Construction Marketplace Thursday, February 21, 2019 8 New Reclaims Old By Jason Bast, co-Owner, Forever Barnwood We are passionate about our Forever Barnwood products. Our passion comes from our love of nature and all things nat- ural. We have grown up in an outdoor culture, hunting, fishing, working on the farm and appreciating all of the natural gifts that God has provided. "Trees are as close to immortality as the rest of us will ever come." – Karen Joy Fowler Perhaps that is the reason that we want to surround ourselves with the his- tory and wisdom of old barnwood. It brings a certain comfort. We have taken our years of knowl- edge and developed a patent-pending application and process to create Forever Barnwood. This product provides all of the advantages of reclaimed barnwood at a fraction of the cost. Forever Barnwood is made from Wisconsin white pine, kiln dried and individually hand processed into a variety of rustic barnwood prod- ucts. Forever Barnwood is a renewable resource and is available in a variety of sizes. Forever Barnwood products are free of contaminants such as lead and formaldehyde. Our product is also free of impurities associated with reclaimed barnwood, like feces, urine, bugs and mold. This makes Forever Barnwood products safe in the home and all commercial appli- cations. We like to say, "Bring the history inside." The Forever Barnwood product line includes dimensional lumber, shiplap, beams (both hollow and solid), mantles, counter-tops, barn doors, posts, corbels, rustic plank flooring, cabinet components, stair and railing systems. Forever Barnwood will take you back to a bygone era and bring a level of serenity to your home or commercial space. With the extensive line of products offered by Forever Barnwood, you are only limited by your own imagination. Now you can design the project you imagine and build it, instead of building the project based on the barnwood you can source. For residential or commercial appli- cations, we think you will agree that this is the finest alternative to reclaimed barn- wood on the market today. BCA, Director of Education and Certification, National Association of the Remodeling Industry The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) is the only national trade association focused solely on the remodeling industry. As one of NARI's core pillars, education and certi- fication play a large role in supporting the success of NARI members. There are eight NARI certifications that cover everything from lead carpentry to project management. The certifica- tions were developed to recognize highly experienced remodeling professionals, capable of planning and managing com- plex remodeling projects to client satis- faction. The Department of Labor esti- mates that those with a certification earn up to 25 percent more than those without. Industry Driven NARI Certification Standards and exam questions were developed by leading remodeling experts, well versed in tech- nical and management best practices for the remodeling industry. The NARI Certification Board represents experts in each of the certification categories and the courses are updated over time. Formalize Skills and Knowledge Erin Dougherty, CKBR, formed Distinctive Design/Build/Remodel, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband Vince Busby, a general con- tractor and a Certified Remodeler (CR). Much of Erin's training has been on- the-job, "the school of hard knocks," Erin admits. But her lack of formal training caused Erin to doubt if she could charge for her design services. That changed when Distinctive Design/Build/Remodel won a Regional Contractor of the Year Award (CotY). A scholarship for a certification was includ- ed in the prize and this created an oppor- tunity for Erin to formalize her skills and knowledge. Erin pursued the Certified Kitchen & Bath Remodeler (CKBR) cer- tification. The CKBR certification was a great fit. "I spend most of my time on kitchen and bath remodels, which are a sweet spot for our company, so the CKBR made the most sense for me," she says. Erin credits the infor- mation she learned in prepara- tion for the CKBR certification exam in making her a more qual- ified and thoughtful designer. "As a self-taught designer and remodeling company owner, I've spent years learning 'on the job' – the hard way. The process of certification crystalized that knowledge and experience. It provides objective proof of my expertise," says Erin. Invest in yourself and find a NARI Certification that can help you demon- strate your professionalism and knowl- edge. With eight certification options, there is something for everyone. For more information, visit www.nari.org, email info@nari.org or stop by IBS booth #N1173. Ingenuity: The Key to Water Conservation At Niagara Conservation ® , it is known that small decisions make a world of dif- ference when it comes to saving the world's most precious resources. As a testimony to this belief, Niagara products are designed to work better and waste nothing. Niagara has re-engineered the flush, for a high-power, low-mainte- nance, no-waste toilet. The latest of these revolutionizing toilets is the Nano™ – the most water-efficient toilet on the mar- ket yet. This compact toilet contains Niagara's patented vacuum-assist Stealth™ Technology and has water-con- serving, dual-flush options of 0.5 GPF and 0.8 GPF. Not only is this toilet eco- friendly, it was designed with the comfort of the consumer in mind. The Nano keeps the design of an elongated bowl, but in the same compact space as a round bowl and has an EZ height design that makes it easier for users to sit and stand. Stealth Technology is the key com- ponent to the water-efficient properties of Niagara's products. Using patented vacu- um-assist technology, and Niagara's Stealth seal in place of a standard flapper, Stealth delivers a silent, powerful flush every time, is virtually maintenance-free and is backed by a 10-year warranty. When water fills the tank/inner chamber, air is pushed back into the air transfer tube. This pressurizes the trapway and primes the toilet for a powerful and quiet flush. Stealth Technology also has the capacity for single- and dual-flush options. The Stealth Dual-Flush has pri- mary and secondary chambers to deliver either a full or half flush. When the "half" flush button is pressed, only the primary cham- ber is used, releasing 0.5 gallons of water to handle liquid waste. A "full" flush uti- lizes both chambers for additional power to accommodate solid waste – generally flushing at 0.8 GPF. It's not just that Niagara products work better and waste nothing – they have significant water-saving benefits. A single flush from a Niagara Toilet saves almost two gallons of water when compared to the flush vol- ume of the average house- hold toilet, allowing for up to 77 percent water savings annually. The Nano, and many other Niagara products, are being showcased at KBIS. Visit www.niagaracorp.com or stop by booth #SL1812 to see how everyday ingenuity is saving the world, one flush at a time. For more information, go to www .niagaracorp.com, call 800.831.8383, email info@niagaracorp.com or stop by KBIS booth #SL1812.
