Aftermarket Daily News 7 1 Thursday, November 7, 2019 What's with All the Noise about Noise Reduction Tires? According to the Bloomberg 2018 Electric Vehicle Outlook (EVO), sales of electric vehicles (EVs) are increasing from a record 1.1 million worldwide in 2017 to 11 million in 2025 and then surg- ing to 30 million in 2030 as they become cheaper to make than internal combus- tion engine (ICE) cars. One important aspect of the EV ownership experience is the serene in-car cabin experience. Without the loud exhaust of an internal combustion engine (ICE), road noise generated by the tires becomes more pronounced. Consequently, all major tire manufactur- ers have developed a new genre of tires dubbed "Noise Reduction Tires." These tires were developed to enhance the quiet in-car experience by adding a layer of sound "deadening" material attached to the tire's inner liner, resulting in a cabin noise reduction of between 3db to 9db. With the proliferation of EVs such as Tesla, misinformation about the repairability of these noise reduction tires has infiltrated the marketplace through social media. One such Tesla owner's community video, which has over 7 mil- lion views, perpetuates the myth that these tires are un-repairable. TECH, the global tire and wheel authority, which pioneered proper and permanent tire repair products and processes over 80 years ago, has developed a dedicated and documented repair process for these noise reduction tires. Like any other tire, noise reduction tires can be repaired, although there are additional steps which require removal and replacement of the sound- absorbing material. TECH's R&D group along with its Global Tire Repair Technician Training Team have collabo- rated in development of a repair process which adheres to established proper industry guidelines for repair through such organizations as the Tire Industry Association (TIA). Through TECH University, tire tech- nicians come from all over the world for class- room and hands-on train- ing which includes repair manuals that document the process. To learn more about TECH's noise reduction tire repair process, training manual or available courses, email training@techtirerepairs.com. TECH once again leads the way in developing products and processes for the next generation of tires. Dee Zee Adds Gladiator to Its Jeep Line of Products New for 2020, Dee Zee is offering a com- plete product line for the Jeep Wrangler JK, JL and now the Gladiator. Born through innovative designs that offer rugged looks, functional uses and the durability consumers expect from Dee Zee, Jeep owners can take their Wrangler and/or Gladiator to the next level. The new Wrangler and Gladiator product series includes lockable storage, replacement front and rear doors, side steps, grab handles and numerous mounting options for auxiliary lights in a variety of locations on the vehicle. Many of the Wrangler and Gladiator applications utilize Dee Zee's exclusive Hex Series aluminum extru- sion allowing products and mounted accessories to be customized by each individual customer for increased per- formance. Lights, cargo tie downs and hoop steps can be moved along the extru- sion channel for specific positioning (sold separately). The Hex Series doors provide the open-air tubular feel to hit the trails with the roof removed. The factory doors can be securely mounted with option- al garage mounting brackets. Dee Zee's prod- ucts enhance the OE features of the Wrangler and Gladiator as well. Two sizes of aluminum toolboxes for the rear allow valuables to be locked up when the roof is removed without hinder- ing access to rear compartments. An exclusive mounting system uses a pin system to release the box. The light mount brackets for the hood are offset, allowing users to fold down the wind- shield without removing the lights. Dee Zee's customized 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL and 2020 Jeep Gladiator are must-see vehicles in the Upper South Hall, booth #30049. In addition to Jeep accessories, Dee Zee con- tinues to manufacture a wide range of truck acces- sories as "the quality truck accessory people." Fumoto Presents Its Most Versatile Engine Oil Drain Valve at Show Fumoto, the brand that invented the orig- inal engine oil drain valve, presents at SEMA its most innovative product series yet: the SX Valve series for applications starting at 12mm. The Fumoto SX Valve is a stock plug replacement valve that simplifies oil changing into a clean and efficient process. No more stripped or frozen drain plugs that could damage oil pans. Extracting a small sample of engine oil for an analysis becomes as quick as turning a lever. By simply replacing an engine's stock plug with Fumoto, oil can be drained without tools or mess, freeing up bays, increasing shop productivity and getting fleets back on the road. Innovative features on the SX Valve series include: 360-degree adjustability, so the valve can be placed at any angle, making it more convenient to activate the valve than ever before; faster flow rate: Fumoto has increased the size of the ball valve resulting in some applications draining at double the speed of previous valve models; and compact design: the versatility of the SX Series valve allows instal- lation without an adapter on some engines that may have previously required one. SEMA visitors can see how the Fumoto SX Valve works with demonstrations every day at Fumoto booth #34308. The Fumoto SX Valve is also being spotlight- ed in SEMA's Tools and Equipment Featured Product displays. The 2019 SEMA Show is a first for Fumoto. "Participating in this premier industry event is an honor for us," says Fumoto USA President Yuho Yamamoto. "Fumoto Engine Oil Drain Valves have been sold all over the world since 1976, but this is our first appear- ance at SEMA. We are very excited to attend." Show attendees inter- ested in wholesale, dealer, OEM or customization opportunities may call 800.918.3406 or 707.545.7020 to arrange appointments with Fumoto representatives during or after the show.
