www.gourmetnews.com n JUNE 2019 GOURMET NEWS 5 0 Elmhurst Debuts World's First Hemp Creamer Elmhurst ® was founded in New York City over 90 years ago – as a dairy. Now based outside Buffalo, the company is returning home for Summer Fancy Food 2019 with a new line of non-dairy creamers. Not just any creamer: the very first made from hemp seeds, one of nature's rising plant ingredi- ents. Elmhurst's Hemp Creamer is the com- pany's latest innovation in simpler, better plant-based nutrition. This new take on the hemp seed is available in four varieties: Original Unsweetened, Hazelnut, Vanilla and Golden Milk. Each is made with real hemp cream and has 350 milligrams of Omega-3 ALA per serving, representing 22 percent daily value of this all-important healthy fat. Hemp Creamer also has an optimal 3:1 ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids. All of this nutrition is as easy as a cup of coffee! Golden Milk Hemp Creamer is particu- larly unique within Elmhurst's groundbreak- ing line. This enchanting variety channels a deep tradition of India. Also known as turmeric tea, golden milk has been valued for thousands of years for its marquee ingredi- ent, turmeric, and its key com- pound curcumin. With six ingredients or less – and no added gums, emulsifiers or oils – each hemp creamer va- riety maintains Elmhurst's com- mitment to clean label nutrition. The Original Unsweetened vari- ety has 0 grams of added sugar while hazelnut, vanilla and golden milk are lightly sweetened with 1 gram of added sugar. As well as creamers, Elmhurst is introducing Milked Hemp Barista Edition. This specialty plant-based milk joins its oat counterpart – providing professional-grade steaming and foaming for lattes and cappuccinos while maintaining the nutritional value of hemp seeds. All Elmhurst coffee-focused prod- ucts are crafted using a HydroRe- lease™ method, which preserves the nutritional value of the source ingre- dient while eliminating the need for added gums, emulsifiers and oils. Also available from Elmhurst are full lines of unsweetened and original nut and grain milks. Look for plenty more innovation from Elmhurst in the coming months! Visit Elmhurst at booth #4100. North Country Smokehouse Launches Two New Local Flavors By Alicia Baker, Brand Manager, North Country Smokehouse The shift towards locally sourced ingredients is real. Customers want to know where their food comes from and trust the people who produce it. Enter North Country Smoke- house. We've been smoking meat for a long time, and we pride ourselves on the diverse flavors our products bring to the table. We live in a region that's made a name for itself with the local flavors of sweet maple syrup, creamy cheeses and the very best in craft beer. It's only right that we partnered with other local purveyors to develop two, all-natural, certi- fied humane links. We began collaborations with Harpoon Brewery and Vermont Farmstead Cheese Company as part of our ongoing commit- ment to the local food movement, crafting recipes with fresh ingredients from our own backyard. These partnerships were made in sweet, meaty heaven – pairing our savory sausages with these regional fan favorites was a no-brainer. A New England staple with locations in Windsor, Vermont and Boston, Harpoon Brewery's award-winning IPA adds a notable flavor to our newest link. The Harpoon IPA Beer Bratwurst is balanced with bold notes of caraway and marjoram. The hoppy, citrus flavor comes just-in-time for the summer grilling season, and let's be honest – beer and sausage belong together. "There are so many wonderful friends and neighbors in and around Windsor, and we've had beers with most of them over the years," said Dan Kenary, Chief Execu- tive Officer and co-Founder, Harpoon Brewery. "We've been pairing great beer with great social occasions for years, so working with North Country on something that would bring people together around a grill or table was the natural – no pun in- tended – next step." North Country Smoke- house also worked with South Woodstock-based Vermont Farmstead Cheese Company to cre- ate a custom cheddar cheese for the new, spicy Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage. The company was the first commu- nity-owned artisan cheese and dairy facility in the state. "We are always looking for ways to col- laborate with other makers in our region to provide customers with locally sourced op- tions for their tables," said Kent Underwood, President and Chief Operating Worker, Ver- mont Farmstead Cheese Company. "We share in North Country Smokehouse's com- mitment to producing handcrafted foods. We know that consumers will be able to taste the difference." In true North Country Smokehouse fash- ion, these new products are hand-crafted in small batches and never include artificial fla- vors, fillers or dyes. The new sausages are packed in natural casings and free of nitrates, ni- trites and antibiotics. They are also Certified Humane, ensuring strict animal welfare standards are being met. "We're excited to part- ner with Harpoon Brew- ery and Vermont Farmstead Cheese Company, as it enables us to use regional in- gredients in more of our products. Today's savvy consumers want to know the origins of their food and are especially interested in locally-produced foods," said Aaron Corbett, Chief Operating Officer, North Country Smokehouse. "These two new sausages honor the craft of each of our neighbors' businesses and provide our customers with homegrown options." The two products are now available for sale. Bella Sun Luci Keeping on Top of Food Trends When it comes to staying on top of consumer trends, Mooney Farms and its line of Bella Sun Luci Sun Dried Tomatoes works to keep ahead of the curve. By interfacing with other producers, the company understands cus- tomer demand and a need for innovative and interesting new products to be hitting store shelves. Last year, the company announced a brand new product to its sun dried tomato line: Bella Sun Luci Sun Dried Tomato Chipotle Topper Sauce. This sauce brings a sweet and smoky flavor to the current sun dried tomato lineup with its Southwest chipotle flare. The idea sprang from a need to add flavor to an all-vegetable dish. Not only did the sauce add taste to the dish, it also brought the house down with its robust sun dried tomato and chipotle flavor explosion – which led to using the product on almost everything. From tacos to pastas, this sauce can top it all. Bella Sun Luci Sun Dried Tomato Chipotle Topper Sauce is a flavor booster to any dish, includ- ing raw, grilled, sautéed or steamed vegetables. But the flavor doesn't stop at vegetables; it's also great topped on sandwiches, wraps, tacos, hamburgers and more. Mooney Farms prides itself on under- standing the changes of consumer demands and is very excited to be including this new and innovative product in its lineup. Bella Sun Luci is a line of premium Mediterranean-inspired products created from authentic family recipes. The line in- cludes a variety of deliciously sweet sun dried tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes in olive oil, pasta sauces, bruschetta spreads, new Chipotle Topper Sauce, estate-grown olive oil, risotto and marinades. Bella Sun Luci is pro- duced by Mooney Farms, a third generation, family-owned company based in Chico, Cal- ifornia that is rooted in quality, integrity and family values. Mooney Farms is the premier producer of sun dried tomatoes in the United States. Visit Bella Sun Luci at booth #2365. For more information, go to www.bellasunluci.com.
