth is the world's first elegantly designed, low cost, fully programmable Bluetooth fingerprint reader. It is sleek and small enough to be carried in your pocket as a mobile fingerprint reader or placed at a work- station as an ergonomic desktop read- er. It's a versatile scanner that can securely transfer fingerprint data wire- lessly to mobile devices and computers alike. But it can also process and store encrypted fingerprints within the device without having fingerprint data ever leaving the device. This can help ensure that sensitive biometric data stays secure within the users' possession at all times, which can be important for sensitive transactions. What's so appealing about it? Most Bluetooth products on the market are about as attractive as a deck of cards. The Unity 20 Bluetooth reader, on the other hand, is a stunning device with a simple but intuitive single button inter- face and three small LEDs. Our team has been able to achieve this while keeping the price of the product very low and suitable even for large-scale deploy- ments. With support for Android and iOS, the Unity 20 Bluetooth can be paired with most smartphones or tablets as an efficient solution for roaming enrollment and authentication of groups of people without having to deal with bulky machines. No longer requiring cables that can lead to clunky tethering, the Unity 20 Bluetooth was designed so that an administrator can hold it in one hand while presenting it to a user to place their finger comfortably to scan. What's under the hood? The Unity 20 Bluetooth can be used right out of the box using the pre- installed Fingerprint Management System software. Alternatively, it can be completely cus- tom programmed to suit the needs of the targeted user base. Within the slim, sleek white case, the reader has a 1GHz CPU and complete Linux development envi- ronment, including SecuGen's finger- print capture and NIST MINEX-compli- ant template extraction and matching algorithms, and the OpenSSL cryptogra- phy library. What does this say about us? This product is the embodiment of our philosophy of listening to the voices of our partners and designing world class products to meet their needs. The Unity 20 Bluetooth is a breakthrough product that maintains our dedication to quality and affordability. As this is precisely what our partners have been asking for, we are excited to support and help them succeed with new prod- ucts that are attractive, powerful and economical.
