GOURMET NEWS JULY 2019 www.gourmetnews.com NEWS & NOTES 4 FROM THE EDITOR Greetings! Here's my recipe for a gourmet Saturday night supper: Start by taking a chicken breast out of the freezer, dropping it into a FoodSaver bag, pouring in a glug or two of Wozz! Vietnamese Green Tea & Mint Dressing and Marinade, sealing the bag and then drop- ping it into a cooler bag. Package a couple of red potatoes and half a yellow squash out of the garden in a U-Konserve can and drop that into the cooler bag on top of the chicken. Then zip up the cooler bag and load it into the back seat of the Jeep. Drive a couple of hours north along a two-lane highway and stop at the last con- venience store before the turnoff into the forest and pick up a few extra gallons of water to stow in the cargo bay. Drive 10 miles up a one-lane dirt road and realize only as you're turning into an empty campsite in an empty campground that the reason there was so much room in the cargo bay for all that water was that you left your camp stove at home. Breathe a sigh of relief as you remember that this summer's fire restrictions have not yet gone into effect. Go out looking for wood and find the pieces that a previous occupant of your campsite had scattered across the road be- fore he'd cleaned his ashes out of the fire ring and packed them out with him. Vow to do the same on your departure. Lay a fire in the clean fire ring and light it. Watch it burn for a few minutes. Wrap the chicken, potatoes and squash in three layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Drop the sealed package onto the fire. Cook for 45 minutes, more or less, turn- ing the package on the fire a couple of times. Meanwhile, pour a glass of wine and drink it while you stare into the flames. Remove the package from the fire, un- wrap and serve on a stainless steel dinner plate. Serves one. Reflect as you eat that there's no wonder that Wozz won another sofi Award with this sauce. It's terrific stuff. Happy summer, everyone, however you choose to enjoy your gourmet expe- riences!
