The farm originally opened to help preserve and breed the Babydoll Sheep, a type of sheep that produces fleece and cashmere, and who are currently included on the endangered species list. A few months into the business, Owner and Operator Natasha McCrar y, who was a marketing major in college, decided 1818 Farms needed more to help it thrive and decided to start developing her ver y own product line and brand. "In my mind, I never thought that 's where we'd go," McCrary said. "But in my mind, I thought, well people love the animals." Now the farm has grown into a thriving business with many profitable outlets including an online e-commerce store with dozens of products and product lines that McCrar y brings to AmericasMart and several other BY LORRIE BAUMANN More kitchenware manufacturers are finding their way to Las Vegas Market, offering retailers in the western half of the country an economical way to regroup f rom the holiday season and explore new options ahead of the comprehensive scope of product offerings they ' ll find at the International Home + Housewares Show. This year's Las Vegas Winter Market, held in January, also offered a chance to gain inspiration and insight f rom the designers who have come to think of the kitchen as the heart of the home rather than as a service area providing merely for the necessity of keeping the family fed.
